Morning xx
After my last post Dad phoned to tell me that his 8 weeks in Benidorm with Barbara scheduled for January / February has been cancelled + Barbara's son is in hospital with chest pains + my sister in law is isolating after being tracked and traced + he's asked Barbara to move in with him and she's thinking about it. I've just spent two days in an office with H and she phoned to say that her daughter (who lives with her) has symptoms and has been tested for covid.
I enjoyed Strictly though!
Today is a new day. I'm up, bed is made, first brew is going down nicely and WM is swishing. Sun is shining, sky is the palest of blues, my pampas is growing more plumes than it ever has. Reasons to be cheerful Part 1.
I'd love to take my ball home and not play for the rest of the year a while but I'll keep on swimming, keep on swimming - is that what you call a mixed metaphor?
BIG HUGS to you all. You've kept me sane (ish) this far through 2020 and I am truly thankful to have each and every one of you in my life.

First load pegged out; second load swishing.
Going to get dressed ( I put my fleece on over my nightie to peg out). put out the recycling, feed the birds and have a second brew.
You?

Morning all,
Round and Badcat, sorry you've had bad weeks. It seems par for the course for so many of us at the moment. I was seconds away from walking out on two occasions last week, I have promised myself to keep going until Christmas but I am honestly struggling so much. I have registered my interest at two local SMs if they start recruiting, I would be sad to leave school but things are unbearable with hideous SLT. Rant over.Yesterday didn't quite go to plan as DS felt unwell, so my WM was on lots. It's times like that I wish I could afford to buy and run a TD! Anyway it all got done and dry by the fire with a little help from the dehumidifier. On to today, we are heading out for a big dog walk soon to get some fresh air. I have identified some items that need to go to the tip, that can wait until half term. I need to get some fruit and ham as well.I echo what you say Round, I doubt I would have kept sane but for this thread. Oh and FWIW Piggers, I wouldn't get a loan. I understand where you're coming from, trust me I do there is so much to do here as well, but rocky times lie ahead for all of us and my own view is we should be reducing/paying off debt at the moment to ensure we can cope with whatever s**t storm is to come.
Take care all xx8 -
asb - I think 2020 has pushed us to the limit. I was all for handing my notice in the other day but a colleague talked me down off the ceiling...and that was a different day to the meltdown! Then another day it's my turn to talk someone else down from the ceiling. We've all been ploughing on , and on, and on, but the cracks are now appearing.
Heyho - today I am at home and I've got a second lot of washing to peg out and a third load to set swishing - that I can cope with

Text from boss yesterday with pic of see through mask and he's offered to get me one for work. This is brill; masks are not on the list for primary schools but I work with 3 different classes. I'm very touched.
Never got round to cleaning yesterday. kitchen is a must...

Airer, radiators and washing line are now full - towel wash will have to wait.
WUDUPA x eleventy one = we have something to eat off and with.
Potatoes baking in the oven. They'll be served with beans and cheese - comfort food rules ok.
Mr M is delivering between 5 and 6.
While I was drying the millionty seven pots I was thinking of you all and the progress I've made this year despite the sh*tstorm we are all living through - couldn't have done it without you. I even invite people round for coffee now** - but I do check that they're not allergic to dust first. After all it's still a work in progress as am I.
Spuds smell good.

Round.. I will be having family in my house regardless.. if they can be at work and school with hundreds of strangers they can shove their restrictions on my human rights where the sun doesn't shine.. I trust my family would have the good sense to stay home if they were unwell.. it really isn't as bad for the majority of people as the media are making out.. from the government stats website the average age of those who have died is 85 and everyone under 20 who has died had underlying health issues, 28% who died had T2 diabetes and most had at least 3 health issues.. and not every one they claim died from it did.. a friends mother (83) died last Wednesday.. the coroner said they would have to do a postmortem but if they wrote c19 on her death certificate they wouldn't have to do one.. utterly illegal I am sure but how many relatives would say put it on to avoid a postmortem on their deceased loved one? We know someone who was mostly decapitated in a motorbike accident.. they put c19 on his death certificate.. 2 people with stage 4 lung cancer who have tested negative yet have it on their DC... there are too many lies going on, who knows who to trust any more?! I don't know anyone who has actually died of it after testing positive, I do not disagree that there have been some but I do not believe the given stats are correct.
Anyway.. re the loan.. I don't want it either, but... My front and back doors are broken.. the back door lets rain through the wood. My huge front bay is rotten and lets wind and rain in, the french doors do not close properly and are a huge cause of damp and heat loss. I have damp coming through the wall in my daughters bed room causing black mould which obviously is dangerous to health, given my recent asthma diagnosis I am struggling with damp and dust. My kitchen ceiling has collapsed after the shower had a massive leak, again with the dust but also the electrics needs sorting as I have no light in there thanks to the water, we make tea by the light of the fish tank.. I desperately need a living room carpet, mine has holes in it, actual holes, not 'a bit worn' it was there 10 years ago! I have the stair carpet needs fitting too. The kitchen unit doors are an extravagance I can live without but 'only' £500 total and probably the only thing I do not desperately need. There is some pointing needs doing as I have rain coming in around a window frame.. if it was downstairs I would do it myself but it isn't! I have applied for a grant for external insulation too.. so that is up in the air as an option too. Gas meter needs moving. The chimney breast in the back room as rising damp which needs fixing too.. I am at my wits end with the state of it all just can not think of another option... I am very open to and grateful for alternative suggestions.. waiting is not an option. If I wait prices will rise more than income and in the mean time we have to live with health hazards. I can not see any real point in trying to make the inside nice when there is so much fabric of the building in such a poor state of repair... I just don't know what to do and no one is sensible enough or rational enough to talk to for help.
I need to do uniforms, pack ups, bug check and baths tonight..
I have made a decision on these lazy trolls.. I am going to treat them like children.. I am going to write daily jobs on cards.. and they get to do those jobs for one week.. then next week I will shuffle them and hand them out again.. bins, litter trays, DW, vacuuming, mopping, dusting, S&S's.. I might throw in window cleaning and other horrid tasks I physically can not do too.. they won't die from a few chores I am sure. I am sick of feeling like the maid. That should give me a bit more time to get through stuff like flinging toys, sorting cupboards, decorating the bits which can be done and those niggly sewing jobs I've put off so they are now Bullfrogs.
Off to degrot the scabby kitchen.

Piggers, could you borrow a bit more on your mortgage? I see from your signature your interest rate is 2.41 %, unlikely that a loan from bank etc will be as low. Just my thoughts on it.

Hugs especially to Badcat, Round and ASB. I think a lot of us are clinging on atm, and this thread is a constant and a support in this current sh*tscape.
So today...wm x 2, 2nd load just hung on the line, with little or no prospect of getting dry, but it is out of my way. WULTD x a random number that I can’t remember. DD taken to riding for the first time in months, which I think has done her the world of good. 2 hours spent at the allotment, just me, the worms and the weeds, and autumn smell of woodsmoke. HHI to do and DD wants to make a cake later, so I’m not going to complain.DH has a cs slot booked for tomorrow afternoon. We have to book cs and tip slots here, so consequently they are both like gold dust. He has been allowed to take a box and 2 bags. He has filled one small carrier bag - I have filled 2 binbags. Guess whose bags are going to leave the house mwah hah hah..😈6 -
Big walk done, the kitchen is tidy and uniforms are out for tomorrow. I've arranged for the dog to be walked this week whilst we're all out, and it's easy dinners all round. See you all on the new thread x9
