    Hi Everyone,

Glad its the end of the week at work for me. Back to my full time job of SAHM for the next four days! Have been trying to start toilet training my DS (22 months old). Managed to get him to sit on the toilet tonight on his special seat, after he had a bath. He started to have a wee, but it made him jump, and he did a wee all over me instead!;) Have sent off for the free potty training dvd, hopefully might have some useful tips.
Lokking forward to tomorrow, as I'm going out for a meal with OH. In true manyey saving fashion, its not costing us a penny, as my mum won a competition on the radio for a meal for two. Thanks Mum:A .
Hope everyone has had a good day.

    hi all,

not a particularly os or productive day today....

....i woke up aching all over from lugging the old cooker outside so it could be collected, and also from all that sawing to make the shelves for my larder. so have felt totally lathargic all day.

have still kept with my "saving petrol" and have walked to and from school this week...and i now have eleven baby lettuce seedlings growing!!! hooray!!!

made a marmalade cake in my breadmaker this afternoon....it is yummy!!!

this evening i am going to treat myself with a lovely HOT bubble bath with radox.....(BOGOF in boots with points....ta da....£0.00) and candles.....i like my little luxuries but even better when theyve cost me nowt!!

...really looking forward to the July challenges..im raring to go...

had garden maintence blokey round yesterday to quote me on fencing to split my garden in two with a gate...waiting to hear....thats what i will be using july's pms towards....as i have decided that if i am going to have a greenhouse that it will need protecting from pests (my kids with footballs!!! lol) so fencing first and greenhouse afterwards!!!!! :D

Lucie ... I added extra icing sugar and spread the topping on the buns. Everyone says there were great :D Took a batch to work where they rapidly disappeared. Given that most people don't realise I cook from scratch now it was a bit of a surprise for them ;)

Thanks Lucie .... lovely recipe :D

Marvelous! Pleased to be of service! It is the easiet cake mix ever. I got the recipe off my Mum yesterday who seems to think it was a Blue Peter recipe from the 80's?? I made her hunt through the scraps tucked in the back of her WI recipe book. Most of them haven't seen the light of day for about 20 years. I'm trying to persuade her to compile all those tatty envelopes & magazine clippings into a recipe book for posterity.

    Good Morning Old Stylers :hello:

Waiting for the bread machine to beep-beep as the scent of Rosemary Bread fills the house

This morning, I need to get weeding in the garden, they're springing up everywhere!

Visited D11yo's new school yesterday and bought his games kit ready for September. Cost a pretty penny and we can only purchase it from the school PE Dept but it did give us an opportunity to look at the rest of the uniform and get the suppliers price lists (2 suppliers were there - both lists included "coupons" :j BUT, I need to sit down with pen and paper and do price comparisons before I get enticed by the coupons!

I have some mending to do this afternoon (buttons, hem repairs, that sort of thing), so I'll be sitting in my garden with my sewing box ;)

I need to get some baking done as D9yo is off on a school trip tomorrow and he wrote his packed lunch "wish list" a few weeks ago and he requested HM cakes LOL

The slow cooker pan is full of beef stock which needs skimming and freezing.

    Enjoy your day

    'Morning Queenie :hello:

So far I've pottered around ebay ... looking for some work clothes. Would be cheaper if I lost some weight as I have a wardrobe full of clothes one size smaller

So I think it's salad for lunch, dinner, breakfast tomorrow etc. ..... :rotfl:

Late night last night as we were starting a home wine kit ... it was more like a chemistry experiment! Test this, test that ... Hope it does what it says on the box and produces wine in 3 weeks.

Work as usual today but I'll be back tonight to see what everyone else has been up to today. :D

    Morning

Well, I'm not usually online at this time - bit of a strange one for me :D

Still trying to get my head together - which doesn't help as boys are being tornadoes this morning,:wall: I really will have to switch this PC off early tonight and go to bed.

OK - today is DS2's mum and toddler swimming lesson, which means I'll also have to pay for the crash courses I've booked for both of them this summer. DS2 can swim, DS1 just thinks he can, which isn't altogether safe as we're going somewhere with a private pool. SO, they are both going together for 2 on 1 lessons. It's worth it IMO.

I need a few bits - milk etc so will pop into town and may give Boots the once over - you never know, I may still find some of those specials from the shopping board still there :D Need to return books to the library too and put cheque into the bank (wayhaaaayy) . Other than that, will be putting slow cooker on and want to give en suite, kitchen and stdy good going over. Washer is just about ready to go on but weather's looking decidedly dodgy so may not get it on the line.

Off to munch my brekkie now - porridge with stewed plums and tea.

  • Mad panic of cleaning going on here today. Finally finished all my sewing (just in time for next door to pop round with some trousers that need fixing) so I can claim my sitting room back. Will probably spend the best part of an hour cleaning the fire out and sitting with my hand up the chimney. I'm hoping to get some baking done this afternoon as I've been trying to get a few bags of cakes in the freezer. All this wanted doing before the children broke up for the summer but they finish tomorrow so it's last minute panic as usual.
Washing is already on and the load I had to boil (after DS1 fell in the burn wearing them) is hung on the line, the water in the burn has the run off from the cattle fields in in and I'm not risking him getting cryptosporidium if he decides to chew on his collars again.

HM poppy bread and cheese sandwiches for lunch and stovies for tea (must find a recipe for oatcakes) and someone gave me a craving for rice pudding so I'll pop one in with my cakes.

    Got paid.

    Paid bills

On a more positive note today is the start of our supermarket challenge. An entire month of trying to stay away from Tesco/Asda. Tesco ,by the way, now accounts for 31% of all our spending.

First stop today is a cooperative organic grocery in Manchester called Unicorn. Tis a very good place and not expensive. That should cover all fruit and veg.

Also need to buy stuff for cake making tomorrow, thats my next lesson from OH after last weeks succesful attempt at baking. Chocolate cake I thought..........
