Today I am spoiling my husband! It is father's Day after all....
so when he get's in from his night shift in approx. 30 minutes he will get a big kiss, a card thrust into his hands and a neatly wrapped pressie ( a paperback bought in Tesco last night) wrapped in 'Bailey's Wrapping Paper' which was a Freebie I found through this site :T It has been waiting in the cupboard for such an occasion. Good quality paper too!
Then I am making him a full fry-up...well...most of it grilled, but he does love his bacon, eggs, sausage, toast etc...
Hope he has a nice day!0 -
bit of ironing, weeding and making bread and have mended DS2 school trousers!!!November NSD's - 70

Well, I've STILL got my headache ( 5 days and counting). I hope we have a big thunderstorm over my way tonight as I think it's all to do with that.
ALL the washing was done yesterday so that's nothing on that score to do. Made some HM lemonade from this site yesterday for the BBQ (mostly HM stuff too) and it went down a storm - none left! We are going to have a go at the garden today but will wait until it starts to cool down mid-pm (mad dogs and englishmen etc...). Have a lot of letters to write though so may make a start on those. Also see if there's anything needs replenishing in the larder. I don't want to shock anyone but I may have a job free day!!!! stewth....
But I'm going to say this once, and once only, Gene. Stay out of Camberwick Green0 -
Morning - have done nothing this morning (it started at 4.10 when I woke up, and couldn't get back to sleep, but I'm totally knackered) Have drunk lots of tea and eaten ginger nuts - can't face proper food yet. Have fed and watered the family and wrapped father's days pressies for DH to rip open. He's dead impressed - got him some unusual Irish Whiskey from Aldi's, that he likes and also several bottles of FCUK smellies, free with my £3 Boots vouchers.
Have to visit my dad later - will have to go via garden centre to pick up suitable gift. He doesn't want or need anything, but if I go empty handed - he'll get all sulky
Have to put yet more washing on now, then tonight it's the dreaded ironing pile. Ah well, if nothing on telly, I have a video my friend lent me.0 -
Hi Again
Forgot to mention that I did pretty well last night with freebies
We went to a leaving party (me drugged up with morphine..lol)last night, friends weve known for years! About 10.30 people started leaving so went out in kitchen and got a soft drink. One of my friends said-help yourself to whatever as it will be binned
Came away with a 3ltr (Robertsons) full unopened apple & blackcurrant squash, 2ltr bottle of M&S fizzy orange, bottle of sangria  and a huge jar of nescafe which was unopened! Just tallied this up and is roughly £13.00  Also bought home about 50 small sausage rolls (will do in lunch boxes this week and may freeze some) and a huge slice of cake
I would never of done that 6 months ago
Penny-Pincher!!
XXXTo repeat what others have said, requires education, to challenge it,requires brains!FEB GC/DIESEL £200/4 WEEKS0 -
Rage - hope you get some relief from that head! 5 days is a long time to endure
WTG P-P £13 worth of freebies is wonderful
TM - oooh err - no wonder you're knackeredHope you sleep better tonight.
Eliza - let us know later all the bargains/goodies you get from the market, sounds like it will be a veggie fruitful day all round for you
HD - awww, hope your dh enjoyed his grill up(You really are spoiling him cooking on a day like today LOL )
Well, I'm experimenting with a new loaf today ... Cheese & Mustard ... finger's X - should be ready in another hour or so
I've spoken with the menfolk and they are all having a super duper time, which is great newsThey should be home tomorrow teatime but that's left me with a slight dilema: BBQ or Cold Buffet
I'm erring on Beer Can Chicken for the BBQ and hm trifle (with all the accompaniments of course)
I've wiped over all the glass in the picture frames with hm vinegar cleaner and I'm amazed at how grubby they were (I think "embarassed" would be a more appropriate word LOL then refreshed all the pot pourri dishes/lavender bags so the house is smelling rather summery and fresh. (I've gone round and hung some hm lavender bags on the door handles so it whiffs as you open and close the doors)
Lunch today is a cottage cheese salad.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Woken up at 8am by DD singing "Angels". Gave OH his Fathers Day pressie (homemade photoframe with 3 photographs and a little sign saying "Best Daddy" for him to take to work) and homemade card wrapped in plain gold wrapping paper from Oxfam
Then I made a cooked breakfast (grilled bacon, grilled sausage, beans, chopped tomatoes, fried egg, homemade-bread-toast with coffee, he's got the TV all day until the Steven Seagal film is on tonight which we both want to watch anyway
We're just having cheesy crumpets for lunch (reduced in Co-op the other week and I put them in the freezer for today) and will be having a roast dinner for tea. OH asked for a roast for Fathers Day so I'm quite happy to make it, so I'm going to make a gooey chocolate cake for desert as a treat. This is of course all depending on whether I can stay standing without fainting in our small and hot kitchen :rotfl:
Also washed DD's quilt. She still has the occasional "accident" in the night and a few weeks back she managed to get the quilt but I couldn't wash it (bad weather so couldn't dry it on the washing line and I didn't have the money to go the laundrette as it costs about £3+ to dry a single quilt!) so I had to just let it dry and wash it today. I've also stripped the beds and I have a basket of stubbon stained clothes to work on. Looks like a laundry/TV/Computer/cooking day for me :rolleyes:Creeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!0 -
Having a reasonably good day so far, except for the weather  (I think I must be Norweigan in origin or something - I prefer the cold by far!!)
Boyf has decided he is actually going to look for a job now (he's just finished a degree - He seemed as if he was gonna sit on his a$$ forever and let his parents pay  ) and is going to start looking for a new pad for us (student accommodation contract up in July - so just the two of us and kitty next year - yey!)
His mum has just sent us some shopping from M&S home delivery too, and got Domino's to deliver a big pizza, garlic bread, fanta, and a chocolate pud for me, I think he must have whinged this morning that there was no food in yet - so its been done for us - Very cool! (saves me having to go shopping anyway - I can go do laundry instead!)
Ive decided Im definatly not going back to work in the place I started last week, and have already applied for 6 jobs, and printed up some CV's to go trawling agencies with tomorrow.
Have planned a budget(feeling pleased with self)
The awful student boys havent dissapeared home yet, although they are all packing in a frenzy, so im guessing they are going today, and everything is clean, except the bathroom and kitchen floors, as i went on a mad frenzy of cleaning last night after watching a great movie on Beeb1 - Space Cowboys or something or other....
The kitty is yelling a lot, as if she is in pain, but ive just figured out what is wrong - she keeps seeing flies come in through the open windows and is chasing them like something gone crazy - and is therefore now panting on the floor!
Ive decided to plant a garlic bulb today to see what happens - any hints or advice?? Do I peel its 'skin' off? How much watering does the bulb need? Should I plant in a small container (about 5ins width) or the big one (about 15inches width)?? Questions, questions, I dont know.
Ohhh - Another one - How can I get rid of mosquitos? A few keep coming in the windows, which I cant close because we would literally pass out, and ive been squashing them, but they keep appearing! Would a squirt of vinegar work?? i have a nice squirty bottle at the ready, just tell me what to fill it with and im good to go!
Hope everyone else has a lovely day, and I envy all of those who can actually stand this god awful heat!
