Good morning. Washing done, I will put it out soon, although will have to keep an eye out for rain as it is very overcast this morning.
Today I need to sort out paperwork & diary, would love to do something about the dining room which is currently a repository for all the furniture & building materials needed for the conservatory which we are in the process of rebuilding. Sadly the conservatory floor needs time for the cement to completely harden before we can start the tiling & I can lose the huge pile of boxes of tiles that take up a huge amount of dining room space. Also the fact that the dining room is a mess has meant that it has become a general dumping ground, presumably because another mess won't be noticed in it!
And it's black bin day - yet again the black bin is only half full (non-recyclables)
I have come to the conclusion that my motto must be something along the lines of "Why buy it if you're only going to throw it away?"

Have to tell you all that you have become an inspiration.

Had a barbecue last night and prepared all of the stuff for it myself (including marinade).

Then as it was my Mum's birthday I baked her an almond tart, which she was gobsmacked that I hadn't just picked up a cake from Asda - and everyone loved it as it tasted of something other than just sugar!

Not much planned for today. I've got washing up to do, tea to make, laundry to do (although the weather isn't looking too good) and lots and lots of planning for meals next month. I might incorporate reading my new recipe book that arrived this morning called "Plan and Cook" to go with my favourite cook book "Look and Cook" According to the price in the books they should have been £5 each second hand and I got them for £3.45 including postage :T

I guess I should also try and get some of my Excel worksheets and recipes onto my new-to-me Palm (talk about OS with a modern twist :rotfl:) as I'm planning on having the months menu, budget, recipes and food inventory on it so I can see everything when I go shopping ;)

Off to have a dance/Sing along to Ricky Martins Livin' la vida loca which is on the radio and then I'm off to the freebies/competitions board - I also feel the need to listen to our Ricky Martin CD :dance::dance::dance::rotfl:

:hello: Hello All. This is the first time I have added to this thread. I love it. I have been reading all week.

Really pleased with myself, last night made hm bread for the first time in the oven. Really pleased but when OH tried it this morning it was too hard. That is when we toasted it, it went very crispy and crunchy. What am I doing wrong? Any tips guys

Day off today so hopefully I'll be doing quite a bit of OS. Making a tea loaf later and then tackling usual house work bathroom, kitchen etc. Tea defrosted for later so just have to stick chicken on.

Bye for now off to start tea loaf. Hope this is better than the bread:rotfl:

Good morning all ......Over slept this morning...been sleeping really well since I tied some lavender bags to the bedstead....really deep restfull sleeps...it's just bliss.

Am working later, but only one little one today who normally sleeps for a couple of hours after lunch so plan to get a couple of banana cakes made up for the freezer, need to get some bread going too and some dough for pizzas tonight. Got a pile of ironing that's threatening to take over the bedroom too so guess I'll go put the kettle on and find a DVD to ease me through a couple of hours of boredom!!

Expecting a call from school too as a scathing email was sent last night, we were told last night that we need to provide a victorian and a tudor outfit for DD's by next week, no explanation of what exactly they require just make an outfit and take fabric so they can make hats tomorrow.......oh and while you're at it can you please send in another £10 each for an educational trip next week........I don't remember school costing so much money when I was there!!!

We worked out that if you did all the photos, the raffle tickets, the sponsered walks/silences/balloon, summer trips, educational trips, money for spending on trips and £5 each to take to the school fayre then this term alone would be costing us £104. Not that I ever buy the school photos as I prefer natural ones rahter than posed cheesy grins, all our family live away so can't get them to do the raffle tickets so this year I sent them back. DD1 was told "if you don't have time to make a costume then get your parents to go and hire you something for the day".....yeah right!!!!!!

Anyway - Rant over!!! ;) Hope you all have a good day

    Morning everyone,

How I would love to be able to post here regularly. Unfortunately work gets in the way usually.

Today, however I am really pleased. D9yo reminded me last night that he is off on a school trip today and needs a 'healthy' packed lunch, so I was up early making tuna sandwiches and chopping carrots and cucumber up into sticks for him to munch. He also took apple juice, three small plums and a satsuma. They are allowed one 'treat' so I made some flapjack last night and put a piece in for him.

Have been doing really well at home as well recently. I can't remember the last time I used my tumble drier or when I last did any washing that wasn't on my cheap overnight electricity. I have also been challenging myself not to spend any money when I am at work, so I have been making salads and sandwiches for lunch. I like to take a walk to get some fresh air at lunchtime, but I have been going to the library or on errands to the bank, etc instead of entering the shops to be tempted.

Tonight I will finish off making a skirt I cut out on Monday night. A very simple bias cut style with an elasticated waist. Fabric and thread etc cost me £8.20 but they have similar ones in M&S at £32!

If I get the chance tonight I will make some cinnamon & raisin bread in my breadmaker. I haven't used it in a while as I found my loaves were really heavy and weren't rising much but I'll have another go tonight.

Have a good day everyone! ;)

Well I had it all planned out today, 2 loads of washing, trying out my new breadmaker, clearing out the kids rooms, cooking a meat dish in the slow cooker...

Anyway, after spending 2 1/2 hours in the M1 traffic jam in the boiling weather yesterday i woke up today late & lethargic. it's raining so there'll be no washing today, breadmaker not arrived yet (where is my new breadmaker?), no energy to clean and forgot to take the meat out the freezer last night so it's be a non-meat dish for tea. Not going to be a wholly productive or OS day today...
