Awful weather - typical Brits talk

Lovely photos Farway and Bluey; I can't compete with those today.
We haven't seen much moon or sun here, though yesterday was calm and dry.....before the storms! Although we can hit a beach in about an hour, too, yesterday we had to find something local the youngest (and oldest!) could cope with. So, it was down the hill, into the forest, and a circuit around a couple of miles long.
Going up the valley........And down again.DD 1 is a good forager, so when I pointed out some bracket fungi she said,” No, they're oyster mushrooms.” That told me! Next thing, she had a handful. Not a big haul, as we left some to grow on.Had these on toast, mixed with ordinary brown mushrooms and a local poached egg! (DD grows these at home, so she left me some small stem pieces to try my luck.
)
Hope the cough and runny nose has eased, Farway. Remedy from Dr Bluey looks ideal to me."There is no such thing as a low-energy rich country." Dr Chris Martenson. Peak Prosperity5 -
Dull & grey, no gardening today.Cough & nose semi cured yesterday, overdosed on YouTube, sausage rolls + brown sauce, posh chocs, cheat's £land Toblerone and mince pies. I may have a stroll down Quality Street later today. No Dirty Girls spotted to practice aversion therapy onSome great photos on here again, after my YT overdose yesterday I am going to try, again, more macro pics, according to YT expert "A" I need a £3000 lens and squillion mega pixel camera.Expert "B" tells me I can do it for a £5 camera from FleabayI've got tripod 2p, but find it a PIA at times because it takes ages to set up, then you “need” a remote shutter release or set the timer etc, it just goes on & on. I mostly just fire away & pick out a couple that are a bit better than the others., maybe if I was using roll film I would have to be more careful.Moon shots, everything manual on 8 so they say, not that it has ever worked for meBrave & knowledgable with mushrooms Dusty, may I borrow DD1 sometime? Try & sort out my Yellow Stainers from yummy real 'roomsI had a double take about her growing poached eggs at home, a bit slow this morning
. YT tells me that I can grow mushrooms from shop bought, using stalks and Magic, but so far I CBA

Just cut them, leave for a minute or two and the stainer bit happens.Glad your potential lurgy is on the mend. Now blowing a real hoolie again here, with considerable rain, but the hangover Herberts predict a brief sunny interlude in mid-afternoon.
Not much let-up in the wind, unfortunately. Outlook: more wind.

Just got to me!I've spent the morning sorting out several hundred photos
Love taking them, don't like downloading, stuff disappearing and femo if I delete too much.
The computer told me I'm near storage limit so must get to and clear out the junk - again. So here's the storm.......the last one, thankfully it was dry and mildBut I did have the camera bag tied to a post and I was hanging onto one! There were rainbows in the white horses but I didn't manage to capture them.To go back on topic I'll do the next post while I'm here.I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

This is a lovely set of very old plum type trees that bloom before Christmas.I tried to get cuttings, small twigs with a heal but they didn't root.So I may try to get some more after flowering. Any hints and tips on improving my chances? The lovely shape (there are 5 + in the park) is made by cutting out the middle branches giving them room to spread. The little birds peck at them for the nectar. And nearby hope for spring

What hard drive do you have Farway? It's all a mystery to me.Someone I know got a good one from Amazon for £25 but they were gone before anyone could get to it.It's on the never ending list of 'things to do'

twopenny said:What hard drive do you have Farway? It's all a mystery to me.I got Mrs Dusty this one, 'cos it comes with old and newer style cables:There are plenty of others from well-known brands like WD, Crucial and San Disk. These newer SSD ones don't have spinning disks inside, and they work from the cable attaching them to the 'puter, so they're tough and easy to cart about. They're very useful to plonk your photos on if moving from an old computer to a newer one, or simply to duplicate your pictures, so as to guard against loss through hard drive failure.

Great Dusty.I've had some suggestions from the Techie lot but the mention of SSD and cables and such for old to new gear is something I'll look out for too.I just have to find the enthusiasm to do the research.

I'm not a techy person 2p, but I can tell you that ex husband really was a techy sort and he was forever buying San Disk stuff, if that's any help?
I love your photos, your beach one is just what Hornsea looked like yesterday. Calm in my photos but rough as all hell at the shore line!
And imagine having a fully blossomed tree at this time of year, that's what I should have asked santa forThe only thing I can say about cuttings is take plenty and hope one will come good. Remember the rose sticks that himself eventually managed to get stuck to him? Well out of a good dozen or more I've got one doer. Just.
Same as I do for photos really. That spray+moon one took me about 200 photos to get. Stood waiting for the big spray then clickclickclickclickclickclick. Wait for the big 7th wave again then clickclickclickclickclickclickclick. That one was the only half decent one. Quantity over quality for sure there.
Looks like your family had a good time eh Dusty Love your forest pics, gawd I can practically smell those trees from here. Just wants a dog or 3 running round like loons and it'd be heaven. Proper dogs mind, not that half breed mongrel nonsense that himself's 'orrible sisters managed to spend thousands of £'s onMust have had big windows in the dog shop cos they sure saw her coming.
That sounds like a lot going on in that terrace wort, you'd never have any peace!
Cracking moon in the trees pic FarwayGlad you're feeling better - solid onslaught of sugar is the cure then is it? Good to know
OT - it's dry but v windy out there, too windy even to get a wash onThe rain stopped yesterday mid-aft (not that any of them predicted that). I wish I'd pressed that fisherman for more details of how it's gonna be a bad year - fish wise or weather wise I don't know sadly *shrug*
I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.4
