Good afternoon all, I've had a very busy OS morning, washing, cleaned cooker hood and tiles, given bathroom a good scrub, spent ages dismembering a chicken which I cooked overnight for the dog. Yes I know he's a spoilt brat but he won't eat the expensive dry stuff on it's own so he has a small amount of chicken or sardines with it. I now have loads of little packets of dog chicken in the freezer. I've just chucked together a chilli in the slow cooker. We have a recently divorced male friend coming tonight, he lives on ready meals so I promised to cook for him but as I don't know what time he will arrive I thought a chilli would do.
The best bit of my day has been cutting a huge bunch of sweetpeas from the garden. I have a large wooden crate which I usually fill with grow bag stuff and grow runner beans in but we got a bit sick of them last year so I grew flowers instead, not very money saving but they are beautiful and they smell divine.
Well done to MATH and enjoy your day in the sun. Lillibet it definitely sounds as if the nesting instinct is starting, you take care of yourself.
I feel really sad about Richard Whiteley although I didn't watch him much on TV he was a great Yorkshire man.

A completely OS day today.....(makes up for the lack of anything over the weekend....well it was my birthday, so i'm allowed) Got some great cookery books yesterday in Bookends.....they were 2 for a fiver, I got "desserts", "soups and starters", "classics" and "stews and one pots" - already found lots of tasty things we'll be having over the next few weeks, my 9 year old even got her meal plan in for next weekend when she wants to make Irish Stew.

Had a quick shower after everyone had left this morning using freebies and sample sized products - all free.

Made a wholemeal loaf, 1 large chicken pie, 1 large spinach and spicy cheese quiche, 12 small ham quiches, 12 cheesy pastry balls, boiled up 2 chicken carcasses for stock, collected all the left over meat from the bones once it was finished (enough for another 2 pies and 2 meals for the cats) and made a huge pan of bolognaise mix, 1 lot for tea and the rest for a stomboli later in the week.

Also had a meeting this morning but luckily it was at home so could keep an eye on everything cooking.

3 loads of washing out and blowing nicely -- (lovely breeze here today) and just about to wash the floor with my new mop (purchased in ASDA yesterday along with the main shop but cunningly paid for by coupons my Mum saved for me).

Off to collect the kids later then a quick mow of the grass before out for a bike ride along the cliffs..........total money spent today.....a BIG FAT 0!!!!!

How virtuous am I feeling today!!! :rotfl:

I've had a really good day :j I went shopping this morning and treated myself to a puzzle book to try and get the grey matter cooking on gas again ;)

I bought a showercurtain (£1.99) that matches our bedroom. Why should it match the bedroom? Because I'm going to use it across the front of an alcove to hide the two hanging rails I'm going to make. Speaking of which I bought a piece of wood this morning 95" (2.4m) x 2.5" (6.5cm) x 1.75" (4.5cm) to make the brackets for the wall, as it was old stock it only cost me 50p :D So let me price this "wardrobe" with two hanging rails that I'm making : 50p + £1.99p + (2 x 69p) = £3.87 :money: I already have rawplugs, a saw (borrowed from my dad ages ago), screws, drill etc already in so no cost there :D:D:D:D

While I was out I popped into Somerfields while I waited for a charity shop to open. I ended up buying 6 pack of kitchen towel (99p instead of £1.99), honeycoated cornflakes (72p instead of £1.42), Sun maid bag of 18 miniboxes of raisins (87p instead of £1.75), Kraft Light Balsamic dressing (92p instead of £1.23) and a twin pack of Soreen for 99p! I'm not counting them as savings as I wouldn't usually buy most of that (except the kitchen towel) but even so it would add up to a saving of £2.89 ;)

Finally I managed to get into the charity shop and I spotted a real bargin! a 15 tog double (may even be kingsize - still have to check it ) quilt for £2!!!!! So I bought it :D Just priced them on ebay and they are selling on there from £5 starting bid or on Buyitnows £20 :D It does need to be washed so that will be a trip to the laundrette to use the supersize machine at about £3.50 but I think it will be worth it ;)

After picking up DD I went to the local flooring shop and got a roll end of cushion floor for £25 (7"6 x 3m) in a pattern that OH said he wanted. I'm going to attempt to clear the kitchen out this afternoon ready to lay the flooring

Off now to put a load of washing out, do some dishes and then start clearing the kitchen while DD watches cbeebies and then goes for a rest

OH took me for lunch today! When I say "took" I mean he collected me from the petshop where I was, yes talking to the budgies, and we walked all of 80 yards to the local ornamental park in the centre of Urmston village. He had brought sandwiches and I provided the drink - however I did buy him some chocolate to celebrate GETTING SOME MORE ORDERS FOR HIS BUSINESS :j He has trebled the amount of business in one week :T (yes, that's how bad it was!!!)
But I'm going to say this once, and once only, Gene. Stay out of Camberwick Green :D

glad to hear that it is going so well. And a holiday home to boot!

Based on yoru experiences, If you could give us all one tip, and one tip only, what would it be?????
We've always been on the ball with getting the best mortgage/insurance/utility suppliers etc so when I started viewing MSE most of the big stuff was not an option cos we were already doning it. So my one tip would be "No saving is to small to be overlooked" I remember swinging out of Tesco all aglow cos I had clawed £2 off my shopping budget for that week. It's amazing how it all adds up if you put it to good use.
