Good Afternoon SPCers!
😊 I
hope you're all enjoying a really lovely weekend, especially with the rain ! Fingers crossed you're all
keeping well
and taking great care in every way possible. Keep warm, and very
healthy all!!
To all those of you either ill or low in anyway, take great care and I
sincerely hope you're all very well soon and back with us.
Hi DrCarrie, lovely to see you and good potting!
Thanks for the help, Ant, I wouldn't normally have thought to ask,
but the organiser of the group has a computer and I'd have thought he'd have had
a mic, but maybe it's an old PC.
I can imagine what it's like on family Zooms! 😂 Still, it's fantastic
that we have such ways of connecting these days.
Church yards aren't necessarily always sad and sombre places, a lot depends
on how long the loved ones there have been departed. Great places for nature,
especially birds. I quite agree about there being beauty all around us, and it
seems folk are either taking more interest now because they have the time. By
the way that reminds me of this beautiful poem, I love it.
Leisure
"What is this life, if full of care, we have no time to stop and
stare.
No time to stand beneath the boughs, and stare as long at sheep and
cows.
No time to see when woods we pass where squirrels hide their nuts in
grass.
No time to see in broad daylight, streams full of stars like skies at
night.
No time to turn at beauty's glance, and watch her feet, how they can
dance.
No time to wait til her mouth can, enrich that smile her eyes began.
A poor life this, if full of care, we have no time to stand and
stare.
- Leisure by William Henry Davies 1871-1940 -
Take care Ant and enjoy the wildlife. ☺️
Hi madlyn and very well done with your potting, a very good sum
too! 🤗 Good luck to your dad, with luck he'll get it done before the rain sets
in! 😡 Still, you can't make me envious about the bacon buttie with a mug of
tea later as DH & I had ours yesterday!! 🥓 😋
I love your last line Madlyn: "Enjoy what you have"
We'd all be better off in life if we were to do that. ☺️
Hi Hetty! Very nice work with your cashback!! I didn't realise, or
had forgotten that you go to Uni, what are you studying?
It's good to hear your seeds are safely with you, propagator too, you'll
have seedlings and then...!
Drs and racing courses, and anywhere they're able to get is certainly
helping the NHS motor on with the vaccinations, marvellous!
Sourdough has never taken my fancy, but good luck to all those who like
it.
Take care Hetty

Hi Sue, I work at the university in admissions. We change lives everyday or so we like to think 🤣. I can report that the pizza base (and topping!) was a great success. By the way I love “Leisure”, it’s one of my favourites 😁
Sue, I love the Leisure poem by Davies and often quote bits of it to G 😁 Thank you for your kind words, as always you can be relied upon to cheer me up 😘 Yes, it is a worry about GDs exams. The school doesn't yet know how to approach it. There will be some assessment but some kind of exam too and she's missed so much schooling this year. Time will tell... I popped in to report another £4.95 from a cashback site potted. Little and often will do! I haven't left the house since Friday but I took a call this morning offering us a covid vaccination on Wednesday so that will be my trip out this week ! Stay safe everyone x
Hello again Potters!
😊 I
hope you're all having a lovely Monday, especially withOUT the rain!! I really hope you're all
keeping well
and taking great care in every way possible. Keep warm, and very
healthy!!
To all those of you either ill or low in anyway, take great care and I
sincerely hope you're all very well and back with us soon.
Excellent potting Lost!! 🤩 I guessed you'd be along soon. Take care
til next month.
Little and often will do fine, Frostie, it's far better than nowt.
It's not exactly easy right now so I think we can all be happy with whatever we
manage. Take care! ☺️
Ah I see, thanks Hetty, not a bad job. I'm not sure that I'd like to
change lives, I'm sticking firmly by the side of my DH for a start.
Excellent work with the pizza!! 🥰 Me too with "Leisure", it makes us stop
and think at times. I also love "Elegy written in a country church yard". Look
after yourselves Hetty 😘
I'm so glad I was able to cheer you a little, little_sweetie, that
really makes me happy. ☺️
I guess all we can say about today's youngsters is, with regard to their
schooling, they're all in the same boat, it's sad though, but doubtless Zoe will
help her through it all, the teachers too. All the youngsters are certainly the
same with regards having lost so much schooling, and again, it applies to them
all. Come the end of your DDG's school days prospective employers will be aware
and no doubt be looking out for more than just the exam results! The aptitude
and so much more will get today's youngsters through, the best is that they
don't complain about their loss during Covid in any interviews. God willing, and
the young'ns approach will see them through I'm sure. 🥰
Very well done with the cash back A, it all helps a lot!! 🤩 Look after
yourself and G, and look forward to Wednesday! 💉

Yes, Sue, all the youngsters are in the same boat aren't they. I know kids are pretty resilliant on the whole yet it worries me that they might be thought of as 'the Covid Generation'. Not all of the kids have helpful parents either How many will be left behind for life? Am I being overly pessimistic? Take care Sue, and hugs for T too x
Love the poem Sue - Davies’ message has never been more relevant. little-sweetie, I wouldn’t say you are being overly pessimistic, just that you care a lot. I think most kids are pretty resilient, but sadly there are those that will be left behind. It’s surprising how many are neglected or have a tough life for all sorts of reasons. Sadly that will always happen. I was talking (in the usual muffled way of course) to a lady whose Mum is getting near the end. She was taking the positive that as she isn’t able to go to work she’s getting to spend precious time with her Mum that she otherwise wouldn’t have. Now that’s what I call looking on the bright side. Would love to hear how you get on with your Zoom call Sue.
I.reckon you will find it surprisingly good fun.

Hi Sue Thanks for my new number #57 I've potted £40 which I was given for knitting a jumper for a friend and also manage to pot a £2 coin. I must remember to count up my 'save the change' from my online account each month and add it to the pot.
Hi Potters I hope everyone is keeping safe and well. Hugs to anyone who needs them. I love that poem too, so very true . Let's try and enjoy the little things and know that better days are heading our way. Dear FIL has had his first vaccine and MIL is booked in for hers this Friday, so that's some good news! One day, we will look back on this time and wonder if it was a bad dream.......at least that's what I hope!!!!! At the moment I feel a little like this quote from a film:- Well, I'm gonna get out of bed every morning...breathe in and out all day long. Then, after a while I won't have to remind myself to get out of bed every morning and breathe in and out.... Life will get better, we must believe that. Another £5.30 in my little pot today.
