As well as the usual today I want to give our stairs a deep clean, they have our only carpet and it collects dust from everywhere so get disgusting very quickly.

    Plans for today:
    ⭐ NSD  ✔
    ⭐ Update freezer inventory ✔
    ⭐ Make a loaf of bread ✔
    ⭐ Check bank accounts ✔
⭐ Wear appropriate clothes instead of putting the central heating on  ✔
⭐ Dry the washing inside on the airer  ✔
⭐ Put the dehumidifier on to help the washing to dry and to stop the house getting damp, it will also have the added bonus of drying out the shower room fully as the airer is close by  ✔
⭐ Light the multifuel stove later, so it is comfortable to sit in the living room ✖ it isn't cold enough
⭐ Put the kettles on top of the stove for lots of free hot water ✖ see above

    Morning all :)
Early morning dog walk done, then spent far too much time faffing about with a water meter thingy sent by Ipsos for a survey on the fascinating topic of washing up. Anyway, it doesn't work, so have emailed them. They also haven't sent a link to an online diary for recording readings etc. Fast losing what little bit of enthusiasm I had.
Anyway, in other news, my new washing machine is being delivered today. We, or rather OH and my brother successfully disconnected the old one without too much mess and got it outside yesterday, and fortuitously the regular local scrap dealer called round to a neighbour who has a car repair business, so he took it away for us. Managed to get a refund from AO for the charge I had paid for them to remove the old machine  :)   Scrap man took it away for free, and I have no worries about him fly tipping or anything, as he is well known, local and fully licensed. It is all a bit tricky as the numpties who installed our kitchen had made it as complicated as possible to get at the pipework and electrics, so no doubt we will be spending quite a bit of time getting the new machine fitted once it arrives.
    I have / will also:
Had the last brown banana for breakfast - the ones that Icyland sent this week were past it when they arrived - so I made a Nigel Slater chocolate and banana muscovado cake yesterday, which used them all up except for this one. Will pop into Waitrose at some point to buy some decent ones (still wary of crowded indoor places and most of the supermarkets are manic, Mr W is the quietest one), or maybe a veg stall if I get to an outdoor market.
    Check banks and update spreadsheet
Pick and cook some beetroot from the garden for dinner later
    Make some coleslaw
Some housework / put the kitchen back together once we have hopefully installed the new washing machine
Dinner will be some of the steak and mushroom pie I made the other day, with a jacket potato and salad bits
  • Sorry about not updating this week - still having problems with my head, not sleeping properly and have had hospital and doctors appointments. Today will mainly be chauffeuring my mum and brother around as we all need to do different bits of shopping and then I have to drive my brother to a friends house and pick him up later (don’t want him to get taxis so we are in contact with as few people as possible or walking home at gone 10pm). I’m in Kent and currently there are no restrictions on visiting others beyond the rule of 6, but I’m trying to reduce our contact with others as much as possible.

Will go back on my post from Monday and see what’s outstanding and will put up a list for the remainder of this week in a little while. Hope everyone else is doing ok.

    1. Spend less than £50 entertainment probably not going to be hard this week. Still £0
    2. £10 groceries spend (have everything we need so should not be spending anymore than a few quid on milk or loaf of bread). £5.40 total / £0 today
    3. Check and update the Yolt app daily. Done.
    4. Structured work days - 9am starts 5.45pm finishes, emails off in evening. Lunch with wife. Eat dinner with family rather than wife cooking twice. Working from home all week (lockdown) apart from fee earners booked. Not switched emails off but not looked since mid-afternoon was on hold to a call centre and anger levels were getting towards a 9. Yep I punched my desk after hanging up haha.
    5. Train with wife 4x this week. Going to regret this I know haha. She’s already decided what we’re doing so no chance of backing out now. Day 3 - done, feeling it now.
    6. Activity with son everyday - probably going to be dog walk not going to be allowed to do much else... Dog walk and bedtime story. Yep dog walk as a family and bedtime. Need to come up with something more creative lol.

    Evening all :)
Hope you managed to steer clear of angry people CLF, they bring you down, don't they? Life is too short.
Well, the survey people haven't responded, and I have given up on it. It sounded a bit of a pain anyway. And the washing machine saga is ongoing. Numpties who had put the kitchen in had plumbed the washing machine in before they (carelessly) installed the cupboards, and the pipes were squashed up against the wall, kinked badly, and joined without using proper joining thingies, and unsurprisingly had perished and leaked. The plumbing place in town didn't have any of the stuff we needed in stock, and OH ended up ordering it from Screwfix. Apparently it will be available tomorrow. We will see. In the meantime, I have the new washing machine stuck out almost to the middle of my small kitchen, and all the stuff from the cupboards all over the place. Oh well, worse things happen and it will get sorted eventually. At least we know that the dishwasher is likely to be similarly bodged, will need to sort that at some point. Hope there aren't any more problems though, as I really need to do some washing soon lol.
Did some baking today, spinach and feta pie, and used up the rest of the pack of filo pastry to make a quiche shell. Still had 3 sheets left, so layered them in a baking tin, spread the bottom with chutney and put slices of cheese over, then covered it with the pastry and baked, made a yummy thing for lunch. Used up lots of fridge leftovers too, as DD and the little ones came round :) They had great fun sorting out boxes of my sales stock in the loft, and picking out things to take home :D Not sure how delighted DD was with their new treasures though :)

@carrielovesfanta I do struggle with anger levels. Worse thing is I learned the coping techniques but when I'm actually angry can't just step away, count down, do 3 min chill out app thing just doesn't even cross my mind. Something I really need to work on tbh.
