Bit later this morning, shopping delivery, but it beats hanging around in Dunelm I guess-Am I the only person who has never set foot in Dunelm, or that Swedish furniture shop with meatballs?I've never been in a Subway, either, come to think of it. Such a sheltered life
..
I suspect the women found they could no longer reach the lathes, or climb in bomb bays, once the men came home and impregnated themDustyevsky said:I agree, Farway's Mum looks splendid, even if the background's fake. Whatever happened to ladies after WW2? Why did they give up the girl power?I think the concerning thing about AI isn't Farway's allium and pansy mix; it's potentially not knowing what is real any more. Still, that may mean more people ignoring most of the manufactured nonsense designed to occupy us or wind us up. I can dream! On your 25c heating, Bluey, yesterday, I heard some chap on Auntie, describing his latest charity adventure and bemoaning the signs of climate change he witnessed in the nether regions. Oh, it was awful! I wonder how he got there? Bicycle, I expect. Now, he's off to America to scope out his next challenge, on the bike again. The presenters bemoaned the state of things, thanked him, then told listeners why they'd been absent for a week or two. It was their holibobs abroad.... on their bikes, naturally.
The colours here seem to have changed for me too, but I guess the earth didn't move, so I didn't notice. They're quite like the ones I have elsewhere in my browser thingy. My MSE has a purple horizontal header, with pinkish background, which I suppose it could be wimpish lilac. Easy on my wonky eyes anywayThe climate one sounds similar to one I was listening to, all this grass growing where dessert should be, and now ships can go round the top of Russia to get to Europe, instead of having to go round Africa, terrible, saves a fortnight and gallons of fuel and carbon, hurrumph, think of the Polar Bears. On swallows, and linked with all this boiling, watch out for glossy Ibis, seems the blighters are coming over here now, reports of flocks of them seen lurking this side of the Channel.https://www.wildlifetrusts.org/wildlife-explorer/birds/herons-egrets-spoonbill-and-crane/glossy-ibisLast word on AI, this is only the start, just think back to first mobile phones or your first computerNot much gardening for me today, my wheelie bin was emptied, so needs trundling around the back, so I can get going on the rest of the buddlias and anything else I spotAlso need to make my squirrel-resistant cage for the pots before I plant out the AlliumsApologies for any spelling errors, I had a good spell check on the old, but duff, PC This one is not user-friendly, a work in progressNumerus non sum6 -
I think I prefer dessert to desert anyway, Farway
That was a great pic of your Mum, with added AI, so clever.
I knew your scarf had birds on it, YBE, I just couldn't remember what they were, although I thought swallows or swifts (always get them mixed up). Did you delete your post or was it the mods??
greenbee, I didn't know kennel cough was so contagious. I'm glad Stinky is getting out for walks now.
Lovely Cosmos, Dusty, very autumnal looking.
Hope you've warmed up, twopenny.
Has anyone ever used horticultural vinegar on weeds?? I saw it mentioned on another forum (I'd never heard of it) and apparently it kills weeds quite quickly, but google tells me it doesn't kill the roots.
Another dry day with sunny spells. I'd be out in the garden, but there are workmen in the road making an absolute racketso instead I'm making soup (roasted butternut squash and red pepper with lentils) and spending money online...

You possibly know but humans with compromised immune systems can catch kennel cough from dogs also. It can cause pneumonia etc.
If you are seeing anyone compromised please don’t take your dog, and disinfect regularly, to stop it coming back . Hope he’s soon better.
Farway that pic of your mum is great , at least AI is being used for good effect there.Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.6 -
Thanks wort. Yes - I did know, he stayed in the house and garden once we knew there was a problem and has been kept away from dogs and people for an additional two weeks. Most of the bedding (and toys) has been through the WM … just two more loads to go! Thankfully it only lasted a couple of days. He’s now busy growling at muntjac barking outside the fence…

Morning all
I was going to offer to be AnonymousDog's winter accommodation gb but 2p beat me to it ha haa! I like your muntjac supplier, very should-be-more-common sense. So it's a bit like roadkill rules then? - if you hit a deer you can't take it home with you cos that'd be poaching, but the car behind you can collect it as roadkill. Very sensible.
Hope MrsD's procedure went well Dusty? You're right about how quick they threw up carefully built those nightingale hospitals. That's what himself does and honestly I would think twice about using one, if there was one near me that they staffedAbsolutely squillions and squillions they all cost (they did nightingale courts too but they didn't get much press), it was a shame and disgrace. Himself's boss did really well out of it. And I absolutely agree with you about the err bike riders :rolleyes I often think 'I can't be the only one wondering how that news presenter got to the tropical beach to show us a glum turtle.. did you walk? Anyway. Bright Lights is well named eh, very jolly on a dull day
I've never been to the ...Swedish Embassy.. (<---thanks to the long gone @G_M) either Farway but I do like Dunelm. I've eaten a Subway, once, but I've never had a Costa (disagree with their umm international policies). I've never had a Smash Burger, and I've never seen Star Wars either. I seem to be surviving alright so far thoughJeez I'm an ignorant turnip sometimes - I thought the ibis was that mammal/small african deer thing with the twisted horns on it 'til I clicked your link
So we've got those now as well have we? That's nice. Any chance they eat squirrels?
I deleted my pic pp cos I'm not sure they're allowed, for health'n'safety reasons or personal security or summat. And I don't know either if my wrap thing was swallows or swifts, I lifted it cos it was seasonal and in a lovely blue to go with my wee bouquetI've never heard of horticultural vinegar either, sounds like it came from the school of like tartan paint to me. Or maybe it is real and it's just vinegar in fancy clothes to make people pay more for it
I'll ask the gardening one at work today, see is she's heard of it.
Hope you're alright out there @taff and you've just got out of the habit of this place, rather than there being something wrong.
OT Same again reallyCool and dry and sunny and a tiny bit breezy. Currently 9'c with a high of 16'c to come, they say. Lovely high pressure though, I think it makes all the difference. I really need to get in my garden tomorrow and do major weeding *sigh* You watch, it'll unforecastedly rain now I've said that.

Bit of a sunset last nightCompostybag Carparkii is still going strongI do like it’s twisty bitsShout out to people who don't know what the opposite of in is.7 -
Funny, I thought an Ibis was a type of deer too....the Mandela effect?
Well, that bloke on Monopoly definitely had a monocle when I was a nipper!
We had your sunset here too, Bluey, but I was too cream-crackered to snap it, having done my tip run and lots of chores.Mrs Dusty's hand is still painful, and the verdict can't be given for a while yet, but the man with the needle wasn't so good as the one at the real hospital. That does have proper parking, and it's so good, we always use a road away from the complex and walk in!Sadly, I fear Compostybag Carparkii isn't going to make it before the frosts hit.It should be doing 'something' by now. One of our grapes is looking promising, but alas, it's still bitter and pippy.
It's supposed to be Lakemont, but clearly isn't, despite me paying £17 for it at a GC. By contrast, my friend's unnamed grape at the coast produced a month ago, and has no pips, so the obvious answer is to take half a dozen cuttings from that.Today is van MoT day, but I'm taking medicines to a couple of nonagenarians in the posterior end of nowhere at that time, so Mrs Dusty will have to deal with the phone call. I'm expecting a small bulkhead weld and brake discs, but there's always something else.If it's steering rack, or similar, then I've 3 weeks to get rid.
We thought our weirdy neighbours, who live 99% indoors, were feeding the hedgehogs, but Mrs D caught one of them (neighbours, not hedgehogs!) yesterday, and they denied it. They said the strange things around their lawn are cameras, and they see the hedgehogs most nights. Also foxes, but never badgers. So, that clears up what's getting to the filberts and walnuts and cracking them open overnight.OT: More high pressure here as well, with clear skies, but no frost this morning. Top temp, 17c. That'll do me.

Has anyone ever used horticultural vinegar on weeds?? I saw it mentioned on another forum (I'd never heard of it) and apparently it kills weeds quite quickly, but google tells me it doesn't kill the roots.I loved the Mum outcome as well, I'm still experimenting but it amazes me just how good it is, apparently there is a super-duper one around but not tried thatHorticultural vinegar, not heard of it, but I guess as it's just strong acetic acid, so should kill the tops of weeds.Maybe controversial but it seems Glyphosate is better & cheaperIn one experiment, rats fed Roundup lived longer than those fed HV. !Nice sunset Bluey. Nothing like it here, but with my AI I can make one up nowHope MOT goes okay, Dusty, always a nail-biter.At least you do have grapes, mine never arrived, not even blossom., So I can't blame the squirrels for eating them.Out watering early this morning, the trough contents are wilting and rain is not likely until the weekendOdd weather, I found two lily beetles while I was out there, a bit late in the year for them, my lilies have long since shrivelled upgreenbee said:According to google, Ibis is a hotel chainFound another use for AI, I uploaded a pic of my should be but are not Golden Delicious apples, with a description, early, not good keeper etc and ruler & coin for scaleChat says they are Blenheim Orange, and having cross checked I'd say it's trueHere's what I uploaded, I added the words after they were identified.

Same advisories as last year, but then it's not covered many miles since. Now we should get a decent price, and the job of working out what to replace it with begins.
That's a grand use for AI. Perhaps I'll give it a go when I've recovered from the aggro surrounding what should've been a straightforward delivery of some medication. Luckily, the recipient, aged 92, was more on the ball than the person doing the admin, or I'd still be driving about in the wilds...Just say, "No!"5
