Morning all
Late in as I have been struggling to get the Fred updated. Not sure if it is me or the new forums.
DD dropped at work. DH just left to get his flu vaccine at the dr surgery. Whilst I have the house to myself, I am going to run the vacuum cleaner around the upstairs. Maybe the duster too if I cba.
No motivation to go the allotment today, although I know I should. I might console myself with being in the spare oom, sorting out more Stuff, until I have to pick DD up this afternoon.
Piggers - I can’t help on the loan info front, although what Kaz says makes perfect sense. I live in a house that can’t even be good enough to be a candidate for DIY SOS, as DH doesn’t want to discuss what needs /what I would like to be done. He is, however, currently enthusiastic about building a wooden planter for a gifted fig tree....I suppose at least it uses some old wood up from his shed stash...7 -
Mademoiselle said:Pigpen, it sounds like you look after them all too well. But seriously this is exactly what is meant by the extra mental workload that women often have. Yes men & kids will help around the house but have to be told what to do, it's mainly women who take on the task of holding it all together and worrying about everything.
Well I have made it to the weekend. Next week shouldn't be quite as onerous as we have Friday off as term started earlier (for COVID planning) then it's half term. DD is coming today; she's my support bubble and no-one else has been in here since my birthday anyway. I've got the tea towels from work on the line - it's a bit rainy but I'm hoping it will stop as per forecast.
Need to catch up having done fluff all this week, really.
First job bed stripping. I'm quite sad as I have discovered tears/wear in my duvet cover. It was a fabulous bargain (jaquard; neutral colour and cost less than £6 and I wish I had bought more). Still, it's about time I had a change and, ironically, I have been keeping my eye out for one.
Thanks for the ebay heads up.

Valli.. if there were only males the human species would have died out, not through lack of ability to reproduce but because they were too stupid to find food.. they would all eat week old raw meat and die!

Saturday at home and stuff is flying out of the house. I did a run to the tip with OH of stuff we had loaded into the trailer the Sunday before last and then OH reloaded it whilst I made fish pie for lunch. DD1 has now gone to tip with him to help unload, we might even get a 3 load done. Never realised that getting rid of junk could put me in such a good mood.
Bed made, clothes picked up
Dining room tidied as I thought DD1 would want to do her on line conference in there but she settled for the kitchen and then the bathroom (she listened whilst she was in the bath).
I need to get WM on as we have run out of nice masks
OH going to cut the grass (hoping this might be the last cut as temperatures are quite cold at night now)
Also want to go to diy shop to look at plastic tubs to collect rainwater as one of our gutters just comes down on to the drive and is making the building damp.
Thinking of a day sailing tomorrow and I suggested a picnic to avoid unnecessary spending and OH jumped at the idea so need to plan that, maybe soup in a flask and a quiche.8 -
Pigpen if you can comfortably afford the repayments, and if it will make a big difference to being able to live comfortably in your house then I would seriously think about it, but it does depend on your financial circumstances. If you cant really afford it then definitely not, it will only add to your stress. We moved into our house and intended to do it up bit by bit but eventually we borrowed some money from MIL so we could just get it sorted, and it made a huge difference to me because the house is easier to keep clean and looks so much better.
DS2 and GF have come for a visit which is nice, currently being very lazy, have been to Li@l and bought food, house looks tidy.8 -
Round 2 completed + one WM load draped on radiators and airer, two loads pegged out, fourth load swishing. Paid the rent, ordered my prescription and a Mr M delivery for tomorrow.

Lost a post earlier grrrrrr!
(((Hugs))) to Fayolle, round, YL, asb and pigpen (or, for you, a comforting cuppa), as well as anybody else in need.
Last night I managed to deal with about one-eighth of a frog.
Not achieved a great deal so far today - it is cold and I react to cold like a reptile (but can't stand heat either: definitely temperate!) I did a bit of admin this morning, wrote some cards which I have not yet posted, and fell asleep on the sofa after lunch. DH has taken himself off to war games. He says he'll be back in time to have tea and watch Strictly.
I have ordered a new printer cartridge and a new plastic greenhouse cover - heavy duty this time.
I have arranged for my young friend A to come and do 2 hours' work with me in the garden on Monday. There might be a few showers in the offing, but I need to get him to cut back and tie in the tall plants, trim the lavender, and also move the patio pots around. All my bulbs are still waiting to be planted.
I'm still waiting to hear from DS1 whether he can do the 3 little electrical jobs for me, or whether I must hunt down a reputable electrician.
Rosie needs her walk, but first I'm going to weed the raised bed in the front garden.
Enjoy what's left of the weekend xx7 -
Second batch of satsumas in brandy syrup bottled, labelled and boxed up. Ironing up to date, including todays tea towels (from work) which I managed to get line dried.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily Dickinson

Kitchen wiped over.
Minging stuff in fridge and cupboard chucked out.
Masking tape removed from floor (because somebody was incapable of measuring the space to fit a rug in, so taped a tiny section off and then measured that). Sticky residue from leaving masking tape on floor for 10 days removed. Floor and bottom five steps of stairs vacuumed.
Furry idiots fed.
Bathroom sprayed and promptly forgotten about.
Two hour account of an exchange at work that should have taken 2.5 minutes to tell me about endured.
45 minute attempt to get an agreement to eat, what to eat, what shop to go to to buy the things to eat, what to do if the things planned to eat aren't there or are slightly different to the expected colour label and how to prepare it if they were still acceptable for purchase completed without murdering him. It wouldn't be so bad, but it was s*dding Tapas/antipasti, so it's just 'buy jars, take out of jars, put on plates and chop up some cheese', not create a 30 animal Turducken.
I've found out somebody from work has gone for a test. It was thoughtful of them to tell me, as I'd had to speak to them privately about important things that couldn't be shouted across a corridor or on the phone, so I am definitely a contact if they're positive. Just got to wait and see now.
Had the runaround from a delivery company who have either lost my new rug or it's looking very nice in the house of one of their staff, as it's completely disappeared. Fortunately, the seller has been more reasonable and says she's sending out a new one by a different courier, rather than telling me there's nothing wrong, it's just resting in a warehouse somewhere and I'm being totally unreasonable in wanting them to either look for it or confirm it's disappeared, then lying to both myself and the seller in saying they've delivered it, which even contradicts their own tracking.
I'd really like to be curled up with all the food, no fannying about to get it purchased, lovely warm rug that should have been here on Wednesday and a large glass of Red Wine in front of the TV right now. Instead I'm wondering why everything has to be such bloody hard work when dealing with men.
Piggers, I honestly wouldn't do that loan. It's only recently you've been struggling for money with people not working - if the payments can't be made because that's happened again, they'll come after your home. And of course, it would then fall to you to sort the problem out, as nobody else can possibly manage to sort it when they don't seem able to clean all the litter trays or operate a vacuum cleaner without either ten day's notice or somebody standing over them and explaining how the magic thing works.
I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll9 -
Morning all
Sorry for being awol, horrid week... won’t bore you with the details. I did rage cleaning yesterday and caught up on all the house jobs, loads of washing still to do so will aim to get a couple of loads through today. We are also popping out for a couple of hours to look again for a new car for DH.
Hugs etc to those in need x6
