Anyone wishing to join us, it's NEVER too late!😊 So please just ask and you will be made very welcome.

Hi Sue! I'm new to MSE and would love to take part! I have a separate sort of virtual pot, but would love to get involved with just a sealed pot as part of this challenge of all my spare change?  :)

I can't add a signature yet due to being a newbie, not sure when or how it will happen, but would including my number at the start of my posts be helpful? Apologies for questions, only joined up a couple of days ago  :o

A very warm welcome to you, lindsay54v3 (072 when you're ready) of course you can join us, It's lovely to have you with us!!  🤩 Have great fun saving. Your No is above in brackets, you'll also find it on the 2nd Post of Page 1, and please read through the 1st post as it'll let you know exactly how to save with the challenge, tips of  saving too. We'd love to see you on the thread often, it helps keep each other motivated. We empty our pots and declare in October, please make a note of next year's Declaration Day date: 28th October 2021.

PLEASE pop your SPC No on your signature as it's a great help. To do so please to to your profile Photo, top right, click then go to Signature Settings, lower and on the left, be sure to SAVE before fleeing! As applies :D
    ***********************

lindsay54v3 - an excellent idea about popping your SPC No on when you write each post, especially on Declaration Day!! 🤩  You ask as many questions as are necessary, it's only natural when you're new to the thread as well as the forum, so please don't hesitate to ask! Try periodically to pop your No on as we haven't a clue how long it will be either as it's relatively new to the forum.

A very Happy Saturday SPCers! 😊 I hope you're all enjoying your the weekend! I really hope everyone's keeping well, warm and taking great care in every way possible. Keep safe, warm, and very healthy!!  3

To all those of you who are either ill or low in anyway, take great care and I sincerely hope you're all very well and that you will be back with us soon. 3

Hi little-sweetie, thanks so very much for the lovely welcome to Lindsay. 😍
Many thanks for your sympathy with regards to my dear friend's Sons, just a blessing there was at least 5 years between them. Uncanny that our their dear Mum's Sister died in a car crash about 4 years before the younger Son, both Sons thought the world of her. To our minds it was almost as though she'd gone ahead to be there for them. ❤️ They've certainly had some sadness in their lives.

So you and I both had appointments at the hospital on Sunday! Mine was for an MRI on  my neck and back to see what's going on after my fall 4 years ago.
Not to worry about not having any money to pot, in time! ☺️ At least G dropping you off and collecting saved you some money! It cost us £5 as we were just over the hour!! 😠 T & I have had our vaccinations, a good job done, and we're both well thank you.
Love to you both A & G. xx

Very well done with the potting, Rdpncp!! It sounds as though you're on track to do well for an exciting Declaration Day. 🥰

    Very many thanks indeed, Vicky
I take it, it's the same with having downloaded Zoom to phones Vicky? Good for your Mum, though she's obviously in front of me! 🤔
Well done with the windfall as well as the money with Topcashback, a bonus for sure!!

You have had a busy time with so many different ways of teaching, I don't envy you. Those teachers should have come to us, we'd certainly have told them you were the most lovely teacher in the world, well I daren't say you were the most lovely person in the world as I've lots of lovelies folk here on SPC!! 😉 Enjoy the half term Vicky and keep healthy.

Hi Siju, nobody can blame you for having that bit extra to eat, not when you've had so much time on your hands. Once the fine weather comes you'll soon find it easy to shed!
Great potting!! Take care of yourselves 😊

Hubby and I have had 2 gentle walks (with the ankle), how wonderful to get out in the fresh country air! 🥰

    Sue xx

Have a super SATURDAY evening, a GOOD SUNDAY too folks!  PLEASE..... KEEP HEALTHY!!

NB folks: Opening date for SPC 14 is 28th October 2021.

Hello all, nearly the weekend. Those 2 days that are just like the other 5 days of the week!
Had an unexpected money off discount applied on some toiletries for spending a certain amount, so potted that.
A really sweet thing happened on my recent birthday. My Auntie, who isn’t going out due to shielding, was unable to get me a birthday card. Instead she gave me a couple of fantastic photos - one of my dear old dad, and one of a place in Wales we love to visit in more normal times. Also a very old postcard of the village where my dad was born. Very thoughtful and special and gave me a real lift.
Hope everyone is doing OK and keeping safe

My sealed pot is looking decidedly lean. I'm finding very few reasons to spend money. I've had the same £30 in my handbag for ages as all my spending is online using credit cards.

This might be the first year I have to supplement my Christmas and Birthday fund with money from elsewhere in my budget. Usually my sealed pot has enough to fund it completely.

I should have been at a spa this week. My daughter and I go every February for a few days in half term for her birthday. So that will be a saving to the birthday fund this year.

I really lose out financially on my main  holidays, having to pay almost the same amount for a room as couples do. My daughter was complaining that it was costing her and her hubby £45 a night to stay at a hotel in Turkey. It was costing me £40 on my own, and I only eat one breakfast!

There's a hotel in London that I've stayed at a few times, south of the river, staying two nights at the most. That cost on average £129 a night but also would be the same for two people (without breakfast). Not been for a few years so I expect it to be more now, and I always try to get a good price. Still, after the amount I've saved not going on holiday last year I could probably afford to stay there for a month! But  in reality I can't wait to go back to Turkey

A very happy Saturday SPCers! 😊 I hope you're all enjoying your the weekend, though if it's anything like ours it'll be extremely wet and windy!  :s I really hope everyone's taking great care in every way possible. Keep safe, warm, and very healthy folks!!  3

To all those of you who are either ill or low in anyway, take great care and I sincerely hope you're all very well and that you will be back with us soon. 3

Don't worry Lindsay, we're all pretty much in the same boat with not being able to get cash at the moment. :/

It's strange how we change our thoughts eh, Rdpncp! Not to worry, I have the feeling it won't be too long before things change - so long as we're trusting! Excellent work with the £1.90!! 😍

Ah Ant, why didn't you let us know about your birthday?! We'd love to have been part of your day. Anyway, a very Happy Birthday belated to you!! 🤩
Good for you with potting the cash you profited!
How lovely of your Auntie, I bet those treasured photos meant far more to you any day than a basic card especially with your Dad being in one! Little wonder it gave you such a lift. 🥰
    Have a great weekend.

Hi again Frogletina! It's lovely to see you back. I understand what you mean about your SPC pot, mine would be the same if I hadn't put between £10 & £20 aside, usually by IOUing it each week, though I'm now thinking of transferring it from the bank and setting up a separate account solely as an SPC one; however if Lockdown ends in March it'll hardly be worth it as I'd far sooner use my pots any day.

What a wonderful way to normally spend your Daughter's birthday, I can imagine you're both missing that this year.
It's totally unfair for a person on their own to have to pay that whopping surcharge in accommodation! It's always been the same since I worked in a hotel many years ago. It would very soon change if the proprietors had to pay the single rates when going away!! I can understand how you do your best to get a good rate, though it comes to something when you almost have to haggle for a room and breakfast!! 🤨
I really hope you're able to go back to Turkey soon.
    Have a lovely weekend.
    Sue xx

    Hello everyone,
Feels like my potting is going well. Not always easy when you have conflicting needs for savings and bills to pay, but the ongoing situation allows some travel savings to be made fairly easily. Going back to the office if/when it happens will feel very strange. Right now the thought of it seems really strange.
Have a good Wednesday all. It was blowing a Gale here today. Hopefully calmer tomorrow

I've received £25 from my energy supplier. I didn't change, just went on a different tariff, but it netted me the above amount which will go onto my sealed pot.

I hadn't read my meters for ages, so I did that recently. I have had more than one reminder, but with one being outside (3 floors down, and one in a locked cupboard on the ground floor), also with my eyes not being that good, I put it off.

When I logged on to the site it said I was £300+ in credit, but after I put my meter readings in I was £4 in debit. Oh well, it is what it is.

Hello, hope everyone is well.  Been away a bit recently as just feeling a bit blarghhhhhh 😔. Not potted anything either but payday on Friday so will have my purse emptying session for my pot.  I’ve got some washing pegged out on the line which is always good, especially after that cold weather.  My tomato seeds are just starting to push through so today is looking optimistic although Monday’s announcement didn’t do much to lift my mood; it still seems a long way off.  However spring is on its way and the nights are getting lighter so we are heading in the right direction.  I’m going out for a walk later so the wind will blow away those remaining cobwebs 🌬🌞🌷🌻
