Awful weather - typical Brits talk

I seem to have missed some posts. I'm going to have to catch up tonight.
Not raining here, just wet and rain forcast from lunchtime so I'm inside when it's dry and ot when it's wet
Better than you up north so I'll bear with it.
Watching my lovely cheery chrysanths at the back door rotting with the damp and being eaten by woodlice. They just aren't content enough with demolishing my garden door.
Mild enough though.I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Quiet and dull here this morning, but with everything sodden, the coast path doesn't look attractive. No serious rain forecast and it's still very mild.twopenny said:Oh and for Dusty - 3 young ferets need a home?
We have 3 already.
Those may have good temperaments, but I'd want to handle them before committing. If a ferret is handled kindly from birth, it won't usually bite in more than a playful way. Sadly, there is no cure for them going up Uncle Norman's trouser legs, though the current tighter fashions protect the young and innocent!
YoungBlueEyes said:Cracking view there Dusty, I could sit on that wee standing stone all day and just look at itThat tall yoke in the middle, is it a bird feeder? And what's that in the stone trough - the thick reddish pink plant..? I like the look of that
The view is back now the farmer opposite has cut his hedge. The wee standing stone is a bird bath, so don't sit in it!
The bird feeder's empty because there's plenty of natural food just now and the reddish pink plant is Persicaria 'Darjeeling Red.'
I hope gf finds access to her allotment heaven. In cities like hers, they're often sought like gold. Walled is great if it provides security too.

Drying out here, has tipped down during the night so probably none left nowSome lovely pics, the rainbow one you could never repeat. The cannas, lovely, that is similar to what I had planned when I started this Spring, oh well that's gardeningCosmos, your one has turned out well YBE, the remaining one at the volunteer place is very bedraggled now, and if the weather improves I'm oiking it out and getting the pansies in thereHope the walled allotment turns up GF, it will be great soil I bet. Fingers crossed for youNo gardening today, I have to check the reduced price seed offers but think I've enough TBHEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens6

There’s plenty left in it Farway, it’s just swirled it’s way up here instead
Making hell of a racket on my conservatory roof!
Persicaria Darjeeling Red, noted. And bad news - the Oracle is ferretlessI removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.5 -
I appear to have a sunflower growing in my guttering... 🌻😁

Oh lovely Poppy!
A little ray of sunshine in these dismal days.
It won't do any harm. Probably like my surprise and from bird seed. Must burry some of that for next year.I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Isn’t that lovely! And it’s that high up the birds can get a bit of peace to niggle the seeds out 😃I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.3

Thanks to the 'weather', I'm currently stranded in South Wales (no trains getting past Shrewsbury apparently) so that's an extra night away and hopefully I can get home tomorrow.... but the cats have plenty of (horrible, dried) food to cope, the boss is happy for me to c,laim back the cost and there was a room available so happy days. That's another cooked breakfast I get to enjoy
I was in the Cinema yesterday, watching the new Poirot and there happens to be a storm for most of the film - during a really quiet scene there was suddenly thundering rain echoing everywhere - and it was on the roof! Made it a 4D experienceI'm not an early bird or a night owl; I’m some form of permanently exhausted pigeon.6 -
Aw what was it like Abs? Any good?
It would be weird without David Suchet......but this weather is all about free warmth and escapism especially when you can't get home.
I went to see The Great Escaper. It was ok.
Warmish here. Given I'm wearing winter fleece and got the winter duvet on. It's stopped raining too.
The grass is 6inches high and lush but no chance of mowing it - happilyI can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

It was good. A bit weird, but fitting for near halloween and leaves you wondering if the spooky bit was real or not (which I always like). One of the strange things was how it was filmed. I don't know how the did it (some kind of filter maybe?) but it looked and felt like an 'old' film rather than a modern remake/retelling, and it was really in keeping with the style of storytelling.
There were about 4 films I would have been happy to watch (inc the great escaper), so in the end I tossed a coin three times in a head to head to pick. If I do get stuck longer then I might go back and see another one.I'm not an early bird or a night owl; I’m some form of permanently exhausted pigeon.2
