The weather here is dismal - more like the middle of Nevember! I've taken the day off work 'cos we are having cavity wall insulation put in today. Noisy, or what!!!!. Hopefully I'll notice the difference in the heating bill.

Later on today I shall be moving over to my friends house to dog sit for a while. Just hope I can manage to fix up my internet connection or I'll be throwing a major tantrum!!!! Mabe a walk in the rain with wet dog will calm me down again!!!

Made bread overnight in breadmaker (for me to take) and have another on on the go for OH (so he won't starve in my absence).

Am now showered, dressed & organised for the day. The washing machine's on, the mince is defrosting for tea & I've put the recycling out. Plus I've done quite a bit of "real" work (as in the work I get paid to do) as well. Shops here I come...........

  • I've had a real old style day so far. Woke up at 6 to the sound of a bullock outside the bedroom window. Flaming thing had got out of the field behind the house, put him back and secured the gate then sat down for a coffee. We only rent this cottage so the farm stuff is nothing to do with me but I don't mind helping out now and then. Sent the children off to their various taxis and buses to school after they gave me earache cos there's no hot water. We don't have central heating, just a coal fire with back boiler and storage heaters(which are off for the summer) and the fire went out last night cos someone hadn't cleaned it out and it wasn't drawing  So spent an hour cleaning out the ash and stucking my hand up the chimney etc.
The cat from the other night has just padded past my window with one of her kittens in her mouth, looks like shes setting up home under the woodshed again. btw the kitten that got stuck didn't make it, saw the tomcat "playing" with it last night. Nature isn't always pretty :(

Ok - so now we are a group divided ...

POSH Club (proper old style homeworkers)
    LML Club (lazy minging layabouts)

 the 'too posh to wash group' and the 'can't-be-asked'??? ;):D

beth - I get miffed when I'm awoken to the sound of bullocks outside my window too - and I don't even live near a cattle farm! As for the screechy squawks of herring gulls pre-5am .... Grrrrr!!!

    *Gull pie anyone? *

Just about to make shepherds pie for tea, while the kitchens in a mess I'll make up some pastry for quiches over the weekend (got the inlaws coming for 4 days!!!) Will also get some pizza dough going ready for tomorrow night. Then it's up into the loft to find the spare duvet and pillows and get them out for an airing.

Want to try and get the sewing machine out again this afternoon, did really well with lavender bags the other afternoon and managed to make up 18 out of scraps, took a couple to my mum on tuesday and she gave me a carrier bag full of voils, ribbons and pretty silky fabric to make some more with. Also managed to pick up 2 contrasting curtain samples from the local interior design shop, £1 each and there's enough fabric to make 4 decent sized cushion covers......just need to get stuck in!

But first of all I think it's near enough lunch time so a good excuse for another coffee and a doorstep sarnie.
