Farway I saw a quote yesterday.

Aye I'm not sure the timer one is even real cos I'm not on twiXer (or any sm other than a couple of fora actually) but it did make me giggle
Fingers crossed your dgd gets dahn sarf safely, hopefully not too much of a 'life lessons and experience event' or whatever they're calling it this week
I've had a tootle round the garden and it all looks a bit meh. Lots of half dead stuff but then it is winter, nothing's snapped or blown over or blown out of the ground, so I'm just gonna let it all be. If in doubt do nowt.

pink_poppy said:Spooky, we were just talking about Cuckoo's Nest yesterday. We're watching a series called Deadwood at the moment (recommended, but don't watch if you're easily offended by swearing
) and one of the characters, Doc, is also in Cuckoo's Nest. My DH says the actor has been excellent in everything he's seen him in. I can't remember his name though...
The weather here has been appalling - lots of heavy rain, strong winds, just dreich... more of the same over the next few days too. This link should tell you who he is:Apparently, he's this character's Dad:Some bad weather here too today, with lighter moments between. I tried to take photos up by the wind turbines, where we buy eggs, but the rain and wind were too much.Down in the town, things were busy, but not manic. I managed to find everything on my food list and didn't need to queue at the tills. People here are pretty laid-back, and in the countryside they can probably freezer-dive for half of what's required!
The youngsters set off tonight for Leicester.....rather them than me!"There is no such thing as a low-energy rich country." Dr Chris Martenson. Peak Prosperity4 -
I recognise each of those but from my childhood I think it's Mayweed.
I was well and truely chilled and hanging onto stuff in the wind so of course the plants were dwarfed. The feathery leaves were rosette like against the ground but that may have been the climate.
Was thinking about mowing the grass today it was so nice and dry. Or fixing the garage door.
By the time I'd fought my way through parking and shops it was spitting rain, cold and dark grey clouds so no chance.
I've never seen it so manic for so many days at Christmas even though many folks were fed up with the pressure of the festival. Even the youngsters.
Never mind, the sales start the day after

I managed to buy some E10 petrol today, so I could be in with a shout after the festivities. The forecast to the end of the month suggests it won't happen, though!

Ooh pretty Pas, just in time for christmas too. I hope it lasts
I'd lots of No1 please Dusty. They look like a dahlia and a daisy had a baby - very attractive. Did the young'uns get to Leicester ok?
Further titivations in the garden yesterday showed my one flower, the only flower I currently have, that one wee rose bud, came to a decision and was rotting from the bum up. So that's it. Mind at this rate my bulbs will be in full bloom by New Year so I've not long to be sans colour!
It's a lovely dry wind and mild day again today, they say. Which I've no doubt it will be as soon as the rain stopsI oppose genocide. I support freedom of speech. I support freedom of assembly.4 -
After a quick glance at the forecast, it seems today will be wet and very windy again here, with Christmas Day being even wetter.
Boxing Day looks like it might give the best chance of a squelchy walk along hardened forest trails.
Then, if the predictions are right, it's back to rain and wind again!
My SiL, a very positively thinking person, says he finds high winds the most difficult weather condition to cope with from a mental health POV, but he's still relatively new to living in these parts. I recall when we first came here, feeling similarly after a couple of wet and windy winters, wondering if we'd made a crazy choice. Now, I just accept what nature throws at us, and as an old advert used to say, “remember the sunny days.”In that vein, I'll be delving into my archives this winter to post some cheerful pictures, mostly shot on a 3 mega pixel camera which took excellent close-ups.
