Awful weather - typical Brits talk

Hopefully you get back today Arb, fingers crossed
The weather making it a 4D experience, that's brilliant
The Great Escaper looks quite good but I'm yet to hear anyone heartily recommend it...
It's finally stopped raining. I was getting a bit worried about being flooded after lovely neighbour sent me the gov.uk alert thing she got. We're in a red zone apparently so just watching the next few days for it to come off the hills. There's a creak near us and 2 becks but (I thought) they were small enough and far enough away so we'd be safe enough. Time will tell.
It'll be nice to get out today after being stuck in all day yesterday

Well! Yesterday they said it was going to be dry all day with light southerly winds........got up to pitch black, rain and NE wind.
Hurrumh!!!!
So no clearing up the bedraggled mess in the garden then.
Think I will get some more net curtains so I can't see it.
Got lots of filing, bits research and painting to do. But that's not going to improve the mood. Time to dig out some radio plays to swing it along a bit.
Hope you're all staying safe with the dire reports on the news. Sunshine predicted for tomorrow. It's always tomorrow. I don't trust them.
Blackbird chuntering away crossly again this morning so that's a good sign that they are back.I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

I believed them, too. Couldn't decide between a moderately challenging 4 miler near Hartland, or an easy, but longer, 6 mile tramp on the Tarka Trail. As it turned-out, my walking friend was unwell after her flu jab, so we didn't go. Judging by the local cameras and the weather here, that was fortuitous; a wash-out everywhere in the middle and on Devon's north coasts.twopenny said:Well! I noticed the posh folk down in Salcombe had the blue skies and sunshine we were supposed to have, though! Typical!

After the weather predicted, I'm wondering if it's still there!

Very damp & soggy here, stopped raining while it gets its breath back for another lot, can't see me doing any gardening today except maybe GW on catch up
OT, it's all modern stuff now, with digital you only need to change one value [digit] to turn output to something elseArbitraryRandom said:It was good. A bit weird, but fitting for near halloween and leaves you wondering if the spooky bit was real or not (which I always like). One of the strange things was how it was filmed. I don't know how the did it (some kind of filter maybe?) but it looked and felt like an 'old' film rather than a modern remake/retelling, and it was really in keeping with the style of storytelling.know as a LUT, Look Up Table, here's wiki link to confuse even moreHere's one of my pics, first no LUT, second with LUT appliedThe advantage of a LUT is you get consistent & repeatable result every time, which makes them ideal for a "look" in a filmOriginal, no LUT
With LUT

Aye so I heard Dusty
Try a bit of samba music 2p, that always lifts me
Gotta say Farway, I prefer your first pic. The LUT'd one makes my eyes go funny.
We actually watched GW last night, and I don't feel half so special now - bladdy everyone's got a cosmos!
No rain forecast today, it's been raining these last couple of hours. Naturally."One has to free oneself from the illusion that international climate change policy is environmental policy. There was a woman who'd created herself a Japanese style garden (very nice it was too), I don't think she had a cosmos but every begger else did. So I guess it now goes on the 'common things that make me smile' list ha haa!"One has to free oneself from the illusion that international climate change policy is environmental policy. This LUT thing reminds me of the blue orchids and chrysanths they sell in supermarkets.
First look is an 'oooooh' but the second is 'weird'.
Shame you aren't nearer to join in our photo group. You'd love swapping ideas.
Yes Bluey, I used to be a latin music and dancing round the house. Rreally cheering. Not so much with the dodgy joints but I may give it a go. Giving me ideas about making dealing with the gad,, electric, water blah, blah more fun :-)
Reminds me I've years of Gardeners Question time to dig into. That's always good for household stuff.
What i really need is a dose of Hitchhikers Guide to put life back in perspective.

@Dustyevsky the climb up Orrest head is about as challenging as I like too. It was a bit slippy going back down the other side after the rain the day before, and dodging cow pats but beautiful all the same. Love the rainbow 🌈 photo, it would take me ages and I could not get a shot like that. There’s some lovely raindrops sat on the choiysia outside my window, and I know you lot could do some fancy shot of it.
I would try and get a mediocre photo from my phone but don’t know how to get it to my tablet !This morning looked bright out to the west so have chanced a wash , just pegged out, not looked at any forcast ! Just keeping a beady eye on the window.
2p I’m with you on the fake looking blue plants , there was electric blue and orange heathers when I got mine. Sorry not my thing .
I’m not enjoying the dark early mornings in the cold ,racing to get dressed quickly. Then closing the curtains after teatime. Holding off putting the heating on as I’m such a chilly person anyway and once I get a taste of it, that will be it. I do only have it as low as I can for an hour in the evening to start, then do an occasional hour if needed in the day depending on the weather.
hope you all have a lovely weekend.Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.5
