So I would like to know about making seed breads in the breadmaker and if you think it would be cheaper in the long run ( after the investment of the breadmaker of course)- has anyone costed out different breads???
Savingmum. We got the Panasonic Breadmaker with nut dispenser - the one recommended by a lot of MSEers. OH was sceptical about the cost, whether it would taste better etc. So we costed up a seeded loaf. A large loaf costs us between 40-50p (depending on how expensive the seeds are). We mix half wholemeal bread flour and half white (OH prefers a less dense wholemeal loaf). We bake the 5 seed loaf - linseed, pumpkin, sesame, poppy and sunflower seeds. The best thing about this is not the reduced cost but the delicious loaves we are now eating. Far better than anything from the shops. Although the machine was expensive we think we will recoup the cost in a few months. Put it like this, if the breadmaker broke down now, we'd be devastated
OH has gone from thinking that the machine would end up being in the cupboard, to being the family baker (setting up a new batch each night). I am only baking my first loaf today (Queenies onion and rosemary bread) 'cause OH is out of the house!Enjoying an MSE OS life0 -
Brought daughter back from university - arrived home at 12 noon - put home made pizza in oven for lunch .
Her sisters were talking about the delights of home made bread and jam and pizzas as well as bread rolls - DD asks "Am I in the right house and when did all this happen?"
Since I get breadmaker about 4 weeks ago no one will eat anything not home made!
Tea will be home made rolls stuffed with salad and home made chicken burgers!
Just done 2 loads of washing which is out on line - another 5 loads of washing is waiting its turn to go in machine.
Had to pop in here while machines are whirring around me."This site is addictive!"

I was up with the lark cos I was rostered to man a stall at our Church Summer Fair. Raised about £500 :j towards a half million building refurb. Still they do say every journey begins with a single step;) Defrosting something shop-bought and unhealthy for tea followed by a quite night in front of the box.Life's a beach! Up at 5am to go to Gatwick to pick up os & gf from holiday.
I have been trying to keep to £200 for shopping this month, but only have couple of pounds or so left till 20th. Went into Sainsburys on the way home, but only bought essentials; spent less than £2.
Helped dh with some of the stuff he is doing building new conservatory & did major clean up of disgusting state of living room.
Next task is to look through store cupboard, freezer etc to see what there is & get tonights dinner & plan for week - trying not to buy anything more than some milk!
Fortunately we are out to lunch tomorrow, so no meal to cook there. Shan't buy flowers for hostess, as I have a selection of ikea scented candles in glasses put by for such occasions!0 -

That's good. We chop the larger seeds (sunflower and pumpkin) up a little so that they don't scratch the bread pan. Lovely interesting flavours.Enjoying an MSE OS life0

Afternoon all ::
Actually had a day off today. Up at 7 ish, breakfasted & showered, then laundry sorted and bol sauce in slow cooker, before packing friend and her 3 boys into car for day trip out. Luch out, but fairly cheap and very nice too. Home to make garlic bread and about to put tea out - unless I ram the garlic bread down DS1's throat as he's currently screaming at me for not letting him have an apple  (tea in 5 mins) Don't you jusr hate over tired kids !
This evening - popcorn and Dr Who then whatever I feel like after boy asleep. Must go and sort WW3 out grrrrr....0 -
I hope all the parties and weddings and such have gone very well today.
I spent the morning clearing out clothes cupboards, filling a black bin liner and a charity bag, then went shopping and came in 23p under budget and £4 better off in the PMS challenge.
The entire afternoon, from about 1.30pm to about 6.15pm, was spent ironing. Ironing for almost 5 hours because I finally got around to emptying all of the linen baskets during the week. Misterholic still has a basket of shirts to iron, but he does those because no-one else knows how to do them properly. Yeah, right. My basket - of approximately 5 billion t-shirts - is empty.
I had to give up the ironing at 6.15 because Misterholic got a bit confused with the oven and needed assistance.

It was an antiques fair day today for me, not really old style but I suppose if you take a long look at it you could say that I'm recycling old goods do you think?0
