Hope you're all staying safe and not taking any risk.Hmmm....we were up to 50mph today, but Mrs Dusty still sent me off, delivering Christmas cards!Should that tell me something?
Later, being too late for the Pannier Market. I travelled to the great emporiums in the east, to purchase more comestibles and rolls of cushioned paper, lest the supplies dry-up, as predicted by Farway the All-Knowing, Sage of the Pearly Cloud Formations.
...And I still forgot to buy a squash!Paspatur, I'm very sorry to hear you've had such worry regarding OH's health, but it sounds as if there will be a positive outcome. Skilled people are still expecting the full recovery of an 8 year-old in our family, but it's been a long haul for her parents, with many highs and lows. Look after yourself, and rest assured your James Roof will shrug off a wheelie bin, no problem."There is no such thing as a low-energy rich country." Dr Chris Martenson. Peak Prosperity5 -
Dustyevsky, thank you
That made me cry again
All of my very best wishes for the 8 year old
I have 6 grandchildren and the youngest is 8, I know we are not meant to have favourites and I love them all to bits but the youngest is special
Yeah the James Roof has been hit by the wheelie bin a few times, I have now moved the bin for winter
It has never actually flowered (maybe too cold and windy on the gable end) but is a nice healthy evergreen and grows a little every year so it gets to stay4 -
I got sandblasted by the wind. Was shopping and decided to get that extra photo....found myself in a massive sand storm.
Even the heavy plant machinery guys were packing up 2hrs early.
Car seems to have survived but I've sand stuck to my face and in my ears!
Wild sea and quite beautiful.
The seagulls were out enjoying riding the waves like surfers. I've seen ducks do that too. Just like a fairground ride. They love itI can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

@Paspatur send good wishes and keeping my finger crossed for you.
YBE love the sky pic and the cat in the Xmas tree is almost identical to one I have of my cat as a kitten , luckily it only happened 1 year. Now he’s happy to sit under it.If he’d let me put a bow round him he could be a present. But I never even got a collar he would wear, it was like watching Houdini one min it was on next it was off. So I gave up.
still mega windy, and with rain last night..Worked late last night so day off today before the 2 days of madness. So if I don’t post again hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas.🎄🥂🥳Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.6 -
Morning Wort. Good news about time off :-)
Yep, it's windy. Mild 11c still.
The garden will be a case of ' clear up whatever is left' after this. I've stopped fretting.
I've 2 shiny new bird feeders out there. No birds. Not even squirrels nicking the fat balls but sign the hedgehog is still out and about. Must have come through the gate when it swung open first night - moving a large rock and heavy ornament. I might dig out there tunnel today. It's bunged up with leaves and gravel.I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

We've been dry for quite a while here; maybe most of the night.
It looks like there may be a slight reduction in the wind intensity to go with the dry day today, but it won't be calm! What I love about the strong west winds at this time of the year, is the way they remove all the messy leaves from smooth surfaces and deposit them at the other end of the field, where the next tree barrier is. Yes they'd make a fine mulch, rotted-down, but I never have time to collect them, and we have plenty of manure, composted bark etc already.
As it's the season of totally inappropriate gifts, (remember the gold, frankenstein and myrrh when you were at school?) here's hoping no one’s given you seed for some of these!

Wind has gone, and now it's blue sky above, just been out and sorting the recycling wheelie, emptying due today so thought I'd get in before it gets topped up with all my Christmas present empty boxes. I think the blue sky is giving me hallucinations!Dusty, it is about time that rose came round again, just checked and seeds are still available on auction sites
. Plus YT vids on how to grow them.
Before I forget, free P & P from Mr Fothergill & D T Brown until midnight Christmas Eve, I don't think they sell rainbow roses yetThe wind has cleared all the leaves from the paths, don't know where they are, but it's clear pathways for nowtwopenny said:

Up and out early this morning. I got a wash done and out on the line, mum and dad have got nice clean headstones and fresh flowers, and the food shop's done so that's me now 'til New Year. They'd have to be giving away gold bars for me to go out again. Or maybe a pair of good labs
I meant to ask you Paspartu, what's the other film you like? You mentioned you've 2 fave films and one is Shawshank..?
I love the greenhouses in your pic Farway, imagine the stuff you'd get done if you had those in your garden!
Are you shiny and pink with the complexion of a 20 year old now after your sandblasting 2p? Hopefully you got a good photo for your trouble?
Fingers crossed for your 8 year old Dusty. Hopefully the skilled people are right
Enjoy your day off wort, and merry christmas and a happy new year to you too if we don't see you for a bit.
OT still v windy here, still gusting 40 odd mph but it's sunny and mild with it. 12', they say. Mind the sobers keep giving rain in the next hour, well it better not for I've a line full of big washing out there - jeans, towels, himself's heavy jumpers etc. Lovely neighbour is on Wash Watch in case any of it gets transported to her garden ha haa!
Still got a full squirrel infestation here, and a lack of blackies. I think they're hunkering down while the wind goes, but it's forecast to be the same for a good few days yet - breezy, mild, bit of sun perhaps. Cold after Boxing day. They say.I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.3 -
