Woah. Woah - ruddy hamster wheels drags you back in if you're not careful....
I've pegged out the towels / tea towels and sorted laundry hamper into loads (that's a mammoth task on its own these days - I'm sure other people must have moved in when GF did!) and set a load swishing..might as well make the most of the good drying weather. I've also brought in a parcel, brought in magazines delivered by Dad and explained why I'm at home (couple of days off because I'm tired) and picked up the post.
And I've cleared the radiators and airer of clean dry clothes which are now ready to go upstairs.
I am now having a coffee and going to read a letter from a friend which postie has delivered. And I'm ignoring the 'I'll just ... I'll justs' Like I said - that hamster wheel pulls me in!
And STOP.
RxxIT ONLY TAKES SMALL DAILY ACTIONSFOR MAGIC TO HAPPENRosemary Ikpeme7 -
Round - STOP! Just stop....have a cuppa with me and a sit down...
Last night’s Mr M delivery fridge stuff has been sorted, the freezer has been stuffed, just need to actually plan to use the food that I have squirrelled in there. A gammon joint has been turfed out of the fridge as part of the tidy up, and is now in the sc for dinner, as who knows why I thought Thursday should fend for itself on the meal plan 🤷♀️.DD has changed her bedding, which is now in the wm queue. She hung around the kitchen chatting which was nice. QHI done, just because it was there. New wellies ordered, which has been on my list for a couple of years. I am sick of getting wet feet from the holes in my old ones. Also sorted out cosy insoles for them, and both at bargain prices including delivery, and cheaper than the Rainforest company by far.7 -
I have shredded a load of paper, emptied the food bin into Lottie the Hottie and stirred her up! Food bin cleaned. I wanted to vac the LR but I needed to clean the dys0n 1st (dd2 last used it) and have washed the filter, so that is now drying the sun. No vacc'ing will be done today! DH has unblocked the toilet 🤢💩 I am now sat looking at the jigsaw but its a bit flipping hard!
I have set myself a goal of doing 1000 steps per hour between 9 &5 - I'm only a little bit under, thanks to dancing about to 70's radio 😂🕺
I think I am going to have some lunch now. Everyone else is upstairs - my music scares them! 🤣
Ps Sorry if I am rambling - cabin fever is setting in!8 -
Afternoon, everybody.
Well, said shouty person did double down this morning with a definite sense of them feeling triumphant as they had a great put down to end with. Only this time, they did it with a nice little email trail to forward on to my manager with some suitably sympathetic and understanding comments about the stress they must be under.
As my phone is not going to ring at all anymore without my express and specific consent for each individual telephone call (and I am to let all unagreed calls go to voicemail so I can screen them and save the recording if necessary), I've been free to clean out and reorganise the cutlery drawer. It looks so much better in there now there is a tray that actually fits it perfectly and can take everything that was previously balanced on top of other sections.
I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll9 -
Afternoon flyers. I've only skim read so hope you're all ok and that Ionafan has had a nice break. YSL, AV0n has some nice pyjamas and you can order on line.
I am just back from a couple of days caring for very elderly relative who had a fall. In other news, DHs lung is ok, they're now keeping an eye on his liver but then he is an alcoholic. And Poppet has cancer so we're just going through the options of treatment for her. Not sure I'm a fan of chemo for animals as they don't understand and at the moment she is very lively.
Flying wise I think I won't get anything done till the weekend now, and MSE wise I need to redo the budget and claim on pet insurance as so far we've spent over £1k.Spend less now, work less later.9 -
Round I am so bad at switching off too. So, DS and DH have now chopped the sofa into several pieces which are scattered around the kitchen. I have my brother visiting on Saturday and the new sofa is coming tomorrow so the old one has to go. I am hoping that we can get it in my car tomorrow morning and I can get it to the tip. DS1s car is in the garage and I have promised to go to my parents for 2pm to meet the kitchen fitting company with them, but that means picking DS1 up from work first at 12pm. I feel that tomorrow is going to be stressful.
Well done JoJo, it shocks me sometimes how people behave in the workplace.9 -
Hmm.. today..
My nails are white and glittery.. like an Ice Queen.
I need to throw lunches together shortly.. but I am freezing and need a cuppa.. I have headache again too.. I think there is something amiss with my neck.. possibly a run over from the neuralgia a while back, it's not been right since.
I have clunked my hip crossing a road so am in oodles of pain.
New sleep strategy for Dot.. I am going to empty her bed of stuffed things.. and she can have a big unicorn she uses as a pillow, Harvey who she is attached to and she can pick 2-3 others from the box each night to be in her bed.. See if she sleeps any better.. She slept for 3 hours last night.. not what we need. I spoke to the woman from the sleep service today and she suggested getting a referral for a consultant paed for a discussion about melatonin and while I am waiting for that to come through I will do the sleep workshops.. they are doing a peopley version and an online version.. I'm thinking the peopley version might be better.. fewer people (4) and I won't be distracted by other online glitter.
I have signed up to do the sensory processing certificated course.. very basic but might be a step in the right direction.
I need to write everything down because my head is going to pop.
I am considering looking into the Specsavers hearing tests.. they are a full and proper test and I don't have to go through the GP who is going to think I am bonkers we have asked for so many referrals in the last few weeks.
Dots ASD private referral has been received so will possibly take place in late November/December.. that is a lot sooner than I thought.. she will have more labels by the end of next year than all the presents in santas sack.
No more quotes/grants in yet.. I did received Dots box of sensory bits which I am putting away for christmas.. there are a few excellent bits.. and a couple of UV torches.. I was given a free £50 gift card from the company so I got lots of bits which hopefully will make her life a bit easier.
Approved Food order arrived.. never known it arrive so quickly.. lots of little christmas bits in there.
I just realised it is almost November and I still have last years christmas cards up.. I may need to take them down at some point lol.
Jojo.. sounds like you had a fun and busy day too!Make the most of your new peace!

Work this morning and lots of faffing this afternoon. Work went ok, my workplace dyslexia coaching; is a bit like counselling at times so I need to be strong and set a time limit for some items. Will be trying a time/task tracker this week, having asked the student to try the same one.
This afternoon's plan was to go to my mammogram then drop in to wave at a disabled/shielding friend on the way home. One road closed; then took wrong turning and met lots of traffic; got to hospital 5 mins early. Parked close to the mobile unit and rushed in asking 'have I got time to get a parking ticket?' by which I meant have I got time to go to the machine. Receptionist said 'no go straight into the X-ray room - presumably she thought I'd meant was I going to be long enough for the parking wardens to catch up with me......anyway in and out like lightning and no wardens so ended up not paying - very MSE. Lovely radiographer but by far the most painful mammogram I've had - usually it's no issue, but I think this one must have trained in a laundry on the ironing press!! Squish!
Texted friend to say I was leaving hospital then encountered every school bus in the whole of Herts so the 10 min trip took 30. Parked outside her house, put visor on then checked my phone only to find a text saying she had a sore throat so meeting wouldn't be a good plan. We exchanged a few words on the doorstep and I battled more traffic home.
Made 2 phone calls which were needed.
Wrote up this morning's lesson and did plan for next week's.
Wrestled the printer into submission as it refused to print something Mr N had typed.
Lists partly done for Mr T and for the local food bank, which have a wish list on Amaz$$Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.9 -
Day 4 of isolation complete - only another 10 to go!! All still well 👍
DH cleaned the bathroom - except the shower, so I did that when I washed my hair.
I cleaned the utility toilet & sink, and then the floor. I then did the kitchen floor, including the kickboards, and wiped down the cupboards. I asked DH to sweep the hall so I could continue straight through with the mop. I finished off by wiping down the walls & woodwork. At least I have managed to achieve something today! I also managed 8k steps - not bad for not leaving the house!! I will try & keep up the momentum.
Well done Jojo for dealing with your bully 👍
Round I hope you have had a chilled day
Night night everyone7 -
Evening all.
Sorry to hear you're looking after three patients now, Jazee - sending you Flylady coping vibes x
Glad to know that you're on the mend, Natty. Don't try to do too much too soon x
Glad you've got lots more positives to report too, pigpen - but I'm not surprised you're freezing if you've got Ice Queen nails
We had a lovely 24 hours away - an extremely well organised place, excellent food, played board games all yesterday evening, slept well, and enjoyed beautiful weather and scenery this morning with a trip to the Cotswolds for coffee. All in all, it did me the world of good
Picked Rosie up from kennels on the way home: despite her reluctance to be dropped off on Tuesday, she had been good as gold, but was extremely pleased to see me today and has gone straight back into her normal routine at home - an amazingly resilient little dog!
Dropped her and DH off at home and immediately went for my physio appointment: more of the same treatment, but the physioterrapin [will find myself censored if I type the word ending in "orist" that we normally use to describe the species!] was delighted with my progress and told me to carry on with what I've been doing. I didn't disillusion her. Another appointment in 10 days' time.
DH has been out wargaming this evening and is not home yet, despite the fact that they close the premises at 10.00. I just rang him for the second time and he has phoned back to say that he is on his way home and pulled over to return my call, thank goodness.
I have FUPA the washing that dried over the radiators while we were away, and have amassed a load for the WM tomorrow. I have also written my lengthy to-do list for the coming week, and photographed the light switch and the light fitting hanging from the study ceiling which are both kaputt, and which DS1 says he will change for me. Hopefully the roofer is also going to put in an appearance tomorrow.
Sweet dreams to all, especially those who are already on half term holiday xx7
