That's a fascinating link! And with all the global boiling going on, (apart from the coming winter when El Zorro will be blasting us with wind and general nastiness 😲) you and Alan are probably ahead of a new curve. 😀

After a damp start, yesterday turned out to be just the right day for chicken house disinfecting, with a good breeze and plenty sunshine. By tea time, it was so smart, and we were so tired, the fresh bed of wood shavings looked extremely inviting! 😊 Of course, the hens won't have noticed any difference.

Today it's a bright start, but with possible showers, so maybe something easier that can be dropped and picked up again, like hedge-trimming, is on the cards. No fun, but it has to be done. There again, the grass is growing so fast, the mower will be out again before long. 😕

Although the slugs have had all our mushrooms before I've found them, they didn't get these guys! 😜 Not fully grown, but if I'd left them they'd have been ruined.

Sunny start at least.

Managed to trundle the garden bin round the front for collection, on the way I was cutting back some bramble runners creeping across the path. If I left them no one would cut them & path would get overgrown. Not quite altruistic of me, I don't want to trip bum over bosom on the way.

Once round the front I did a minimal spot of gardening, removed & binned the ball courgettes, no more flowers were forming & the mildew was getting worse.

Longer term I will have a nosey in Morries to see if any suitable overwintering bedding for the tubs is around. The pots do suffer from Vine weevils, so will need a good drink of Jeyes elixir before planting up for winter.

Dusty That's a fascinating link! I thought so as well. Have a read of the T & Cs if time, lovely & honest. Not all will be perfect, some may have damaged leaves etc. I especially liked the "if you order a deciduous plant in winter, you will get a pot with a stick in it. It is not dead, just leafless and resting" I have looked them over but still pondering with winter coming on and my ability to keep them alive.

My grass is greening up, but the dandelions are way ahead, they should make a glorious display next April, At least it's insect friendly. No sign of any mushrooms / toadstools, except those delivered by Asda this morning, not as tasty as the Dusty ones but I don't have to fight slugs for them

Amazingly I've had to water again this morning, some of the pots at the front are dry despite the change in the weather and drizzle the other day

That's very positive Dusty. Satisfying a spotless hen house. I'm sure they're comfy and pleased. I'd like someone to come and clean mine from top to bottom.

Do you cook a lot of fungi? I had a friend who used to back in the day when people did things instead of staring at screens. It was always fun to turn up for lunch. Now I see a fungi walk offered for £25!

I had lots of plans for today but another sudden shower has put paid to the garden and furniture renovation. Cold north breeze too. I have lots of Dom non to do but really not in the mood to deal with the non part of it so it's off for a drive to a small town and hope it's all dried out and sunny by the time I get back. We'll see what the day holds.

Weird, despite checking Farway s post didn't show 🤔

Did find some hazelnuts on the path that have escaped from squirrels to add to my nut bowl.

Looked at plants outside shops but the prices were eye watering 😲

Had a long chat with a lady at the farm shop about foraging, growing your own and perennial veg. The previous owner grew wild briar roses for the hips. No watering. Very interesting. As Tesco's are having a refit/not stocking up/tent for dry goods and no meat because the fridges have broken I can see me sourcing new more restful shopping.

Finally after a cup of tea going to mow the lawn, hopefully.
