Salvaged an old pillow last night and made it into two cushions. Dead easy, very quick! Stitched two parallel lines up through the centre, cut between the two lines and neatend the raw edges. Today, I'm going to make covers for them from some a quilt cover set I bought from Ikea for £1 back in January.

As the machine will be out, I've got some really pretty embroidered linens, from various Charity shop excursions, which I want to make some summer cushion covers for the lounge with.

And that's as far as I've planned, aside from bobbing in and out of here through the day :o :rotfl:

    'Morning Queenie :D

Last night did a shop (hubbie and friend trying to get dual access to the internet on our two old computers ... felt it was better to just get out of the way!). So the garden has to wait until tonight.

Had a lovely meal of salmon (covered in home made yoghurt and fish seasoning and popped in the oven for 20 mins), broccoli and couscous.

This morning I've been writing up recipes into my moneysaving recipe notebook (I know I could just print them out but I like having them all in one place and one day it will an heirloom for my girls).
Enjoying an MSE OS life :D

I feel completey inadequate. I haven't had an old style day all week, the house is a tip, I only just about know whats for dinner for the next few nights, we're still eating the homemade loaf from Tuesday so don't need to make another one yet, the fridge is stocked but needs cleaning out, the laundry only gets done on weekends and I committed the cardinal sin & had a take away breakfast yesterday morning:o  :o

Looks like another nice day here in sunny Essex.

Well tonight we have Mackerel, New potatoes and Salad. My Mum bought the Mackerel round yesterday and said I simply had to try it as it was divine. She also gave us a nice bottle of red to accompany it  So free mackerel and wine :D

On another point my dw has finally got the hang of this money saving lark. We received a new baby gift yesterday in 2 gift bags and she realised that the tags had not been written on. " I can use those again" :T

And... A card arrived where the stamp had not been marked, and I caught her peeling the stamp off carefully to re use..... Crikey she is nearly as bad as me.. :j

    Have a great day all.
24 hours in a day. 24 beers in a case ... coincidence?

But I always do that.especially with kids pressies, by the time people have bought the bag and the card there is no money for the suff itself.
So if you recycle and MYO cards, you have more to spend on what matters.

Got to take the car in for service...EXPENSIVE, and no wheels for the day.
Got a friend to pick me up and will probably squatt at hers so that my pile of ironing and other housechores don't stare me in the face.
Already made banana cake and a pasta salad for tonight school picnic though!

Today is my day off so catch up with the housework. Was up early this morning as OH is taking a friend to Exeter (he will be treated to a meal out as well, so I don't have to cook tonight!!). So far I've changed the beds and done 3 loads of washing; cleaned the house from top to bottom (well, nearly, 'cos I came in here and couldn't resist the computer!). A 'QueenieSpecial' is in the bread maker (onion bits and rosemary). This afternoon I'm going to see my friend and we are taking her dog for a walk - so I'll get a 'free' meal as well today. Afraid that's where the money saving old style ends as I'm going to the town later this morning. I'll be good, though - got to get more seeds and stuff from health food shop for breadmaker. I'm only taking £1 for the car park so can't stay longer than 1 hour!!!!

    Enjoy your Friday everyone!

    Morning to you all!

So far the week hasn't gone too brilliantly as far as old Style is concerned. I ended up going late night shopping last night. Although I was spending birthday money and the top I bought was half price in the sale - so I don't feel too guilty!

Anyway, I am resolving to do better over the weekend. My dad is staying to help me get stuck into the decorating. Lots of opportunities to be old style - use vinegar for cleaning, using old clothes/sheets/etc for cloths and recycling some old magnolia paint as a base coat for the walls.

Tonight I plan to make flapjacks using the recipe from the recipe thread so that we something to keep us going throughout our DIY session!

    Have a good Friday!

I'm not old styling exactly today, I'm just going to attack my daughters books and chest of drawers, then I guess I should tackle the piles of stuff that have appeared in the masterbedroom.

Although I guess when I come to recycle some old bedding MIL gave me into a kneeler for the garden and I'm also hoping to stretch/find some material to make seat covers for the car. Oh and I've got to sort out my daughters curtains as well. Hmmm maybe I'll get my sewing machine out today as well LOL

Right, I'll finishing ripping music from this CD I'm listening too and then I'm off to do housework oldstyle

    Morning,
Just came across this thread and found it interestting. I've been really into baking and tidying this week. I found a lovely carrot cake on the recipe board and that came out fantastic, I made so much I had to freeze half. Also have made bread rolls, pizza bases, chocolate oaty cake(our favourite) and raisin bread, I've also cooked dinners from scratch all week. This is a miracle for me as i usually just grab something out of the freezer. But i have got an excuse as I've not long had a baby- well i can try & justify junk food, can't i?
