it's called: teaching them to be independant ;):D

If my DD was anymore independant she'd be going out to work! She's 4 years old and informed me yesterday that our next "new house" (we're renting but looking to buy closer to DH2B's work) has got to have a conservatory so she can have 2 livingrooms and a dryer that drys the dishes on it's own  I asked if she meant a dishwasher and she said "yes that's right, a dishposher".

Yesterday I got her to sort out her cuddly toys. I told her that she could keep 3 of the 4 large teddybears (that will go down to 2 next time we have a sort out ;) ), the ones that were already on her bed, her PJ's case and whatever would fit in the (smallest I had spare) vacuum bag. After 3 attempts to sort them we laid them all out on the bed and I told her to pick the ones that she loved as much as mummy and daddy and to keep going until she ran out of space in the bag. The result was a doll, a teddy bear, a set of Fimbles beanies (Fimbo, Flory and Pom) and 4 carebears all for eBay! When I asked her if she was sure she wanted to send them to somebody elses house to live forever she threw them off the bed into the eBay pile, layback against the headboard with her two hands behind her head, crossed her legs and said "Oh mummy, Hakuna Matata" :rotfl:

Just now she's decided that she was going to bring in the dry washing and put out the stuff that just finished washing on her own! Now I just need her to work on teaching her dad to help like this and I'll be a lady of lesuire, apart from the cooking and shopping! :rotfl:

my old style tip for ironing is like queenie says only irons what is absolutely necessary. we have house clothes, ie stuff we would never wear out, such as track bottoms and old t shirts. This solves two problems, good clothes don't get stained and ruined doing housework, playdough painting etc, and they also don't get ironed.

i have a rule that anything worn outside the house has to be ironed, every thing wlse goes straight into drawers. Never bother with sheets teatowels etc. Life's too short. And try to do a little everyday as soon as it's dried, involve the kids/other half, afterall they wear clothes too!

So far today I've washed two loads, ironed two loads, been to toddler group, got some shopping, and am now having a well deserved coffee break whilst little one is in bed.:A

 MATH! Been there! When I looked at the pole there is a metal bit which sticks out that should hold the umbrella bit up .... I "fixed" mine by levering it out a bit more with a screwdriver and elbow grease - could that be your problem?

    Hmm ... Thursday ...

Hung another load of bedding out before heading off to work ... can't remember what I did at work all day ... skived off early to meet wardrobe delivery man at 3pm ... still waiting ... this wardrobe is Misterholic's "season ticket" for this year. He worked out that with £550 for the ticket, a 3hr 200 mile round trip per home game, the cost of pies, bovril, pints of beer, club programmes, fanzines, and club merchandise, it'd be cheaper to buy a new, hand made, 3 door pine wardrobe that should last us years ... and it's MINE ... when it gets here ...

    Hey All

Today is not a good day for me. In alot of pain and soooo tired but hey thats life!

Anyway, although I havent personally done alot today..I have made sure my hubby has though..lol.

He has done 3 washloads-hung them out and now upstairs, emptied and loaded dishwasher, done some gardening, iced my carrot cake for me as my hands are bad today, swept through downstairs, taken a letter to surgery, buffed up the worktops in kitchen....I only had to use the whip once

I on the other hand have slept nearly all day and am going to have a bath to see if that helps.

Oh dear, I've let the side down today. Went to Sainsburys for lemonade (for o/h's cider shandies), a bit of salad stuff, and chicken for the cat (don't ask - vet's instruction some years ago, and now he demands his treat every night bang on 5.00 p.m.:(), and ended up spending over £50  .

Bought mum a present or three (hand cream and unmentionables that elderly women use :o ) and replacement loose powder and face wash for me, for when I run out. So on a "normal" trip I'd only have spent £34, which is okay ;) .

I did manage to get the 99p per kg Jersey Royals instead of the £3.49 ones I accidentally bought last time , but there were no bargains as they don't put them out until noon :(.

Came home, logged on, and erm.. the rest is history. If you lot weren't so prolific I just might have got something useful done! ;)

Good thing smilies are free, innit? lol
    :D I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe :D
