Awful weather - typical Brits talk

Another dull & dreary morning, seems mixed results if rain is on the way or not, if I water the pots that should fix it one way or t'other.twopenny said:Looks like Erigeron. Just going out to look.YoungBlueEyes said:Enjoy (?) the Standing Giants Farway. That sort of thing brings a lump to my throat, especially with the sky looking like that.
Tom Putt sounds like my kind of apples Less. I'll keep my eye out but I don't spose I'll see any for sale...Went to the council offices 45 minutes before closing time to find the girls on their way out locking up. When asked why they were closing one of them said cos it's quiet in there so we're not needed. I might have made a comment about that. It was not well received and she made a snarky comment back. I then said something which makes me wonder if you can blacklisted by the council and exactly what reapercushions that might have...I expect I'll find out soon enough cos she asked me my name and I gave it to her.
If I get any decent Giant pics, which is not certain because of the walking that may be involved, I'll get AI to work blending the Tower poppies with themI looked up Tom P apple, sounds good, but pollination could be a problem, triploid self sterile. One for Rottery Acres?Near the lake shore, where it can reflect into the water at sunset.Hope you asked for her name as well, but that is something remembered after the eventWill you be on YT when the rozzers knock on your door?Reminds me of once asking for a type of loaf in a bakers & being told there's no call for themLovely walk there, Dusty, get them in while the weather holds.Unlikely to get into the garden today, dull etc, but may water the front and squirt the hose around the backNumerus non sum5 -
I didn't have a choice with the AI conversation, Farway, that was the only choice. I can see a fair few jobs disappearing in the future.
I know what you mean about the Last Post - lump in throat moment for sure.
Good to see you posting, taff, you sound as busy as always.
wort, I tried to ID your plant with an app and three times it said "not a plant"
There's a wee house just to the right of the mountain pic, YBE. I actually said to my DH on Sunday that I wanted to buy it.
Gorgeous photos, Dusty, the views are stunningBtw, two rear views
We have a yellow weather warning for rain today - heavy rain all day.'A watched potato will never chit'...6 -
Pic from last night - taken on the way home in the car at 60mph (DH driving). I really liked the clouds and I’m hoping Less can tell me what they are… 😁

Wonderful views again Poppy, you are lucky to have such things in your back yard 🙂
If the tune brings tears to your eyes try this. It's beautiful but a full on flood!

I seem to remember that the Dutch tend the graves of all nationalities as a mark of respect.
Dusty I thought I knew where that was until the last pic. I'd say beyond woolacombe a fair bit. Maybe heartland area?
Love walking that coastline.
Bluey you'd like other friends cottages too then. One had everything crimson or shocking pink. It looked better than it sounds. I couldn't live with it but loved visiting. Another starting life from scratch had everything left over from auctions which was always a surprise visit. Both artists of course.
I saw this cottage on Rightmove and it appealed but I'm too old to deal with a cottage these days. I di try to buy it back along

I'd like to say 'on brighter things ' but it's grey and gloomy here and definitely on the cool side. Improved to 10c this morning but too damp to get in the garden.
Catching up on all the things I've put off for months 😕
Farway have you seen the thread about the spider?
I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

I'm going for Cirrus uncinus radiatus...(yes, clouds have Genera, species and varieties, just like plants!)

Your link didn't work, twopenny. Probably just as well, I can do without more tears today.
Ooh, interesting, Less, thank you. I've done a quick google and it does look like them - also know as Mare's Tail, everyone's nightmare weed.'A watched potato will never chit'...6 -
Another photo from last night, which shows the clouds and also how fast we were going… 😂

Love walking that coastline...Beyond Hartland, even. I thought I'd given a clue with Strawberry Water, but this is what turns up in Search! So, here's another clue from part of the valley walk back to the beach.P.S. Nearly into that weird Cornwall place! We won't be up your way much now, 2p. The day length pushes us westwards, if I'm to get some shopping done, too.Great shot of err... Cirrus uncinus radiatus pp! (Thanks Less) Looks sharp at 60mph....Oh, second one...not so much!
PS The YouTube video in 2p's link has this AI summary:youtu.be/DRrTujHaHis
features a 13-year-old girl playing the trumpet solo in the song "Il Silenzio" alongside the Johann Strauss Orchestra led by André Rieu. The piece "Il Silenzio" is a well-known instrumental work with a distinctive trumpet theme and was originally composed in 1965 for the 20th anniversary of the Netherlands' liberation. "

I was amazed when I looked at the photos, Dusty. A lot of them are like photo 2, but I got a few sharp ones - all I can think is that I had the phone at an angle looking back for those ones rather than pointing straight ahead, or we weren't going as fast as I thought
It's absolutely hammering down here now and I've lit the fire and candles early. Poor DH is at a football match so will be getting a soaking. I'm going to shut the curtains and snuggle down for the night...'A watched potato will never chit'...6 -

We're expecting a few hours of rain shortly. I refuse to light the fire until October.Mind you, with all the Halloween tat in the shops, you'd think it was!
