Awful weather - typical Brits talk

It seems Less has figured-out selective quoting, so it's obviously me with the brain fog now!
Farway, you're right; a fine start this morning is due to turn to heavy rain here, causing walking friend and I to cancel a trip to Rosemoor. 😥
I'm glad you liked the Haggis video, Farway. I'm compiling questions for a quiz next month, and Cullen Skink is a strong candidate for inclusion. 👨👩👧 It looks as if you may get more gardening done than me, unless there are a few breaks in the rain. Maybe I'll be forced to fire up the propagator for an early start to some chillies, even though I know better! 🤔 2p's also due this rain, so perhaps it's a trip to the library for her.
Tomorrow looks better.
Looking through the archives for inspiration I came upon this photo from exactly 12 years ago, when the neighbouring farmer's sheep broke in and trashed the emergent stream garden. To be fair, I'd not planted much at that stage, but after this incident, I informed the farmer I'd be planting hellebores! A proper fence went up on his side within a few weeks! 😂

Inverse logic Dusty 😊 I did the same with rugby/footballs coming into my garden and breaking stuff. Apparently asking nicely to desist I was told that's what kids do. So I returned each one separately day after day to reception. They had to thank me, locate the dept and they had to find the child. After a week - no more balls 😄
Just spread so weed and feed on the lawn. It grows here all year round so fingers crossed 🤞
It's brightish, cool and damp. Neighbour said there's a depression via Barometer and you two say rain. I'm exhausted today and tried rallying to no avail so I think it's the sofa for me and hope tomorrow's better.

Sadly not, it's just that peops keep mentioning me at the beginning of a post - scroll down via the arrow and the rest of it is all there😁
Sunny morning, almost warm; cold rain arrived mid pm, more of the same forecast tomorrow 😕
Pulmonaria trying to flower though, awaiting photo-op🙂

2p I have used borrowbox, I heard you can choose which library so not necessarily your nearest, so a big city may have more books. I just joined the local one, I should use it more but it’s on my tablet and the battery life isn’t great. But yes there are magazines as well as books. You can reserve if there’s no copies available, which blows my mind as you would imagine if it’s digital 🤔 but what do I know probably copywright.
Work weekend, and the heating that got fixed on Monday was off again 2 days later. They are also moving everyone’s hours again, which invariably causes upset and worry. Roll on retirement.Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.6 -
Interesting Wort. Yes I could see a selection of libraries when I set it up. And it goes over all your devices. I thought I'd have to download it on my phone but it disapprovingly snapped at me that I'd already got it 😐 and seems like you just have to open it. Every day a learning curve.
Grim about the hours being in the mixer. Don't they realise people have real lives to arrange? Hope the heating is on today.
Less we seem to have the same weather at the moment. The garden beds look like a mudslide. Yesterday was a good choice to stay in as it rained. I often forget to do nothing. It should happen every so often. Too much emphasis these days about achieving and experiencing, forgetting to just relax and enjoy the moment.
More crocus and daffs in bud. The poor snowdrops are curled up and flowering close to the ground. Everything just wanting a bit of sunshine.
More rain today and for the foreseeable. Too much flooding to get out and about. It's not too cold and I could clear up the garage or lounge and read a book. Hmmm we'll see 😉

Morning all, on International Zebra Day
Ah for god sake, what have they done to the place?! I was on the other morning reading and liking, but it wouldn't let me turn the page because "maintainance". Why is it all spaced funny, and where's the preview button gone? Will I have to read the How To page will I? sigh Apparently yes because I just typed a * then sigh then another * and it italicised the sigh and took my asterisks away. This is a right dog's dinner. And where's the bold button gone?!
Ok from memory - I love the carved sculpture tree Dusty  and what's the problem with hellebores and sheep?
Is that you about back to normal 2P? Sounds like we've given it to Less - sorry Less. Hopefully you're younger and fitter than us and you'll be over it quicker :fingerscrossed:
Woohoo on repotting your apple Farway. Maybe your luck is in and the suicidal morries wosnames will thrive :)
Roll on retirement indeed wort. Are you sat at a desk at work? Could you get a little heater under there? I know they're dear to run but it's not your leccy bill :naughty:
OT mild and calm but a bit damp out there. It's rained overnight I think but no more today. They've given sunny (sunny!) and a bit nothingy, which I'll take cos I've a lot to do today. And I must get in that garden before tomorrow too. With extra thick gloves on cos I've acquired a big black bastud cat from somewhere who uses the whole place as a toilet :grrr:
Right off to learn about sea haggises, which I didn't even know existed

Our DD2 is just returning to full-time work, and Mrs Dusty has to cover the odd days when the local nursery can't accommodate DGS. Eight o'clock start 12 miles away should be fun!😂 Demand for the best nursery places is huge, so DGS won't enter his 'proper' one in Exeter until September.
I believe the heating is much like yours, but DD has a role involving a lot of moving between floors, and physical activities, so she's less affected. It's different if tied to a specific place, or worse, like you are sometimes, at the entrance or in the loading areas.😨
Oh well, maybe they'll address this shortcoming. Otherwise, I can always do like I did above with wort's post
Yesterday wasn't quite as dire as predicted, so I got outside in the afternoon long enough to find material for finishing the new deep bed. 😊 I've even started the next (and last) one, assuming we're not asked to 'Dig for Victory.' 😕
Fortuitously, I also had a look at the stream, and met the neighbouring farmer, who has assumed the dead elm is his, rather than shared. As he's planting more new trees in the field corner, he'll be taking the dead section of elm out very soon while there's still easy access. That's taken a heap of worry off my mind! 🤩
So, a day that began badly, turned out not so bad after all.

I have now learned about hagii. That's a fab site, I really enjoyed it 😀 I had a look round the shop while I was there - bit disappointed to see all kinds of clothes and books, but no calendar! What's the point of AI if it isn't giving us Haggis Through The Year?
I've also read the How To page, well skim read, and they've given us emojis in place of preview/bold/italic/strikeout buttons 🤗 Which is fine but I want the strikeout button back cos I don't know how to do that on my keyboard…
Good news on the farmer + elm situation Dusty, that's one less thing eh 😊

Or something like this…🙂 The posting upgrade seems to have caused chaos, according to the number of email notifications I've had about it! (I know I could prob switch them off, but doing something which should be simple like that has sometimes proved difficult in the past, or led to unintended consequences…)

Maybe he had a quick look at the price of elm…?🤔
Thought I was over the lurg yesterday morning, but still having moments of feebleness…(despite my age!😁)

I looked up how to do bold etc on Android but it seems the facility isn't there on mine. Besides it was a real hassle. So caps will have to do.
Less, sounds like the same thing. Feel relatively normal then suddenly keel over. I was told 6weeks and said 'pfft' then I remember when I had it before it was about the same. Could only do a bit and then no more. Ok after that.
Pootling around today making curtains so I don't have to look at neighbours enormous cars filling my bedroom. Used to have a lovely view of skies and gardens but other neighbour have a huge car that blocks their garden. Used to be daffs all along the road. The size of cars seems to be in direct proportion to how little they use them 🤔
Then there's a nearby club that erected massive lights blocking the view of the hill and extension blocking some sky so some rearranging involved.
Neighbours have some lovely standard pots of deep red camelias blooming - when I can see them. I've never been lucky with those. They stop blooming as soon as I get them home 😬
I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!
