Morning Campers ๐ย it's a lovely clear morning ๐
I do believe the colder temps are emerging properly now โ๐ฒ
Like the others, the leaf sweeping marathon will start, here, now, which is tedious - but the gorgeous smell of coal fires, bright, crisp mornings, and 'bundling up' begins ๐งค๐ขย and those are the things i like about winter ๐๐2 -
Morning all, another dull & nothing day outside, my only venture out will be to empty the tea leaves slops bucket onto a border for he worms to sort outI have given some of the indoor plants a gentle feed, nothing to strong, just a perk up mix, mainly because with using this non peat compost it just doesn't seem to be as good as previous peaty stuff, could be just the brand I bought of course at the height of the lockdown & not having a lot of choices.Soon be able to tell if the plants start moving again2P, sometimes there's a good reason why older types of plants are still around but until tried you never know what's good & what's hyped fashionableEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens1

True Farway. I like surprises even if they aren't always good. Its mild and gloriously sunny today but being the weekend and lots of people out on the moors I gave it a break.Oh dear, I went to finish jobs and the bulbs I carefully seperated in spring to dry off I didn't label so I had no idea which daffodills were which so instead of my grand idea of a multi layered pot I just stuck them artistically in the new bed I'd dug and we'll see what comes up. Maybe I'll be efficient and label them or move them thenTulips will go in a pot. But I have to open the cheap compost, the good stuff and gritย to mix so that's a job for tomorrow. It's getting dark here at 4.45 now. Not long till the days start getting longerCatsacor I hope that's not heading our way. I'm enjoying this long autumn as we had so little of the summer free.

That's lovely, Farway.
We've not had a real frost but it's been cold enough to damage the dahlias and nasturtiums.
Cool, little wind and overcast but managed to get several big pots of tulips and daffodils planted. with a bit of underplanting. I'll bung some poached egg in the daffodil pots.
Also knocked out several pots which now have a solitary tulip flower as they are all red as far as I recall. Larger bulbs now in one pot and I'll plant up to tiddlers somewhere where they might bulk up, or not.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing3 -
I like the idea of the poached egg plant with daffs. If I can find some seeds I might pinch that idea.
My neighbours have lovely displays (they have been there 20yrs) and I need a bit of oomph.
Cleared all the brambles cuttings at last, 2 dumper bags full to the tip. Must try and do small and regular next year.
Can't find my beloved pruning saw to trim the last tree. Big saw awol too. Exasperating.
Looked for someย compost for the repoting the tree. Only small bags at the price of the big ones. So may be an excuse for a run up to otter (cheese scone and coffee) to see if they have some.
So bulbs and pots still living apart.I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Sun's out at last.Another tick for poached egg plants, one of the unsung heroes IMO, like nasturtiumsRegarding pots, one year stuck for ideas I bought a ready planned collection, came with all the small plants plus a layout planting map.And it worked a treat, usual suspects of course but for anyone with only a couple of pots, as I was, it was ideal but not Money Saving2P, your pruning saw is with my stainless pocket knife & the red handled secateurs.I did read that compost will be rocketing in price now peat based is more or less banned for amateurs, makes me realise just how long I've been gardening, I was in at the beginning of peat based when John Innes mixes were the only game in town, Levington came along and it was wonderful stuff and still is I assumeIt's gone full circle now and like the cinema of old, this is where I came inRAS, my plants are same, no real frost but the coleous & dahlias are looking very sad now, I'm leaving the coleous to try & save some seeds, only for experimentation, just to see if I canOn the garden mooch here are some Klingons of Autumn raspberries photographed on Sunday, Fall Gold I think but label lost ages agoEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens7

So pretty farway. Do they taste as good?
I managed to pick s couple of raspberries yesterday. Strange times.
My lilac in a pot I want to repot has new leaf buds coming out.
Ditto the magnolia who's leaves turned black is growing flower buds. Goodness knows when I'll be able to repot them.I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

twopenny said:Is it a loofa RAS? Lovely shape and colour.
Yes it is a loofa/luffa/loofah. I think one of the "egyptian" varieties. Looking at it yesterday I think it's turning yellow, at which point it can be harvested.
The other one is very different, over twice the length, very dark and still very green. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing1 -
Misty start to the morning, but sun's on the way now and should turn out pleasant later2P the raspberries taste OK but not world beating, they make a nice mini snack while mooching around. I noticed yesterday the blackberry canes are now showing the difference between this year's & the older growth, another job for the winter monthsOver the past few days I've noticed a Jay seems to have selected the road side trees at the front for a handy perch, not seen one around for a few years so fingers crossed it likes it here.Eight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens2
