Dull & cool this morning, such a change from yesterdaywort said:Farway how do you get AI to I’d the apples ? Was it an app ?It's linked with Google so I expect others are availableIt's blooming clever, and unlike normal search stuff you can type in a multi query, or post a picture etc. Which is what I did for the Apple ID, I included rule & coin for scale, but tried to describe when ripe poor keeper, etc. The more info the better IMOIt gave me two options, one of which was James Grieve, which I could eliminate because I know the taste of JG, and it was not that.I've also used it to decipher olde English manuscripts, the curly capitals & ff for S sort. Also mundane, like where is the cheapest petrol near me?There is a daily limit on questions, but it's not fixed, so no idea what they are, depends on traffic & ???The one for playing with pictures is Gemini 2.5Glad you've tried AI, PP. Easy and amazing, isn't it?And what great pics as wellOn pictures, lovely ones by your friend 2P.And the Tom P apples Less, love the look of those. Do you use them or just for looks?YoungBlueEyes said:You sickening for something with your not sleeping Farway? Mum pic was really good, it did look real. The scary clever bit was the shadows, they're tricky (or used to be, if I remember rightly from my long ago computer gaming days). Those apples look like good eatin'
I think if I started with AI it'd enthrall me entirely and I'd never go to work again for I'd be all day on it ha haa!
I should go check my apples really, I can see them from my kitchen window so I know they’re still on the tree but that’s all I know.So horticultural vinegar isn’t worth it then? I did mention it to ‘Lily’ the gardening one at work yesterday but she hadn’t heard of it either. She gave me a tip though - her friend has the loveliest garden and what she’s been doing is feeding the whole thing with Tomrite (sp?). Someone told her it degrades if you keep it too long so she bought new stuff and then watered her whole garden with the old stuff. Her begonias and petunias are particularly good on it, but her whole garden is lovely in generalOh and Asda have BFB she said.
I swear by Tomorite as well, in fact I have just bought next years from the river place [Prime, free delivery]. It was on offer and comes & goes on offerHope the apples are OK, some are best left to ripen on the tree, rats permitting, which is why I picked all mine rather than waitDon't start on AI pics, time flies. If you look at YT there are amazing examples there, so something for dull winter days.On garden news, I was also on buddleia duty yesterday, cut it right back in parts, needed my saw on some branches that were as thick as your armsMade a start on the monster pyracantha [sp?] as well, but left most until the birds have eaten the berriesIf sun ever comes back, I may get out & make the anti squirrel tops for my Spring bulb pots.PS, on pics I have an appointment coming up, Standing with GiantsFort Nelson had the Tower poppies a few years back

Fancy missing the event of the year! Congrachoolaysheuns there YBE, and many more anniveraries to come! How fab!
And fancy you missing the event of the office. Chances are though, you'll see another one soon for the next one they hire
Kind of busy at the moment, I'm good mostly, waiting on appointments for things, sister neded to-ing and fro-ing to the airport, friend needed driving his paintings around, allotment, garden and visiting friends etc, made it a bit busy. And going to Germany next week to visit a friend.2p, what lovely paintings, love the still life 18th century vibe, with a hint of Georgia O'Keefe. I bet they're much better in person too...beautiful. Shame the neighbours are making your life a pain too, no one needs that kind of thing. There are lots of free AI toys for you Farway, There are free video tools. OH has a friend all things internet who comes and shows us stuff sometimes, the frist time he was using AI was the year before last, he'd installed it on his phone and was talking to it, we thought he was talking to a friend, it had all the usual speech markers down pat including pauses, umss and ahhs...But case your eyes over this for a bit of scarey future confusion, and these are freeor more picsGreenbee, one of mine is called Fatty too, he was Thor, then JB after I stole him, then something else, now he's just Fatty. The other one went from Tigger to Little Princess and is now Squeaks.Dusty, good to see you flying the flag for normality, hope Mrs Dusty recovers as soon as, good news about the car, you're right re the newer v the older engines, but trouble is, the body work falls apart first. My old van was mostly weld by the time it went.Beautiful pics as always, I kind of rush caught up so have remembered only a few things [ wondeirng whether my mind is going, I can forget things two mintues after hearing them....Anyway, today is dull, overcast and perfect allotment weather, so if I get my harris in gear, that's where I'll be...

The Tom Putt are a "multipurpose" apple eat, cook, cider, though it's been many years since we tried any of those (and never the cider, tho' I probably added some when juice-making when kiddies - now very grown-up (well, in age at least
) were young - since then have been few apples, cracked and scabby, mostly abandoned to birds...
The odd one I've snacked on while in the garden this year has been crunchy and juicy, good flavour, will report back on cooking properties; we have another cooker which doesn't keep so those are being used first...7 -
Come on you clever lot, please ID my self seeders
Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.5 -

Definitely Erigeron - reminds me I've got some self-seedlings in a big houseplant pot which came in the other day in advance of threatened frost which I must dig out - don't think they'll like it inside...4

Morning all
Super quick post this morning, I've stuff to do and I've been called to Posh Friend's.
Arty friend's cosy cottage sounds good to me 2p. People who have to make sure all their plates match haven't got enough to be doing in their day imo.
Did you have a good day dabbling wort? Hopefully the weather stayed right for it. I don't know what your plants are, but I've had them in my front garden gravel strip under the fence before. I've given them long enough and then some to be either fragrant or pretty and they've done neither so I've pulled them up. #Shawshank
I like your cyclamen Dusty. I miss my ones so I'll look for more when I'm in out. Fingers crossed you get nice weather for your walk.
Love your pics pp, you could look at that mountain all day. In fact, shove them sheep out the way and I wouldn't mind a wee house built there
Enjoy (?) the Standing Giants Farway. That sort of thing brings a lump to my throat, especially with the sky looking like that.
Thank you kindly, and welcome back taffHow allotmenting going?
Tom Putt sounds like my kind of apples Less. I'll keep my eye out but I don't spose I'll see any for sale...
I didn't get any gardening done yesterday, must do it later today. I was obfuscated by authorities (bank and council) and it took nearly all soddin' day. Bank spend ages with me going through stuff before telling me I needed to make an appointment for name change stuff. *sigh* so that's next Friday. Went to the council offices 45 minutes before closing time to find the girls on their way out locking up. When asked why they were closing one of them said cos it's quiet in there so we're not needed. I might have made a comment about that. It was not well received and she made a snarky comment back. I then said something which makes me wonder if you can blacklisted by the council and exactly what reapercushions that might have...I expect I'll find out soon enough cos she asked me my name and I gave it to her.
OT cool and cloudy now, it was sunny earlier.9'c currently and a high of 15' to come. Possibly. If there's any rain left in that strip that's moving up and across the country well get some overnight, perhaps.
My husband told me to stop speaking in numbers, but I don't 1 2.6 -
Farway said:Dull & cool this morning, such a change from yesterdayIt wasn't blisteringly hot yesterday, but we still had blue skies and fluffy clouds. (We seem to be getting your yesterday today, with some added rain thrown in.)Yesterday seemed like the best chance for a walk I've looked at briefly before, and rejected on account of the worryingly steep start. On the map, you go up 100m in the first 200m or so!
Anyway, with light winds and brilliant visibility, we went for it.
This was the view after 10-15 minutes of much puffing and panting:Yes, the sun was in the 'wrong' place! The path also zig-zagged, so it wasn't quite as awful as anticipated.
Once up the initial climb, things were much easier, so we could have walked for miles without facing any more steep slopes. We only went to the top of the hill in the distance, before looping back through a side valley to return to the car. I still had a full supermarket shop to do!Lundy Island is about 30 km from where we were. It was much clearer than the usual splodge in the haze. The walk back through the valley, alongside the delightfully named Strawberry Water, was also pretty. There are some good pools for wild swimming, for those who can actually climb down to them!At some time, we might try the path just visible, snaking upwards on the left. It looks easier. Maybe next year.Just say, "No!"7 -
Having caught up, I agree with the ID of Erigeron karvinskianus, which self-seeds with gay abandon, and refuses to come up when seeds are planted in a pot!-taff said:2p, what lovely paintings, love the still life 18th century vibe, with a hint of Georgia O'Keefe.Dusty, good to see you flying the flag for normality, hope Mrs Dusty recovers as soon as....Good to see you. I'm so glad you mentioned Georgia O Keefe.
When I saw 2p's friend's art work, it reminded me of another artist, but I couldn't think who it was! Brain's going...
I'm not sure how I'm championing normality, but I'm certainly not against it. Dead straight, me!
However, following the last three walks, friend and I have concluded we're definitely weird, because we've met no one, despite there being maybe 8 -15 cars parked-up by ours. Where do all these folk go? Yesterday it was probably the beach, though I can only make out two people in the beach photo.
Anyway, only one rearview of my friend this time, so I hope that's OK!
Farway said:PS, on pics I have an appointment coming up, Standing with GiantsFort Nelson had the Tower poppies a few years backI remember the Tower poppies being amazing, but the silhouettes are equally impressive, and more 'direct.' If only those who have real influence would remember.....but we're back to the clash of old and new ways of perception.
Just say, "No!"7
