Love the sunset through rainy glass, wort, especially the first. 😇 Mrs Dusty caught a similar downpour when putting the hens to bed. I was already indoors, having suddenly discovered a pair of shorts and T-shirt were not adequate for our evenings now. 😐️ Only a few stalwart swallows remain, and the house martins have all headed south. 😥

2p :Off early tomorrow for said groups outing. Afternoon set to rain - possibly.

No, it'll be fine….I hope! Friend and I are at Rosemoor, mid-afternoon. 😉 It should be more relaxed than the last visit with the GCs, and the Lego/willow sculptures should still be present.

In view of the rainy weather, I spent part of yesterday replacing a weather board above the large door to the workshop in the barn. The last one disintegrated last winter, allowing driving rain inside.😯 I've also started repairing fence posts in the chicken orchard so we can limp through another winter with the remaining birds. We'll probably re-home the two youngest when the older pair shuffle off to join the heavenly flock.🤔 Once they're gone, we'll not need to replace the 6' fencing, which would cost.a small fortune.

In other news, a planning notice from the council arrived for displaying at the roadside, telling all and sundry about our application for a Certificate of Lawful Development. How much they'll understand from the legal 🤒prattle is unclear, but it's all online. There's no sinister purpose, beyond getting our property paperwork in order, but that doesn't mean someone won't invent ulterior motives! 😄

We have healthy young people coming here tomorrow to pick apples and (hopefully) move heavy stuff, like sleepers, in the way of sowing a new area of grassed track, dividing our garden from the agricultural parts of the site. The ground is now damp enough for that to go ahead, despite the mini 'heatwave' predicted for next week. We're allegedly getting a max of 22c. 😏

These probably won't be the apples chosen tomorrow, as most have now fallen. A local heritage variety, they don't keep, nor is the taste particularly good. Their chief claim to fame was being ready for Crediton (Kirton) Fair….but this year they were also late! 🤒

Evocative pics Wort, I did try similar a bit back, but not as good as yours. 2P, bit of a cliche and been done before, but the old but gold reflection of whatever in a rain drop or a puddle? One of those shots that looks easy but harder to achieve.

E-mail from Farmer Gracy, my plants are on the way, daffs & day lilies. Daffs I can wait a bit to plant, the day lilies I'll pot up until I decide where to plant them. I'm tempted to try and improve some the carp soil at front and pop them in there. Ideal spot is down the bottom of the garden, but I want to have them close to appreciate them

Good news, until objections, on the planning Dusty. Nice looking tree, even if the apples are not up to much. I looked it up, supposed to be sweet & juicy right off the tree but I think there is often a good reason older varieties fade way and are replaced by newer ones

By complete coincidence DD is on holiday near Cheriton this week, due back this weekend.

No one can object on planning grounds, where a breach of planning has occurred for >10 years. Whether people 'get' that is another matter! 🤔

The only thing which may be challenged is our account of the land use over the period in question. As that's factual, challenging it might be hard!

Is that Cheriton, or Crediton with added autocorrect? We have both. One has a Bishop. Well, actually, both, but I try hard to forget the Crediton one. She's on a different part of the spectrum from me! 🤣

No gardening got done, some more hazel nuts collected. Phone on the blink, iron packed in. Any idea how complicated it is to buy an iron 🙄. Got to support friends tomorrow in a samba band and dancing at an outdoor do. Maybe go to the repair cafe with the iron if I can fit it in.

Ah, the rain must've gone your side of the Moor. We had dull and a few spits and spots, but happily, it came to nothing. 😊

For irons, you need a supermarket catering for the new uni students. Mrs Dusty just picked one up at £18, which was under half price.

Well, as hinted, Rosemoor could have been sunnier, but we almost had it to ourselves, and there was plenty to see, especially in the fruit and veg dept. The Legos were still there, and as you can see, summer is still hanging on …..just about.

Without the GCs I'd more time to study the plants, including the somewhat poisonous 'Potato Bush' from South America. Here's a better photo of that.

Today, it's a grey start, with long periods wet stuff predicted for all of us in the South West, but maybe quite light at times. The week ahead looks better. 😀

Irons, I was going to say the same, any supermarket with electrical area, Argos, Curry but I suppose it depends what type of iron & what shops are easier to reach. Could always go Up River of course, one Basics steam, non stick, on there on offer £9.90 from £14.69

Powdery mildew is starting in my garden, the courgettes of course, but now the dahlias are starting to succumb, one Bishop has it bad & this morning I spotted some appearing on Cafe Au Lait

The reduced pots I bought in Morries the other week, could be ideal for my new daffs that are on the way. Once they arrive i can give it more thought. I have a pair of matching pots so if enough bulbs it could be very symmetrical

No gardening planned, may drill holes in the pots if CBA later. I have a new DT brown catalogue arrived, browse that. Maybe catch up GW. A busy day ahead 😂

White cloud blanketing the sky with a wind the is not sure whether it's going to blow or not.

There's an outdoor music festival I'm obliged to go to this morning to ramp up support for friends and I'd rather be turning out the garage or hacking away at the shrubbery but needs must.

Forecast predicts rain and 30mph winds for the only day in weeks 🙄 so not sure what's to happen.

Bought a second hand iron which looks like it was used to iron wire wool but still better than the supermarket ones. Surprising what stock is deemed suitable. Bit like the dead trees they want £20 for.

I have some photos to share if I ever get around to downloading them off my camera. Got to be done soon. It's so much easier to snap away than make selections and organise.

You were right, the fig twig that I thought was dead has sprung into life with the cooler weather.

Both similar distances from Clovelly. I go to Clovelly Court, but not the village, which is a different proposition financially.😯 There's probably still a free way in if you're young and fit, but I'm neither now, and my fitter walking friend can't be arrised with it either nowadays.

Mildew? My second tranche of courgettes is showing it, simultaneously with flowering, so it's a race now to see whether a crop results before they succumb.🤔 They even have it at Rosemoor, along with some very tasty looking patty pan squash:
