Awful weather - typical Brits talk

If you’re stuck for summat to do Dusty I’ll send you my new profile pic if you want? Make the whole thing fit into the wee circle so I can use it here
The funny thing about the pole and cables is that they’re completely redundant and been for ages. We’re in white-phonebox-land and our tv/phone/broadband services have been underground for yonks!
Rain came and went here too, not that anyone official predicted it, naturally. Back to moody skies and a chill-ish wind now. Still mild out of the breeze though, 10’ my phone says.I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.4 -
I'm in need of reducing the size of my preferred avatar. I have the advice from the techies but not the will.
So many more interesting things to do
I'll get back on the laptop to show you that wires can be good.
I'll check the weather forecast.
Darn cold tonight. Better now I've realised I'd left the patio doors air vents open!
Got the living Christmas tree out of the house and into a pot in the garden. Also tied to the fence in fear of wind. The garden is turning into a bit of a dumping ground. Oh well
At least I found out there are no frogs in my'pond' while watering so can trial my min fountain.....
Too much to do - ahhhhhh!I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Ooh a mini fountain 2p, that'll be lovely in the better weather
Has your tree survived the wind?
Cool here this morning, it's properly breezy out there. The sobers say there's "rain starting in 18 minutes" but it doesn't smell like it to me so I've a wash on. Whoever decided Christmas and New Years should fall on my Domestic Nonsense day wants his head wobbled, it's thrown me right offShould whine about it though, at least it's dry out there - the forecast for tomorrow is not dry.
Seems like avatars could be their own sub-plot then, if you're struggling too 2p? I've just clicked on your profile page thing and I can see what you mean now - your wee fellah wants squidging in a bit.
Thanks very much for having a go with mine Dusty, but it didn't workI've had an idea that I'll try but if that doesn't work I'll give it up.
Who mentioned films? You know how they say Gone With The Wind is on every Christmas..? Well it bladdy isn't cos I've never seen it and I look out for it every year. This year it was on :hurray: so I sat and watched it last night. It was alright but it sure wasn't worth a 46 year wait. Anyway, least I've seen it now. Tell you what else I watched - a thing on BBC4 catchup called something like "the wondrous world of moss" (or similar). I know it sounds dull but honestly it was quite good, certainly worth watching when you've a spare hour
And where's @ArbitraryRandom btw?I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.4 -

I didn't think it would work. If the picture and writing are as one, then making the writing circular does the same to the picture. Our visitors go home today; a day too late IMO.Anyway, I'm off today on a walk.Until yesterday, the place was looking not too bad, but now it's reached minor earthquake level. My hands also need to recover from Olympic amounts of dishwashing. As you say, Bluey, whoever stuck New Year in there a week after Christmas needs their head examined; we have just 2 days to straighten things out and do a mega-wash before the next onslaught.
It'll possibly be the same one we did the other day, with some more tacked-on, as there are very few paths which won't be quagmires after all the rain and in a valley at right angles to the wind.

Sort of dullish bright at the moment, but "strong winds due" so who knows? Looks like rain! One casualty of the recent blow is the neighbour's plastic blow away, not blown away but now very lopsided with contents higgledy piggledy despite being in a sheltered spot against a wall.Probably only the wall that has prevented me from gaining a free blown away blow awayAll this wires or not wires talk demonstrates just how hard it is to please everybody, same with gardening isn't it? My natural is another's unkempt weed patch.twopenny said:I'm in need of reducing the size of my preferred avatar. I have the advice from the techies but not the will.

I'll get back on the laptop to show you that wires can be good :D.I think there are "magic" programs that will patch / remove unwanted bits but IME it's all hit & miss, but not tried the latest AI expensive stuffI saw an AI prog that will create a photo for you, in fact someone won a photo competition and & then fessed up to prove it could be doneI'd like to try but as 2p says above, more interesting things to doLooked through my Mr F catalogue, plenty there, but I'm trying to reduce work, not make it.My amaryllis may be coming back to life on the window sill, nice enough but yet another mis label from T & M, bog-standard red not fancy bi colour. Fair does to T & M they did refund me so can't moan too much, except for dashed hoped & dreams of course, but I didn't get where I am today without some of those.

It's blue skies but wet.
I have a few little birds visiting again and the grumpy blackbird in the background.
I bought some cluster fairy lights in the sales yesterday. They look great so going to get more today.
Bluey, did you get some bargains?
Not sure whether to try a walk because it still looks like rain around and not that appealing.
Too wet for the garden sadly because it's really in need of refurbishment and me some fresh air.
Putting off going to a garden centre because I'm thinking the cafes will be rammed. Also I may return with a bargain light ornament.
I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

I know! Whoever decided New Year should be a week after Christmas isn't right in the head. A months gap would be better all round I think. It's not even as though 25/12 is Jesus' birthday anyway, I remember watching a thing where they tried to scientifically work out the 'right' date and it was nearer my birthday (end of Oct) than end of Dec.
Good luck on your walk, don't get blown away!
As for my avatar, I didn't think it would work either. I'll try just having her in the middle as the whole pic, and if that fails I'll wait 'til I see another great pic. It's the writing that confuses the job, but it's the writing that makes itAs the philosopher Jagger said - you cain't always git whatchoo wann.

My avatar is one of my drawings for a poem about a gardener.
Internet not good at old poems but it ends - Lupins standing as straight as kings, while I'm bent double with bedding the things!
Just went out again thinking I may be a wimp about the garden but it is just sodden. Ah well, I'll soon be complaining of doing too much
What channel the moss programme bluey please?I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Ooh we all posted at once this morning. The moss prog is called “The Magical World Of Moss” 2p and it was on BBC4 on Wednesday night at 9pm. In case you can go backwards in your telly’s tv guide thing and watch it straight from there. If you ended up with the blown away blow away Farway it could have still blown further away… Would that then make it a blown away blow away that’s blown away?Bargains in Dunelm - I just lifted things I was coming up to needing (rather than scooping armloads in and then wondering where I’m gonna put it like I usually do cos their stuff is lovely)
I got a feather+down duvet, various ‘kilne r’ jars, and 4 pairs of towels - bath and hand, I don’t know what the other sizes are for - all 20% off. And some xmas bits like tags and wrapping paper for pence.
Rain kept off here, despite the ardent promises of the doom mongers of whichever level of intoxication. Chilled right off mind.I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.2 -
Well we got that rain, downpours, torrential, rainbows the whole caboodle.
Really, I've had enough!
Bought lots of cluster fairy lights which I can see rather than others out there.
I'll defo look at that prog. I like moss and I desperately need something to stimulate the mind. The RNI lectures have me gripped. A new radio prog Disorded had me smiling but a def quirky take.
The Forest I think you'd like.
So, my garden still sits there dripping, as am I.
But I have plans ..Don't I always.
My red rose bud has come out. Weird but you have to admire it's determination. Rain hail, flood and it's done it! Photo when I get on the puter.TaDa!I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!
