    Hi guys
Today I’ve not stepped outside at all. It’s been really dark and drizzly all day and I had no need so didn’t bother.
OHs police checks have come back so he can start his new job, it will probably be the new year now but it’s nearer to home than his old one and better money, which will be nice.
Tonights tea is tuna pasta, simple wintery stodge, yummy.
I really shouldn’t watch the news channels, it just winds me up what a bumbling idiot we have in charge. Even if thousands of extra people die due to being allowed to mix over the Christmas period he wouldn’t do it because he’d be the prime minister who cancelled Christmas. Before anyone retaliates I know this might not happen and everyone’s families have different needs and whatever anyone chooses to do is right for them and theirs and that’s ok. I worry because I work in a shop with lots of people, touching money and close up with other staff and I could be asymptomatic and not know it so I try to stick as much as possible to our bubble. We’re having Xmas day with DS1 who’s in our bubble and visiting DS2 and his partner on Boxing Day in a covered outside space with a space heater ( this might not happen yet as his partners parents are older and her brother is fragile so we need to talk about this again yet) I’m torn, I’d love to see them, but part of me says not to risk it.
    Anyway time to go
    Keep well and warm.

We're both nearly 70 so have decided we won't be mixing with either of our DDs.  It's been a hard decision but we think it's for the best and hopefully we can do what they do on the shopping channels "Christmas in July"!

    Hi guys
Ive just finished my online shop for next week. I could only get Monday evening but it’s near enough. I’ve doubled up on spuds, carrots, parsnips and cauliflower because they are on offer and very cheap. I’ve transferred the Xmas frozen food to DS1s where we are having Xmas day so I’ve room in the freezer to prep some meals. Also by the time I get a couple of days after Xmas I only will want plain food.
We did start on the Xmas goodies a lot earlier this year and I’ve piled the weight on and my body has started to winge, indigestion and achy joints are telling me it’s time to start behaving.
We are staying in level 3 and quite frankly it’s not a surprise so we won’t be eating out at all until at least next spring. I doubt we’ll move to a lower level until a lot of people have been immunised and the numbers go down now. I was feeling really low and tearful about it all before but I’m feeling better now.
I’m back at work tomorrow, Saturday, Sunday and then Xmas eve and then it’s Xmas. I seem to spend my time counting down to things at the moment. It’s nice that most people are cheerful and patient and resigned to queuing these days, that’s one blessing anyway.
Anyway better go, keep well, night, night.

    Hi guys
Three more shifts to Xmas 🎄🎄
Today has been busy but cheerful, I got a £10 bonus from work too Not much but it’s the thought that counts. We were only taken over by them at this time last year and they’ve tried their best to keep us all in a job throughout difficult circumstances. I’m just happy to have a job.
I doubt I’ll be buying much in the sales this year. Normally I stock up on summer stuff in the January sales but I really need to lose weight this year and the money is better going off the credit card. There’ll be no shortage of bargains all year I think.
    Keep well and warm guys

    Hi guys
Just one more shift on Xmas eve now 😃😃😃
Today has been really busy but pleasant, lots of Xmas spirit.
After yesterday’s change by the government we’re staying close to home, we were only going to see my sister this week and then go to DS1s and his partner on Boxing Day. We’re not now and are having an online present opening.
Xmas lunch is with our youngest who is in our bubble. I don’t think Xmas is going to be normal for anyone this year, but hopefully things will improve soon.

£10 bonus better than nothing and a token of appreciation is always welcome. We’ve also had Christmas plans scuppered but will have to move it online. We’ll all have to try and do what we can this year. Certainly a year we won’t forget in a hurry.
I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)

    Hi guys
Today has been dull and miserable, still not cold yet though.
I made veg soup in the soup maker today. Just potatoes, a couple of carrots and a large leek with some salt, pepper, stock cubes and dried herbs. So simple and turned out really nice. I’m trying to eat simpler up to Xmas so that I appreciate my dinner on Xmas day.
My online shop arrives this evening, the slots later in the week went really quickly even though I went online as soon as they were available. I’m hoping everything arrives ok I really don’t want to go near any more shops unless I need to.
Theres another Boris briefing soon, goodness knows what’s going to be said next. We shall see.

glad you glad you enjoyed your soup - I really like how loads of veggies (in whatever condition and combination) go in and half an hour later yummy, nutritious soup comes out.  Keep safe x

Soups are great for using up veggies, aren't they?  I don't have a soup maker and just use a pan.  Had some leeks which needed using but didn't fancy the usual leek and potato and decided on a leek and pearl barley.  It was lovely and much more substantial than the more conventional leek and potato.  Will definitely be making it again.

    Hi guys
My fridge is groaning now with all the veggies in it. I doubled up in my usuals because they were in the special offers, expecting small cauliflowers and two really big ones arrived. So it cauliflower cheese for tea, yummy.
Ive been wading my way through DS2s washing this afternoon, he never gets caught up and we’re dog sitting while he’s out doing some jobs. We’re multi tasking by watching the doctor who Xmas films and eating chocolates at the same time 😃🎄😃
This morning was lovely with blue sky and a slight breeze, now it’s gone cold.
We’ve been that busy at work that our boss has been allowed extra hours so I’m on a longer shift on Xmas eve. Two extra hours. Now I’ve finished the Xmas food shop I’m on a budget of £15 per week for the two of us and that will pay for next week.
