There are people that cannot wear them for non-medical reasons, so a doctor is unlikely to know about it.MarkN88 said:
Which means anyone can download one and start flashing it about claiming they are exempt.The_Green_Hornet said:
There is no need to buy one as you can download an Exemption from face covering badge from the Government's own website for free.annabanana82 said:Do you think the lanyard will suffice for much longer? They are readily available online for a mere £5 I believe.
I know someone that has bought one and is now telling everyone she meets where to to buy them from. What happens if the lanyards come more commonplace than the masks?
Said person above has lost their spouse to the virus so one may expect a little more caution.

It would be better if they were issued from a doctor.

It would be better if they were issued from a doctor. But if someone wanted to claim it was for a medical reason, maybe it should be stamped by a medical professional for added proof and so cards can’t be abused.0 -
You dont think GPs are busy enough?7

Our gp wouldnt issue them and are not seeing anyone anyway unless its a real serious issue.bradders1983 said:You dont think GPs are busy enough?
Basically we got them online but had to fill out a form to explain our conditions. And to answer someone else I guess it could be in the mind, but either way it does spark off our asthma, thats both of us.0 -
Didn’t say they were not busy enough, it was just a solution to a mask issue that will be getting abuse.bradders1983 said:You dont think GPs are busy enough?0 -
Our GP is the same. I’ve only seen mine the last few weeks face to face because it was super urgent and was so impressed with their safety measures and also impressed overall with the NHS as I have had a specialist referral and I’m been seen just after 8 days of the referral going in.sweetgirl2015 said:

For me it is a physical response, my O2 sats plunge within minutes of putting the mask on. I do wear a mask in shops etc but I have to keep visits very short otherwise I end up in an embarrassing bum up position prone position on the floor and being carted off in an ambulance (yep, I suffered that indignity in Tesco a couple of months ago), or bum up prone position on the floor and being recovered to a handy chair/wall/outside (several times at work).unforeseen said:We asked the doctor why this is and he said because when wearing a mask you are affectively breathing back in the air you already expelled.
I think you need to find a new doctor!
It's more a psychological reaction than physical. Considering lung capacity, how much expelled air do you really think is trapped in that little gap between your face and the mask?
I have to regularly monitor my O2 levels and you can always tell the days when I have been wearing a mask and the days when I haven't...aside from ending up in a bum up position on the floor that is.We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
If you can't wear masks, what about visors as they are further away from your face?0

Visors are useless, though, unless worn WITH a mask!

Personally I find that I am in a state of high anxiety/panic, the moment I put a mask on.
(I'm very anxious even without a mask!).
When I see someone without a mask on / getting too close, I'm in Fight/Flight mode immediately. I want to punch them in the face or run away.
But getting Covid/Long-Covid would be far, far worse!!
So generally I go to the shops as rarely as possible. Cut back on those inessential trips to get snacks and to browse. Get most things delivered. When I do go to the shops, go at quiet times. But I'll always wear a mask.
