Attacked some limescale marks on the taps with half a lemon and I'm very pleased with how it's taken off the gunk! (Now I just need to find a cheaper supplier of lemons
Queenie,
You probably know this already but if you run out of lemons, just soak some tissue in vinegar and put it round the limescale on the tap and cover with a placcy bag for an hour.
It'll just peel off.
sorry if you already knew that0 -
Yesterday I picked up 6 marigolds that were sitting outside somebody's house with a label on them saying free help yourself, I was given an old pair of scout trousers and a Beavers tshirt which were unclaimed lost property which will be great as spares for my son for helping out at Beavers [shoe cleaning- ugh!], I made a meal and orange squash from some of the leftovers my Mum gave me when she went off on her hols and my friend and I decided to go out and make Elderflower cordial at the beginning of next week. I must stress though that this is not necessarily a typical day but my husband's redundancy last week has rather concentrated my mind!
Regards

Went to work. Came home early. Kept thinking about everthing I was missing on this forum!!
Going to do washing (1 tablet only) Make dinner from the cupboards and do menu plan for next week.
Usual weekly food budget £50. Want to reduce to £25 next week by using up all freezer food.
This site keeps me going on my debt free challenge

Well my Oldstyle Friday started at 1am - when i got back from work and cooked brocolli bake with all my left over veg from this week - time is of the essence at the moment  . The rest of my day hasnt been very oldstyle as have been sat in the office - have made a suggestion for company away day though which is going to be hugely unpopular! - think we should all go and plant tree's so we can go some way to equalising the company's carbon emmissions - i would love it - but imagine the idea will probably cause involuntary choking noises from most as involves mud and rain! (I bet people would start switching the lights off though, if they knew they were going to have to earn their electricity!

I've made my debts bite-size too depressing to look at all at once so am handling them one at a time - first up Graduate Loan £1720 paid off! only £280 to go!!!
Money to raise for tuition fees: £3000

I've had a semi-old style day today. got up early to do lots of washing before work (and probably woke up everyone who lives in my block of flats!!), made some nice sarnies and big fruit salad to take to work for lunch. fell down a bit at lunchtime - had to go to the shops to get a new top to wear to a hen night this weekend (I've lost a bit of weight since i've started eating properly and avoided ready meals), saw a skirt that i liked too, resisted it in the shop but bought it over the internet when i got back to work. oops! this weekend should be pretty old style though - i saved up a little each month for the weekend so it won't come as such a shock to the bank account and have persuaded the chief hen that a picnic in the park with lots of homemade goodies on sunday would be a good way to recover from saturday night! i booked my train ticket in advance too so got that a lot cheaper.
Have happy weekends everyone, I look forward to reading the Oldstyle sat & sun threads when I'm back on Monday!!0 -

I suggested something similar at my last workplace as an alternative to going out drinking all the time - they decided to go to vinopolis instead :rolleyes:0 -
Well I've had a right old money saving week!
Saturday went to the tip and did the garden (finally), which Mum paid for (bless her), which now looks gorgeous and should be minimal maintenance. Then got taken out for dinner by 2 friends as a belated birthday present - yummy!
Sunday cleared out spare room and gave it the first coat of paint (Wilkinsons Magnolia - v cheap and had been knocking about for over 12 months).
Monday work (Boo).
Tuesday pottered about and got some bargains from KwikSave (pepsi 12 cans for £1.99), went to a friend's house and got fed for tea!
Wednesday work again (double Boo)
Yesterday trimmed the hedge and strimmed front lawn, moved bedroom around, hoovered, general housework, made a 4 portion meal for £1 (froze 2 portions).
Today, went to see Granny, so got fed lunch, and given a patchwork bedspread for spare room (friend is giving me an old bed for it as she is moving abroad), a pair of cream trousers that no longer fit her, and found an old radio my brother had left with her in storage I can resurrect and use in my kitchen and for decorating along to! It will be 2nd portion of last night's cooking for tea, and BB for entertainment tonight.
So far, so good.............."It was not my intention to do this in front of you. For that, I'm sorry. But you can take my word for it, your mother had it comin'."
