Does anyone on here know the clear rules surrounding people who have a health condition, and use a lanyard highlighting they have a hidden disability instead of a mask or face covering since the new rules we're announced yesterday?
Me and my boyfriend both use a lanyard, but are not sure if we can now enter a shop to get our groceries.
Thanks in advance.

Of course you can. No shop should be asking for proof of exemption, the regulations havent changed for customers of shops.
As far as I know the only shops who have brought people back in on the door are Morrisons. Asda are about to, and even then they have no powers to arrest or fine and the lanyard is sufficient. Simply smile and walk past them.2 -

Yes sorry the only change are to fine amounts but I assure you that is the only change and its all the same regulations for shops tomorrow as it was last week, Karen who works the door at Morrisons certainly can dish those out 🤣
A mess? Just a bit.1 -

Covid was never going to disappear as if by magic. Community suppression is the only real weapon available currently. Remember to get your flu jabs.2

My boyfriend had to work right through it.1 -
I'll let you know when it's finally over and there's a calmer environment in which to rationalise events. If the first lockdown is the last national one. Then we'd have done well. Local lockdowns should be able to now target and contain outbreaks far more effectively.

How do do you claim proof of exemption, what does the list include, where do you obtain a lanyard? Whilst I'm not saying that people with certain health conditions should be forced to wear a mask, there still seems to be lots other people who still refuse to use a mask because they don't want to, nobody likes wearing them. I don't want to have a flu jab but all folks over aged 50 are advised to have one. We have a small local One Stop nearby and the majority of shoppers don't think the same rules apply in this situation. Need to have respect for the folk who have worked non stop throughout the pandemic and continue to so. They may also have families who deserve protection.2

Do you think the lanyard will suffice for much longer? They are readily available online for a mere £5 I believe.
I know someone that has bought one and is now telling everyone she meets where to to buy them from. What happens if the lanyards come more commonplace than the masks?
Said person above has lost their spouse to the virus so one may expect a little more caution.

So we chose not to see each other, but and this is the big but that didnt make sense. My boyfriends employer still expected him to work and share the same factory with about 20 other colleagues, otherwise they said the company would fold up.
So their lives were very much put at risk, but my boyfriend and I of 4 years couldn't see each other.
It's things like this going on from the government to me is why we are still living with this virus.
The answer surely should have been just shut all our doors for three weeks and kill the virus dead. And move on afterwards.2
