I think I may have caused a small power slump this morning as I turned on Dishy, Washy, Bready, Toastie, Kettle, Radio, and Iron all at the same time. If your power went off at 7am I'm sorry;) but needs must when there's economy 7 involved.
I don't know about you other Ol'Stylers but life is getting really manic. I think it's cos we're coming to the end of term. Sports days, summer fairs, concert rehearsals and performances. Kidz soloing at various events. Add to that gymastics and swimming doodas. A number of weddings to attend/produce stationary for. A couple of geriatric birthdays and a few nights out planned. It will be a relief to go away for the summer. Is anyone else getting in a tizz or is it just me? I think I will just sit quietly for a bit and watch some bread rise.Life's a beach! Take your shoes off and feel the sand between your toes.0 -
AHA!!! *points finger at MATH* so you are to blame, eh!
Sounds to me like you are in need of a lavender bath and lavender sleep pillow to rest your weary head MATH~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Not very os but just spent last 2 days shopping for forthcoming holiday . Don't feel too bad as I normally shop at the charity shops for work clothes and for around the house. Lots of bargains to be had at matalan including 2 strappy tops for £3, got a white vest type t shirt for son for £2 and 2 bikinis for daughter 2 for £8 and a cute little skirt type wrap for her for £2. I managed to get a lovely blue sun dress for myself for £5 as well. Oh got 2 really nice quality Lee T shirts for £10 so he wasn't left out.
Went to Aldi this morning and picked up a beach shelter for £4.99, quite cheap I think. We don't have a baby but a couple of us do burn if we're not careful so somewhere to shelter and maybe keep the picnic cool.
Oh well back to the ironing pile :rolleyes:Our days are happier when we give people a bit of our heart rather than a piece of our mind.

catznine - what bargains. I will to go and have a look.........
Not really much OS happening today. The house looks like it sparkles *I finally did all the dishes last night*
I am out tonight, so I can't mess it back up :rotfl:
Just bought a new sofa bed  But it was in the sale, I have been looking for one for 9 months and have the money in my hand to pay for it *oh the justification!* so not too bad really.
Right.....back to work.....have my performance review at 3pm. I wonder if too much time spent on internet will come up...........r.mac, you are so wise and wonderful, that post was lovely and so insightful!0 -
Just going to check the stuff on ebay and then I am off to help prepare for the school summer fair. I was really pleased to see ds's face as he took the cake and buns in this morning that we made yesterday.
Queenie - Is the recipe for the microwave slice things on here anywhere? I am wanting to learn how to make flapjack and cereal bars too. Not making any this weekend though as we are off camping at Elvaston steam rally which including a weekend of camping and entrance over 2 days to the event is only £22 in advance or £30 on arrival for the whole family. The best bargains are priceless!!!!!!!!!! :T :T :T0 -
Anyone out there enjoying their summer salads? I love salad and was pleased to read in the newspaper today that lettuce is an ancient Viagra used by egyptians to boost sexual performance!!! :rotfl:
apparently there is some kind of chemical inside which acts as a stimulant... perhaps though I should stop feeding my OH lettuce (would get more sleep)
Oh and it has just been proven by some botanist dude, but it doesn't say how much you need to eat for the effect... it says 2-3 grammes of the chemical... how much lettuce leafage does that translate to I wonder.....oooh look only about 220 posts and I got round to doing my Avatar already!!0 -
I had a wonderfully productive day in the kitchen yesterday. For 7 hours work (probably could have done it quicker and more economically if I had actually planned things instead of spur of the moment decisions
) I managed to cook/prepare :
- 2 portions of bolognese (each serves 3)
- 2 portions of midweek mushroom mince
- 1 portion of cooked mince with onion
- 1 portion of cooked onions
- 9 chicken drumsticks cooked in stock
- 1 bag of used chicken stock (will be reused next time)
- 4 chicken breasts in BBQ sauce ( 2 for tea last night, another 2 in the freezer)
- 1 rich current cake (it burntbut I cut the top burnt bit off
)
- 2 cheese & mash pies ( single servings as there wasn't much mash)
- 1 large pizza (cheese and tomato) using a scone base
- 1 pan of lamb casserole (still on the hob, needs skimming and portioning/freezing)
- 48 chocolate fairycakes (already down by 3)
- 3 small tubs of grated cheese (1kg block grated on the smallest possible size)
- two trays of potato wedges which we had with BBQ chicken for tea.
While I was at it I also got the last bag of plain scones out and the Soreen I bought the other day. To say I was worn out last night would be an understatement. :rotfl:
This morning I treated myself to a hair cut - spur of the moment treat. This afternoon I'm taking DD to get her's cut as I'm not trying again. I'd rather spend the money and get hers done at the hairdressers than try it myself and have to take her anyway, especially as she has a cold and bumped her head this morning (she fell over in the playground for about the 4th time this week but managed to bang her head this time and take the scab off the big graze she already had:eek:)
Nothing planned this afternoon except DD's haircut, washing (if the rain stays off) and trying to sort out the desk which looks a real mess with papers everywhere  Right, off for a coffeeCreeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!0
