Awful weather - typical Brits talk

Fabulous shot Dusty!
I'd like that on my wall to cheer up winter.
My first digi camera didn't have all the bells and whistles but also took excellent photos without taking up much room on the computer.
Take your sil to the coast in this wind. That really makes you feel alive! I love it.
Bluey I've lots of the number 1, they followed me from my last garden and seed here and there giving colour when the fancy stuff struggles. If I ever find out how to get seed I'll let you know but they are a law unto themselves and don't care for human interference.
Woke up to 12cwind gusts and damp but not wet wet.
So far so good.
May move a few pots about, tie stuff up etcetera.
Just had a quick look out and my Felicia rose which should be 4' high and waterfall like has sent a sturdy branch up to reach for the sky. Wonder what will happen?
I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Dull and bleh, like Dusty the forecast here is just wet any time soon.No gardening today, I did manage to get a macro photo of my coleus flowers but must have pressed the wrong button because its a MP4 video. All I need to do is get a still from it, Ha, fat chance. Every time I select Edit, I get a digital FO from Mr Gates & his mates. In the meantime, looking back, here is DGD at 2023 Chelsea on the stand she helped with. No prizes for guessing who the other person isEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens7

Brian May, the famous astrophysicist? Mind you, he received his doctorate from Imperial College, home of that chap who crunches numbers and never gets his sums right, Neil Massey-Ferguson. And that other guy you named earlier, who seems to be an expert on everything, gives them loads of dosh.
Just sayin.'
When not studying the universe, Brian penned the song 'Fat Bottomed Girls', but DGD looks slim, so I think she's safe enough there. Anyway, well done to her.The nearest I've got to rock royalty is lighting Roger Daltrey's fag in 1969.

Yes please to seeds 2p if you’ve spares. No interference tolerated would suit me rightly
I’m with you on windy beaches - a good strong breeze usually keeps the tourists away too.Is it just me who thinks the centre of Dusty’s poppy looks like it’s about spew a load of earwigs?
About the only time I’d get ‘Who’s this sleb’? question right and someone beat me to it ha haa! Doesn’t he look like himself though? Was DGD more impressed than she’s letting on Farway?Tis ever so windy here but it’s dry at least. Ventusky and sobers both say rain starting v soon though…Before crowbars were invented, crows just drank at home.4 -
Pic my sister took of Nacreous clouds in the North East of England this afternoon... 😍

Something got inside my gardening glove and stung or bit me back in the autumn, though.
It was weird, because there wasn't a huge amount of pain and no creature was seen escaping, but the 'bump' has lasted months.
Still windy and raining here, so no chance of seeing any of those wonderful Nacreous clouds pp has posted. I don't like the name 'Nacreous;' it sounds like they're diseased. I'd go for 'Spectroprismal,' but then, I would!DD 1 and family have finally made it here. The M5 was fine, but low-profile tyres and the roads round here don't mix, and she blew out a rear one on a pothole 5 miles from us.No spare these days and the squirty inflator thing wouldn't work, so they crawled 4 miles, parked outside the pub, and we brought the 4 of them and their stuff the final mile. This isn't the first time they've had problems when visiting; more like the 4th. On one occasion, they needed new rear springs.
Anyway, there are only a few hours to go now, so I shall wish you all the Christmas you desire; noisy and full of fun or quiet and contemplative. You all deserve a good break for keeping this thread lively and topical, if not always on topic! And no, it's not a caption competition, Bluey!

Ha haa Dusty! Anyway, glad your family got there ok - are you buying them a Chelsea tractor for christmas?
Pp beat me to it - my pic is not as clear as hers (but the colours were brighter and more defined in real life) -
Merry Christmas everyoneBefore crowbars were invented, crows just drank at home.7 -
Wow the cloud pics are stunning wish I got to see them, YBE the Gerry one made me laugh I hadn’t seen before.I hope everyone’s relations arrived safely.I am just glad to have survived the last 2 mad days at work ,there’s some right grumpy git’s out there , just smile and wave 👋🏻 if you find yourself in a checkout please give the assistant a smile , chances are they’ve been there forever and putting up with some right old cack.
Farway I bet your gdaughter didn’t expect to rubbing shoulders with all these celebs, it always surprises me when you watch Chelsea or other flower show on tv and see who’s there.
The wind here has blown leaves etc back all over the patio so the other day feels like a waste of time. Tomorrow looks the best weather wise.
Let the festivities commence, wishing you and yours all the best for the season and hope you get the Christmas you would love.🎅🏻⛄️🥂Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.5 -
A quick check in to wish you all Merry ChristmasShame about DD1 wheels Dusty, I thought my Leaking Rim was bad but sounds like I got off lightly.wort said:Farway I bet your gdaughter didn’t expect to rubbing shoulders with all these celebs, it always surprises me when you watch Chelsea or other flower show on tv and see who’s there.Still waiting for her & Frances Topham to show up on GW, pruning apples during summer at Sparsholt College

Blimey you're all up early!
Is it to open up your Christmas stockings?
Wort, I always try to smile.when shopping.
But remember. The madness is just practise for the January sales
Love the clouds, always loved clouds, but Poppy has given me names I've never heard of.
Bit gloomy and occasional smattering of water outside, the met says to continue but it could brighten up. They've been known to be wrong before.
I had a little bird inthe tree and a blackbird quietly singing when I woke up
Thank you all for your help, encouragement and general cheeriness through the year.
So much better to start the morning than the news!
Merry Christmas whatever you're doing and if you have a spare 10min something to make you smile.
The night before Christmas
