I have googled the LOWRI BECK who txt me (cancelling 5 appts at short notice) and it is a company contracted by SP to replace meters. I have emailed them and they tell me that I must accept a SMART METER as a replacement.
I TOLD THEM THAT THEY COULD GO AND TAKE A RUNNING JUMP - NO SMART METER WAS COMING ANYWHERE NEAR MY HOUSE !
I have checked SP own rules (https://web-content.scottishpower.co.uk/files/pdf/Guaranteed-Standards-A4.pdf) - They have missed 5 appointments and have not paid me £30 for any of them - so this doubles to £60 per missed appointment - but as they have now missed this as well - does it double again ?
They owe me £300 already !
So the problem is entirely of your own making then.
Solution: allow install of smart meter, wrap in tinfoil, submit manual readings. Job done.

Why is it my fault that 5 seperate appointments made without any warning and cancelled just before the planned date again without any warning by TXT - my making ?
They have failed to pay me £30 - automatically on all 5 ocassions - and their own rules say that because of this - it increases to £60 per ocassion !
See https://community.scottishpower.co.uk/t5/Blogs/The-Day-I-Had-A-Smart-Meter-Installed/ba-p/4750 for reasons why Smart meters will not be fitted in my property !

Nothing in that link explains why you are refusing a smart meter.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

Have you actually contacted them and asked for the money yet?

    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.

OK Update - I cannot even get a response from SP - So emailed LOWRI BECK - The company who keeps on cancelling appointments at short notice by txt - and asked them to fit a replacement meter
They replied "We only fit SMART METERS"
I had requested a DUMB METER
Lowri Beck then asked me to contact SP to ask them to give LB permission to fit a like for like dumb meter
I told them where to go....
    Awaiting response !

    You’re at a complete impasse;...ScottishPower, Lowri-Beck and yourself in a 3-way Mexican Standoff.

    Something has to give.

  • I don’t think they make dumb meters anymore?
Can you not have a smart meter installed and request it to be set to a dumb mode?
i don’t want to sound rude but some of the distress could be your own making; hope you get it sorted or you will have a long wait
Be happy, it's the greatest wealth :)

They have now cancelled the booked appointment to fit a dumb meter on 25 Nov - blaming Covid - telling me that the next available day is 14 Dec - this is from CEO's office
"With regards to the Guaranteed Standard payments – If an appointment is cancelled prior to the visit you would not receive a guaranteed standard payment. However I will look at your request for compensation once the metering appointment has been completed."

In the meantime - free unlimited electricity ??
Maybe - I should buy an electric vehicle and charge it daily and do the same for neighbours too ?

As previously stated, you'll probably find that it's only the display that has failed and that your usage will be downloaded via its optical port before it is replaced with the new meter.  No free lunch.

What do they mean by this?

It means whatever they want to to mean.  They are denying that they owe you any compensation, but will probably offer you an ex-gracia payment when everything is done.  But don't plan on going on a spending spree until you see how much that is.

It means that the compo is for a missed appointment only. Not for a cancelled appointment.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
