Storm Chandra announced, bringing amber rain and strong winds pretty close to us soon, not that I think they're that accurate....Farway said:Dry so far, but a bad 'un for tomorrow, no snow, just gales & rain.It (AI) omitted the bit about knocking seed pots onto the floor sometime in April

AI hasn't learned yet; it's pirked-out on MSE!
I'm tempted to have a go this year with Gaura, but knowing how busy things get, maybe the April drop would almost be a blessing. Our Cosmos didn't go in until September last year.

Wort how lovely Angel Wings 🙂 I knew someone who had a real beauty but when she finally decided to sell some offshoots I chucked out.
Taff open the doors of your shed, remove what you want to keep and one of these storms should blow it out the rest so it's someone else's problem 😈
Dusty rare walnut, heavy pruning and leave a saw propped against it. It will flourish in no time 🙂
Sell black walnuts at hefty prices as a health benefit 😉
Bluey my thoughts don't go ahead far enough to think valentine's. The otters are in a rescue, visitor attraction and we're waiting for their next meal to be delivered 😊
I was wrong about getting a whole day awake and wanted to sleep by lunchtime but met a lady who kept talking for 2.45 minutes!
Absolutely bamboozled now.
No rain till now. Predicted torrents on way. We'll see.
The garden is a mess thanks to the birds getting moss off the roof and digging over the flower beds but no hope of getting out there so here's a little thing I found when looking through my sketches with a gardening poem of mine.
Done decades ago, shows some things never change 😉
I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Morning all, Up Helly Aa!
Farway BBM liked your penguin/nun joke, he hadn't heard it either
Those gaura instructions don't look hard at all, I'll lift some seeds if I see them
Good to hear the farmer has the measure of Mr C Dusty, that'll make things easier eh? Your tree conundrum - when you get it felled, are there any chainsaw/carver/artist people that would help with the removal? A grand though!
2p your gardening poem is spot on! Cats are so disdainful and selfish, rotten swines. Fingers crossed today you get a whole day awake
Speaking of cats - I took a photo at the weekend of the Holy Roamin' Terror. I hadn't seen him in a while, turns out Lovely Neighbour had been keeping him in cos he's damaged. Having cleared the place of all other cats, small dogs and errant children, he decided to take on a fox. Yep really. He either got half his face bitten or clawed off and his gums and teeth on one side are a mess. Poor s0d
Not a great pic cos he wouldn't sit still. I don't think it's taken the fire outta him either cos he's still stalking about the place and protecting all he surveys from the roof of my car his lookout post.
Had a bit of a walk to work yesterday morning cos the weather was alright, good job I did cos I saw "bums" -
Other websites, body parts, counties, and modes of transport are available.
OT - ever so windy, quite rainy, and not at all warm out there. 4' but FL -9, they say, with 27 mph winds gusting 44mph. It'll top out at 46mph soon and then drop right off. Persisting it down too 'til mid afternoon, possibly. Good job I got a walk yesterday for I'll not get one today

A completely On Topic post!
Looking at the weather (I'm usually heading out the door about now for a good walk to work but not in this weather I'm not), I've seen two new-to-me things.
I've never seen visibility down to 1 mile (this is from my forecast) -
I've never seen pressure this low either (this is Cissie's) -
Hope you suvveners are all buttoned up :fingerscrossed:Honesty is the best poverty.7 -
Stinky wants a walk YBE and isn’t listening to my arguments about the weather! I might take him when the wind has dropped a bit.
Our visibility is 3 miles (well, it’s flat here!) but pressure is 988 and dropping rapidly.6 -
Farway, fancy AI knowing what haggis looks like! It's very smart
2p, congrats on bring almost mended..Cat poem and pic spot on...Also spot on advice about the shed
. I managed to give a piece of OSB and a metal thingy to ndn yesterday to hold his tarp down on his roof, place looks a lot tidier without them, but i will be having them back. I do have plans for the metal thing but would be happy to lose the OSB.ybe, fancy another Crais fan around
John Connoly is a good one for quasi supernatural elements along with some body count, with some interesting friends.. Cage is done done, good job too, there's hobbling in my future for the next couple of days. Next is prune the apple tree...after finding something sturdy to stand on. Lurgy gone gone? As an aside, we paid 2.5k to remove a ten stemmed cypress/leylandii cross beast a couple of years ago. Poor Roamin' Terror, obviosuly the fox is in tiny pieces somewhere and he's visiting daily to wee on it. Your weather app and warnings prompted me to look at flood warnings, so I was most gratified to find this [ not the flooding part, just the incredibly appropriate names...]Flood warning for Groundwater flooding for the Piddle Valley
Areas that could be affected include: Piddletrentide, Piddlehinton, Puddletown, Tolpuddle and Affpuddle.
Dusty, why is the walnut barren? Can it be kickstarted? I think I'd say goodbye to the willow and see what happens after that.Cage is done! I can't walk today though..Never mind, prune aple tree next [ very inexpertly though, it will be a massacre. Raining and windy, looking to take off behind neighbours polycarbonate roof at some point, it's already flapping about.

YoungBlueEyes said:Hope you suvveners are all buttoned up :fingerscrossed:There's been a lot of wind and rain overnight, and the big river is in the fields and still rising.
Although it's very breezy, there's some sunshine, it's 8c, and I can see Dartmoor, 20 miles away. What we had has probably moved up and across to you. Sorry about that.
We weren't keen to hang onto it!
The farmer who brings his sheep to us will probably wish he did it last week, as parts of his lower fields will be underwater. He's been fully occupied by lambing recently. If we have a relatively dry day, it could all be over by tea time. Tomorrow looks quite benign. Right now, the trains aren't running, the main road to Exeter is flooded, and I'm happy just to stay put, up on our hill.

Such a cute kitty drawing 2p. The poor roaming terror, that looks painful. Thanks for the gaura info, I’m not the best with seeds so if I can get some may try, otherwise wait for plants to appear. The meal was good , the place was packed as usual, they know what they’re doing as the drinks aren’t on offer .
It was desperate cold walking there and back ,even with full complement of hats etc.
The wind and rain lashed against my window all night keeping me awake, I was shivering in bed even though it was warm and cosy in there. Hoping I’m not coming down with something. Weather looks to continue in the same vein. So no plans to do anything.Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.6 -

Ah, the Dorset Piddle.....kids used to love those names on school trips. Don't forget Tincleton!
The Black Walnut probably wants a more North American climate than we can provide. As it's shading the productive ordinary Walnut tree, I'll probably cut the larger part away, but try to keep and shape the smaller trunk. The willow was never meant to get that large, so it will definitely go, but re-growth is likely inevitable.I know what you mean about the cage. My equivalent is the cutting back on the top hedge to get it clear of the fence. I'm still doing that in hourly bursts. Here's a photo of what I'm up against:
The chainsaw hates the thin branches, and being short, I can't reach far enough! :'( Gotta watch the wires too! Anyway, go for it with the apple trees.
That's my next job....
I do hope your door greeting duty hasn't put you in the way of a bug, wort. No doubt you do it much better than younger staff, but the grey suits should give you an easier time.
Love the bus bum photo, Bluey. Poor old Terror, and his war wound, but he has to do his duty.
I've seen a stand-off between urban fox and cat, but normally they'll just avoid each other. I wonder what the fox did....or was it a badger?

Bum, typed a reply, and the MSE lords & masters updated the forum mid type. Lost it all, but have gained a new icon entry pad 😡
Heavy rain overnight, not much wind though. Flooded local roads are reported
Plus my internet is flicking on & off, maybe rain in the bytes.
Ah yes, the Piddles, much merriment from offspring when we trundled past on the A35 to Dustyland on hols. We did veer off a bit to Tolpuddle once, curiosity and history really. Not much to see, not sure what i expected TBH, serfs hanging in chains?
Brave Holy Terror, must have been some scrap. And well spotted bum pic Bluey, like buses wait ages then loads come along?
Glad BBM like the penguin / nun joke, harmless fun to start the week, nice habit to get into 🙄
Watercress update, just to remind you, from Asda, trying to root bits in glass of water on window sill. No roots yet, but looking healthy & dark green now. I'm changing the water daily
Haggis pic now removed. I went down a rabbit hole and looked up my surname fake tartan, I should have had the Haggi dressed in that, or maybe a penguin one
No gardening today, wet and gross outside
