I get the same, except there's an open porch, so the cats can sit in there and watch for a while, then nip around the back, through their flap, eat some food....rinse and repeat.
I know dogs are potentially less fussy, Bluey, but one dog trip out and back is equivalent to 8 cat excursions when it comes to the amount of muck they bring in on their feet. And despite what they think, I'm smarter than the cats, so if they're being a real pain, I can lock the inner cat flap at the back, making them divert into the conservatory, where every chair has a cat-proof cover.

Hopefully Bowes passes muster Dusty, it was a lovely place, in a lovely spot, and not tooo big. The staircase was impressive, but whoever laid the steps did it right - they were shallow and wide - so even though there are a good few of them it's no bother trotting up and down themAnd I was pleased to note that, even though it was a long old poke to get there, my eyesight was absolutely fine
OTOH, I love the French style and the staircase info is a plus. I'm doing stairs again properly now, though, and ladders. In a little while I'll have to retrieve the one I was on yesterday, which fell in the gale. There are still a few kilos of black gunge to remove from the barn's guttering.
It's calm today, so that'll be easier, but early this morning, I left trails in the grass, and the temperature was around 5c. Drunkards say it'll be a staggering 12c later when the sun breaks through.
Today's photo, a simple arrangement of flowers anyone can grow.Just say, "No!"7 -
Congrats YBE
TBH the cats are mostly less hassle than the dog... If necessary I can just stick food in their bowls twice a day and leave them to it. If I'm away, they just need someone to do the same. The dog has to be let out every time he thinks he needs a wee, and has to be walked (although not at the moment due to post-cough quarantine, and I'm quite enjoying, even if he isn't!).5 -
Sorry I’m in the cat camp, had a dog years ago much harder work. The cat would be no bother at all if I got a cat flap, only I don’t want presents bringing in 😳 plus he imitates a good fur blanket when it’s cold.
No Morries here Farway, closed down some years back. Tbh looked online and screwfix do a tub think it has to be ordered day before though. I just need a car to pick it up, it’s on a hellish roundabout !! I could look at delivery but then it would take the price up to Amazonian prices.
YBE I live in fitflop brand all summer, and actually have a pair of their boots. The adidas are for work.
Been and done another couple of hours in the garden chopping at the back, I need to borrow someone s bin now. Also had an hours walk up to the cemetery this morning, beautiful crisp sunny day it’s been.Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.3 -
Ooh I second Titania & Oberon adorning the walls of our Bothy 2p, that'd do rightly
What did you notice in it that made you chuckle...?
Aren't you + bro handsome beasts Farway! Is your brother a cheeky little sod... he's got the eyes for it ha haa.
Yep we were married at The Old Forge and stopped in Gretna Hall. It actually didn't feel like a touristy conveyor belt, the vicar was calm and soft spoken and a lovely man in general, and there were other parties going on at the Hall so it wasn't all weddings. Anybody thinking of gerrin' hitched I'd recommend it in a heartbeartI'd also heartily recommend the pub we stayed in in Derbyshire - The Old Hall Inn @ Whitehough. Absolutely beautiful pub, done up properly, with an actual chef who knows what's he's doing. They're even bought the place next door and turned it into a replica basically, called The Paper Mill, and it's flying too. Not a bit wonder. Anyone who fancies a treat, try it - https://www.old-hall-inn.co.uk/ The roads are really up+downy though, my god my wee swift was sorely tested trying to get up some of them. But Italian tuneups are good for clearing gunk outta your pipes eh so
Bowes doesn't have a lake (that I saw) Dusty, is a lake on the shopping list now is it? Fine by meSeems to me the only way to do cats is to be smarter than them
Hopefully your guttering job was easy in the good weather. And I'm not saying anything about marigolds *harrumph*
Is AnonymousDog getting better gb? Poor wee soul. You just can't do anything 'til they're all the way better cos it's so contagious
How are the rest of the poorly folks doing? To save me going back a dozen pages - is the Scraped Face One healing nicely?Shout out to people who don't know what the opposite of in is.4 -
What are you doing back Bluey ?
Shouldn't you be all lovey dovey with your new husband?
The picture you could start in the left hand corner and enlarge.....then do the same in the trees 😉 but it's hidden all over.
Unfortunately if you go smaller you can't see the real naughtiness.
It was a row with the council in a competition and they didn't see the retribution, just like most people and thought it was just pretty.
Seems this info doesn't come up on the net. The art world take themselves too seriously 😳
Well, got the lawns mowed, Sheesh I managed but I think I'm going to have to hire someone.
Dug trimmed and planted. The hardest bit is getting stuff too and from the garage. Back was a gonner but off for a hot bath and so far it seems to be recovering.
Dusty I'm not a fan of African marigolds but they look real pretty in that vase.
Dogs v cats?
Well a well known saying 'a door is what a dog is always on the wrong side of '

Aw, YBE, HUGE congratulations, you gorgeous pair
What a lovely thing to do, especially at Gretna. We stop off there instead of going to Gretna Service Station, so know it well and have seen a few weddings there. We have thought about renewing our vows there (I know, extremely cheesy), but are now thinking the wee chapel in Vegas, presided over by Elvis
I'm so glad (and envious) that you got to see the Silver Swan. It's absolutely stunning and makes me even more determined to go and see it. Trust you to take a pic of it's bum

Weird orange cloud tonight…

Wasn't it cold last night? Any colder and I'll have to put a duvet in the cover ha haa! Lovely clear dawn though, and a good few stars out when I got up this morning
I see what you mean about that pic now 2p. I still vote we have one somewhere, if your painting skills are up to it
I think cemeteries on crisp sunny days, with crows squawking in the trees are just right wort
Fantastic orange cloud pp, you'd be sat there ages watching it. The Swan I think does more than we currently know. They took it apart to clean it over lockdown and when they put it back together again they realised it has 8 tunes rather than the one. It's only the neck that moves a wee bit, but when looking up it's bum you can see all the layers in the wings - I think there's more automation to be discovered... *nodding*
Back to work todayHimself was up and out really early to get to Epsom for another week. I packed his big jacket cos it's to be cold down there apparently. Not so bad here with the gentler breeze, and sunny and dry. 6'c currently with a high of 14'c to come, possibly. I'll take it.
Shout out to people who don't know what the opposite of in is.4 -
And she's back with our early morning shout out 😁
Did you tell them at work about your impending new status Bluey?
Brrrrrrr! This morning 😐 8c winter weather and cold to get dressed.
Back gate closed last night because of a strong north wind and my apricot tree in direct line.
So it's moving that into shelter of the back wall for max winter sun and where I'll trip over it each night.
Lovely to look out and see the garden looking like a garden. 😁 The viburnum leaves haven't recovered but the branches still show green when scratched.
Today may be a bit of removing dead stuff from the drought and overgrown bits and pieces and the getting rid of 3 buckets of prunings at the tip.
Not exciting but has to be done, getting ready for the coming season.
May even move the spring planters into position as the sun is shining to brighten the cold.
Hope everyone wakes up with all their bits working 💗

Hope not, I'm not too far south from Epsom, used to be part of my area way back in my fruit machine fixing days, natch there were a lot of pubs called Horse & Jockey or similar, probably long since closed.Sunny morning, with near promise of it lasting all weekDustyevsky said:wort said:
Farway it’s a worry what can be created by AI 🫣🐝 nothings sacred anymore.I don't believe or care about much of what the media shows me, but soon it'll be even harder to distinguish fake from real.I see we're going to get £billions more now, and we're supposed to be grateful, but I'd point to modern cars as a cautionary example. The price of older models is climbing, as people increasingly distrust buying into products which are unnecessarily complex, prone to glitches, and only fixable via the manufacturer's outlets, not their local garage.
Having said that, AI suggested the reason for a fault on our old banger this week, and was spot-on!True enough about modern cars, I was watching YT pundit who reckoned car reliability peaked about 2006 - 2010. After that the Eco stuff started, smaller engines, more wear, engine management instead of good old spark plugs, lower octane petrol etc etc so we finished up with one small error & the lot stops.Wait until we get our new digital ID, then your car won't start because you've exceeded your sugar intake for the week and need to walk it off.Like Dusty, another AI query & got it fixed.I used AI last week to find out what the "Turnstile Application" was that was stopping me doing online shop at As*a.It was my ad blocker! All very odd as it always worked before. Probably a trial run of digital ID, exceed my sugar limit, so preventing me from buying more jam.If the sun does keep out I hope to sort the pots at the front out, at least remove the French marigold stumps the snails have left me. Like 2P, not a big fan, but in my case because they are mollusc fodder.I'm going to try AI out to help decide on planting for the pots, Alliums or daffs, or both?Once I have pic I can get AI to bung them in, and I can judge the results before commiting.Just refreshed, reporting all bits working and another one getting ready for next season & spring planterstwopenny said:Not exciting but has to be done, getting ready for the coming season.
