:hello: Good Morning :hello:
Heard some of you have had thunder storms, hope the air is fresher for you(we haven't had one). Rage - hope that means that you're head has now cleared.
I'm sat here munching on some toast made with the Cheese n Mustard bread I experimented with yesterday - it is D-LISH!!! I reckon it would make a rather scrummy Ham n Onion savoury version of bread and butter pudding too - but that part of the experiment can wait until cooler weather LOL.
With the menfolk returning later this afternoon, I'm just going to have a 10 minute whip round (it's normally 20 mins daily - so 10 in a couple of days just goes to *prove* how messy they are). I've decided not to BBQ but to have a cold buffet ready, that way if the roads cause any delays I won't be fretting over hot coals
I do plan to have the bread machine ready to finish it's cycle with a sultana and cinnamon loaf, but that's because I think it will be a very welcoming smell to come home to (see, I'm planning their memories for them in advance LOL ) and it won't heat up the kitchen.
Hope everyone has a good day~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

'Morning Queenie ... sounds as though your men folk are going to have a lovely welcome home
The mustard and cheese bread sounds nice ... what did you put in (dried mustard?) and in what proportions?
Just about to set off for work ... could have done with another week off.
Got 5kg of tomatoes and a huge box of mushrooms, so was busy all day yesterday making tomato ketchup, tomatoe sauce (base for bolognese), dried tomatoes, dried mushrooms and slicing up mushrooms for the freezer. Kitchen was like a sauna ... but I couldn't let my bargains go to waste!Enjoying an MSE OS life0 -
Aw! Thanks everyone
We are still taking it in. 3 years of study over now and a good result but I think she is also feeling a bit lost as it is also a time for saying goodbye to some very good friends. Still got the graduation to look forward to tho.

We had a huge thunderstorm here yesterday. DD isn't usually scared of them but yesterday it was so loud and going on for so long (and we couldn't see the lightening properly as it was just a case of the sky lighting up) I asked OH to stop watching the Incredible Hulk so that she could come down from her room where she was playing and play a game with us. So yesterday afternoon we sat and played 2 games of Uno Rummy (with a few of our own rules thrown in :rotfl:) and then I made dinner. I did quite well as well considering I only have the one shelf in my oven I managed to fit in a huge gooey chocolate cake for pudding (school dinner style), a big yorkshire pudding and roast potatoes
After bathing/bedding DD I recycled a debenhams carrier bag, some electrical tape and a milk crate into a strawberry pot. Haven't planted anything in it yet but I will be doing soon.
Didn't do the ironing though. OH ironed what he needed and a top for me this morning. Nothing else was urgent. I will get around to it
This morning I have put washing out that I couldn't dry yesterday due to the rain and I'm in the middle of getting DD ready to go to school. GTGCreeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!0 -
Morning! :hello: Well we are just coming back down to earth after yesterdays news! DD has to go and hand her keys in and say goodbye to her uni friends so mixed feelings all round. The takeaway was lovely and there is still some leftover in the fridge so lunch is sorted! Have sorted out some shirts to cut up for quilting while I am waiting in for the guys to come and fit a new door and window in the utility room and cloakroom so hopefully (fingers crossed they turn up) I will be on tea and coffee duty today. uh oh I just heard thunder so don't think I will be putting the washing out! Might have a prob with the window and door going in. I guess it is our turn for the rain, hope no one has been too badly affected by the floods. Our days are happier when we give people a bit of our heart rather than a piece of our mind.

catznine: Well done to DD :j - has she given any thought to what she wants to do next?
Queenie: that bread sounds fab - point me in the right direction for the details please ............... my headache has cleared now - I could feel it going as the air got cooler yesterday.I don't mind heat (hey, I've been to egypt) but I can't stand humidity. I am a delicate blossom :rotfl:
got up and made my lunch today (cucumber sandwiches, HM fruit cake, museli bar, straws and HM lemonade). Have passed on the HM lemonade info to my co-worker as she tasted it and liked it - and it's cheap! Will be ringing OH up at home to remind him to put washing on as well. feel very organised and detemined not to spend any money - well, when I go into the pet shop at lunch to talk to the budgies I may buy some honey treats for derek "ze green flash".....
One of my Docs is on holiday today so she's left a load of stuff in my in-tray - ah well, on goes radio 4......But I'm going to say this once, and once only, Gene. Stay out of Camberwick Green0 -
Thanks Rage yes she wants to teach but has missed the boat for Septembers intake (unless lucky in clearing) so is applying for work until then. Glad your headache is gone I get like that in humid weather and it's grotty. Am attempting the ironing before it gets too hot (mind you I have a large fan on as well pointing in my direction:D)Our days are happier when we give people a bit of our heart rather than a piece of our mind.

catznine: ooooh, teaching - I think she's very brave - I couldn't (i have little patience although mask it very well and everyone thinks I'm sooo patient :rotfl: )...... They tried to railroad me into that when I graduated - I went off and did an MA instead - and here I am doing the same sort of job I did before I went to Uni!!! Never mind, it looks good on the letterhead!!!But I'm going to say this once, and once only, Gene. Well Ive had an awful morning so far, Ive just found out that I failed one of my final year Units, which means I cant graduate until October. To be honest, Its my own fault, as ALL of my units were exam based this year, and I revised less for that particular one through time constraints, and, it was my last exam, so I was thoroughly exhausted by that point.
Anyway, ive already had a bit of a cry this morning, so am feeling a little more positive now, ive got to re-submit some medical notes so hopefully ill be able to re-sit in September without being capped at 40%. I think I actually quite suprised, it was the unit I thought went the best, and the highest marked unit - well, that went the worst!
Now ive got to tell my parents, and cancel them coming down for graduation, which I am more upset about, just feeling like ive let everybody down now.
Anyway, the rest of the day: Ive got to go to the bank, to a couple of agencies to get some work, and then I think I might go for a long walk this afternoon, to clear my head a bit.
