Awful weather - typical Brits talk

Ooh that's beautiful 2p, does it smell as good as it looks? And have you got a picture of whiskers on kittens to go with it
The moss prog was good, definitely worth a watch, but it wasn't particularly cerebral. I could have had a bit more depth to it and more of the Japanese angle, but it was still good. I agree about the lectures, they do them so well don't they? I'll have a look for The Forest, I do love a forest. If you like quirky how about Only Connect? It's a bbc2 quiz prog but it's a lot of lateral and literal thinking and obscure facts, it really makes you think
We're in for desperate weather today, they say. The rain band on the news stretches from you and Dusty straight up to me so you'll get chance of drier weather later. Not sure I'm going far today so I might take the decs down...I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.3 -
It's all frosty again here brr. The moon is blurry though, so I'm guessing it's cloudy up there - will see when it gets lighter. We're forecast 40+mph winds this afternoon with sleet. I'm really not enjoying this weather...'A watched potato will never chit'...4

Not sure I'm going far today so I might take the decs down...The drunks say the rain won't reach here until 15.00, so I'm hoping to have my New Year shopping top-up done by then.
Lots of wind about, however.
Mind you, they said very windy yesterday, and it was fine in the forest, though the ground wasn't.
We looked like a couple of the spaniels that passed us by the end! It was either the path used on Boxing Day, or some new ones, and we chose the unknown. We know better now!
Very quiet here this morning; Iron Man and his pals are 150 miles north.....I have no forest pictures worth looking at, so in response to 2p's lovely rose, I can only give you the weird 4-man person post basher I spoke about a few months back. I turned -up a picture of it. Wish I'd hung on to it now! There's an early North Korean intercontinental ballistic missile in the background. We still have that in our junk pile."There is no such thing as a low-energy rich country." Dr Chris Martenson. Peak Prosperity7 -
Rain's starting here now. I've just checked the weather again and they've completely changed the shape of the line! Swines.
I'd be sorry if I lost/gave away a 4 man basher, they must be quite rare are they? And don't say "junk pile" Dusty, "carefully managed collection of articles whose use is yet to become apparent". Well that's what I call my junk pile anywayI removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.4 -
Dull again, no doubt rain will arrive, but I'm not going outside, too soggy. It hammered down yesterday.DGD on her way back oop North, today's celeb spotted at Heathrow was Rod Brydon. Hob nobbing with the stars again.Nice rose pic, I keep looking at mine, I have one bud, but the even the Christmas Cactus is late, not even going to be New Year cactus
, but it has plenty of buds, perhaps it has Russian DNA for their St Nicks?
As long as the Norwegian DNA keeps suppressed, I'm happy with it.Eight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens5 -
Dull but still dryish for the moment.
Tempted to go out for some daylight but just cleaned the top of the kitchen cupboards. Grim. Bit of a dodgy job with a back and leg not reliable so adding the unfixed extractor pipe to the list for an odd job man when I find one.
Torrential yesterday and I was out in it, won't go walking where it's dry under trees because of the wind, ditto a beach and moorland is wind and rain!
I watched gardeners world last night but it's so not relevant.
Was hoping to pick up some ideas but female presenters are all giggly and smiley with oh jolly jolly jolly. What is it with that?
The allotment ideas were the good bit. I'll be looking out for those boxes once deliveries start again. I'm a dump corner adict at the builders yards
Bluey Monty did a round the world thing for Japan I think which had gardens of moss. That was good.
Dusty, that post hammer, thought it was the norm as they're still used round here. I saw the fancy one on farm in the dales but he had the ordinary one too.
Farway, my attempt at a Christmas cactus had the same results. I gave it away to someone who was thrilled
Found a bulb when I was turning out a kitchen drawer! Don't know what it is but I'll plant it and see. Another adventure for this year.
I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

You need to be able to lift the thing about 1.65m at a minimum to get it over the top of the shortest stock posts.twopenny said:I watched gardeners world last night but it's so not relevant.

Would have been about 30mins quicker, but we have to feed a vegan on Monday and I fell among unfamiliar shelving at the supermarket.

Carol used to be great. But she's had double the giggle treatment and instead of her expert knowledge they had her making Christmas wreaths. What a waste. Here's a new way to decorate your gardenSorry about the focus, it was a bit 'breezy' and couldn't include the rest of the garden because the owner was coming out with a mug of tea. There are a few quirky gardens in the vicinity.

Farway maybe your Russian cactus is orthodox and will be out for Easter
I know what you mean about giggling girlies 2p. I want women who know what they're talking about, with hands that show it and wearing wellies older than I am. I don't want any wiggling or simpering or 'glances at camera'. I've not watched GW for a long while now tbh, Beechgrove is better for me. I think I've watched the Round the World Gardens though, I did like that cos it was very interesting. Wonder what your bulb will be....?
Poor Carol Vorderman, I always liked her and they got rid of her despite all the work she had done. Even in her reconfigured state she added a bit of class to the gig. Not seen her on tv for ages now I think about it... Hopefully she's not been demoted to the opening supermarkets brigade
Love the new way to decorate your garden! I'm sure I've got that top right charger somewhere. I'm pretty sure it's in the same kind of state too ha haa!
Raining here a bit, forecast on and off all day. The drunkards have decided to give it up entirely and just put whatever ventusky says, which will improve their success rate no end. Might have to stop calling them drunkards!I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.5 -
Grr did a long post and it all vanished!!!!!
Essentially- forecast keeps changing. Essentially more rain and wind.
Ever changing sky. Thought it was mild when I woke up but I'd left the heating on timer
6c but doesn't feel too bad.
If I painted the fence darker would it make the sky look lighter?
So yet no gardening.
No garden centre as it's Sunday, NYE and school hols but I'm making a dash for it next week to see if there are any bargains for fruit trees. No idea where I'd put another but thats not the point.
Lots of little birds out this morning pecking at grubs. Hope they get the ones that demolish my cherry tree.
Shame they can't do the same for humans. Everyone seems to have some random bug or another at the moment.
Hope you're all keeping well.
Chocolate roses for Valentine's in the shops are the only ones today. Easter eggs are too.
They fill the gardening shelves which makes it twice as annoying.I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!
