Morning all,
Working this afternoon so will make the most of this morning and get dinner ready for tonight. Shepherds pie planned, went to the cupboard to get some onions out last night and found all my potatos about to sprout.....sure they're not that old, before hand I would have just chucked them in the bin and got some more -- but no, there I was with a huge bag of them at the kitchen table, peeling and chopping and shoving them in my huge stock pot, boiled and mashed them all up and froze them all down in portion sizes.....Which will come in handy as I'm working full time next week (first week of full time in 9 years!!!!!) I shall be a frazzled wreck at the end of it i'm sure.
Expecting my new slow cooker to arrive today as well so might even go start defrosting some stuff so I can give it a go.

Morning!!
How is everyone today? Only glad for the rain as it will be watering the Lavender I uprooted and potted at the weekend! (To save it from the garden, which I hope to demolish and make nice!)
Otherwise, checked my latest planting and the little seeds seem to be enjoying the weather and have already started to produce their baby leaves! Very pleased. Potted up all my herbs and they seem to be enjoying their new space!
Good old pasta and red sauce tonight, celebrating OH's Nanny (Italian Nonna really) passing away and her funeral, OH says that my red sauce is as good as hers so will be treating hime to a bucket load of tonight! He is off to get a fresh french stick from the (italian)baker to have with dinner.... provided that is that he doesn't eat it all for lunch!
Better get back to looking busy... would much rather be at home, I think everything will need cleaning this weekend! :eek:oooh look only about 220 posts and I got round to doing my Avatar already!!0 -
eyeopener wrote:Also need to buy stuff for cake making tomorrow, thats my next lesson from OH after last weeks succesful attempt at baking. Chocolate cake I thought..........
Have a look at the eureka cake recipe on the recipe thread. Dead easy chocolate cake - mix together dry ingredients, mix together wet ingredients. Combine all together, bung in oven. Voila!0 -
I'm sitting here in shock after last night. My 11 year old Aspie son plastered my utility room last night. His dad gave him one 15 minute lesson and in that time he picked up what apparently takes most people 3 months to learn. He's finished the first coat and is doing the second coat after school tonight.
I'm so proud of him, guess I don't have to worry about him finding employment when he leaves school in 5 years timeOrganised people are just too lazy to look for things

Good morning!
Still debating whether to hang the washing out yet - the sky is really grey & a little while ago it sounded like thunder.
At least I got some cleaning done, but I am supposed to be cleaning all the cement dust from the conservatory floor & sealing the floor with something, ready for the tiles to go on. And then it will pretty much be done! I am really looking forward to that part!
It's nice to hear about everyone's seedlings growing nicely, I am hopeful that our next batch of lettuce seeds survived the storm last night.
I am going to have to leave the computer to its own devices & go do something about that floor...............0 -
Oh moggins, can I borrow your son please? I'm about to start painting the front hall and have been trying to do a bit of plastering but I have to admit I'm pretty cr*p at it. Hope the house move is going well.
So, today I shall do some painting, a bit of tidying and not much else. Cold pork for tea tonight after taking my dog to the vet. We had a storm again on Tuesday night and the dog went mad, I spent all night squirting Rescue Remedy at him and trying to stop him digging.
I really should pull some weeds out but the weather looks a bit iffy so painting it is.
Have a good day all.0 -
apple_mint - hope the hm wine turns out well, 3 weeks isn't long to wait
Have a good day at work.
Tm - swimming lessons are a lifeskill investment - very well worth it (I share your opinion)
bethscott1970 - your sewing productivity is amazing!! :T :T - your children break up early, ours still have another 3 full weeks to go.
eyeopener - Good luck with your supermarket challenge, I'm really looking forward to reading about it as the month passes. Oh and good luck with the Chocolate Cake too!
Pooky - hope your slow cooker arrives today and you have fun using it. Good luck next week too, hope you don't get too frazzled.
Kippsy - ((condolences)) on NonnaIt's a lovely idea having a meal in her honour.
moggins - your son is AMAZING!!! No wonder you are so proud of him, that's no mean feat!
Chipps - it's overcast here now tooIf you have some wind, try sticking your washing outside, even if you only manage 1/2 hr before the rain comes, then air it off indoors. Good luck with your floor.
Well, I've managed just under an hour of weeding/tidying in the garden so now that's it's overcast, I shall have to do my mending indoors instead. Not a problem, I'm going to put my "Relaxing" CD on (it was a freebie with a magazine a few years ago and it's fantastic) while I mend as soon as dh has gone to work.
I've made some jam crumble slices in the microwave so D9yo will have some of those in his pack up tomorrow - really quick and easy
I still need to freeze the beef stock but I want to slice the joint first to freeze in portion sized amounts too.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Not much to do here today except last minute holiday bits - we're off to France tomorrow, to see the first few stages of the Tour de France, then stay with friends for a couple of days.
Dinner tonight will be beef & veg tortilla wraps, using up most of what's left in the fridge.
Will probably spend the rest of the day putting some bits on Ebay, timed to end when we get back, so hopefully we will come home to a little bit of cash0 -
:j Have FUN in France!!
Bon Voyage  and enjoy the Tour de France :T~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
