It's persisting it down out there now, so I'll be in for the day I reckon. Himself's work is flooded out so they stuck it as long as they could but they've had to give up cos it's getting worse. So that's him home now  Need to think of a job to occupy him or he'll be under my feet all day. I was only gonna have an afternoon on the sofa and trawl through the catchups to find another good film but I don't want him thinking I'm idle
That's a lovely pyracantha Farway. You take such good photos
I'm definitely a new cosmos fan. I need to research how to get seeds off my one and I'll be set for life. Actually if I worked it right I reckon we'd all be set for lifeIt's not been bothered by the storm at all, it's waving about out there now with a couple of dozen ish flowers on it. I must remember to plant it further back next year though cos it's too tall where it is. I'd not want to be without one now like.
I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.4 -

Sunday looks better, but can we trust them that far ahead?

Thanks for the birthday wishes. We had a great time ,lots of laughs. We had a walk up Orrest head then on to trout beck . Wonderful view from the top. Lucky we did it Sunday as the weather was great cold but sunny, unlike the day before which persisted down , contrary to the forcast.
I managed to get the yellow flowers in , it was raining but at least it softened the earth. I even got the dead tree out and used that spot for the big clump.
It’s been bright but cold most of the week and had 2 days of washing dried on the line outside. Not had any sign of the storm, but hope you all are staying safe.Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.6 -

They were half right here. We had the sunshine and sharp showers, but none of the thunder predicted. When we arrived home from town around midday, it looked like this:Very pretty, but with the veil of rain on the other side of the valley, I knew I'd only a minute or two to unload the car in the dry. It was a very quick snap!Glad you had a good time, wort. The map I've found for going up Orrest Head, says 'occasionally challenging,' which is roughly my limit these days, assuming we don't go off-piste and get lost. The cider drinkers, having written off tomorrow this morning, now say it might be OK after all.
I think we won't call it till around 10.00. I don't fancy a coastal one with no shelter, so it'll be the woods. There's still plenty of leaf cover here.
Lovely, bushy cosmos now Bluey. Funnily enough, I decided to buy some myself yesterday afternoon, so I ordered from Premier Seeds at around 15.50. I'm told he postie delivered them this morning at 10.00!Is that a record? Anyway, these are the ones I chose: https://www.premierseedsdirect.com/product/cosmos-bright-lights-mix/
A bit 'in yer face' compared with Blueys!

Waving hello to @DigSunPap
That's a gorgeous photo Dusty and reading the blurb for your lovely new seeds made me think that nursery people must be related to estate agents. It's clearly a skill to write enticing and true descriptions although I did wonder if this phrase in the bullet points "and may re-sow itself" really meant "it's a rampaging pest that you can never eradicate no matter what you spray on it".
In other news, a friend I met yesterday told me about some empty allotments in a walled garden near here that are going begging so I have been trying to use g**gle to discover who to approach to apply for one and frustratingly can only find a faceache group that was last active in June '21. Wish me luck as I activate my network as the americans say to see if I can get myself gardening."She could squeeze a nickel until the buffalo pooped."

Been really busy day and another tomorrow but I had to post this just especially for Farway.I went to this town and what did I see? 28 tubs of Cannas, all in flower
The yellow ones were really ragged from wind and rain but this colour held up fine. Wonder why?
I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Rain hammering down this morning ,but it’s off to work I go . His highness will be proper wet if he doesn’t come in before I go.

Oh aye, the first hour's gone Less. Prolly for the reason you say
Tbf I reckon even they'd get it right this morning.
That sounds like a good birthday wort, it really is the little things eh. Getting outside with your friends and laughing like 5 year olds - perfect
I hope my cosmos do rampage round the garden, give the bindweed and mare's tails a run for their money! Good luck with your walled garden allotment gf, fingers firmly crossed here. Have you a pub full of aul' fellahs where you live...? I bet they'd have the answer...
Cracking view there Dusty, I could sit on that wee standing stone all day and just look at itThat tall yoke in the middle, is it a bird feeder? And what's that in the stone trough - the thick reddish pink plant..? I like the look of that
Gawd look at all the cannas, lovely pic 2p. They must take some work eh. Funny about one colour being hardier than another.
It's beyond persisting it down out there this morning, it's properly lashing and has been for hours. We're about to get the worst of it too - 23mph winds gusting 46mph straight outta the east but it's calming through the morning and will only be gusting 26 by bedtimeNon-stop rain 'til 0400 tomorrow. But as long as you grape-growing rainbow-viewing canna-admiring southerners are alright, us northerners will take it ha haa
Oh and good news your dgd came down country Farway, I reckon they're getting it even worse and for longer up there. Not that they need it, poor s0ds.I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.6
