Carphone Warehouse : 02 Terminate Contract

KK21, don't forget that usually mobile numbers need to be ported out to deactivate them, they don't just stop.I'm sorry if that wasn't the problem here, but the thread has got a bit long and it is difficult to work out who has what problem!
I only got away from CPW by actually porting my number, otherwise they confirmed I would have just stayed on their 'emergency' ie high rate contract for ever. If you want to give up the numbers then just port them to a PAYG sim Tesco or something, but get them away from CPW ASAP.
I've not heard of that happening before. As far as I know if you end the contract, then the number just dies and is held for a couple of years before being released. People don't have to port numbers
I always do the 12 month contracts and never port the numbers. For ease I simply start with a new number on each contract.0 -
You got away from CPW ? Congratulations! After phoning them in December last year and writing to them in confirmation, I'm STILL getting bills from them despite phoning three times and writing three times to cancel the contract. When I phoned them the first time looking to cancel the contract, they practically interrogated me. Why did I want to cancel? (Company phone) Would the company allow private call? Would they be looking at the bill? Why couldn't I pass the phone on to another family member? And so on. They then passed me to another person (same stuff) and then yet another. This one ignored everything I said, telling me what a valued customer I was and so on. She then went on to offer me so many texts etc. After listening to her spiel I said 'Look, I have asked you no less than seven times that I want to terminate the contract. This is outrageous that I have to endure this. I told her I was recording the call, which stopped her in her tracks. She told me that was illegal! (even though THEY record the calls? That tells you all you need to know about them, doesn't it?) She disappeared off for a few seconds, returning to say that as I was recording the call, she was terminating it. If you are ever unfortunate enough to find yourself dealing with Carphone Warehouse I would strongly advise you to record all calls and letters. Since then I have written to them twice by recorded delivery and even written to one of their directors. No answer at all. Still the bills keep coming. Check them out on Youtube.0

I am trying to end my CPW o2 contract be told to write to the southampton address.
But i was not given a disconnection code that some of the post has mentioned.
Should i call back. I have had enough of them. I have filled a form on their site about disconneting but i bet that is not enough so goin to write in and send by recorded delivery.
Oddly enough when u go to their site and try and go in to feedback and complaints form it wont let u enter any details???? HmmmA smile and manners doesnt cost any thing0 -
Carphone Warehouse are complete b******s, my 18 month contract in my mum's name was due to expire in December. I called on behalf of my mum because she impartial hearing for a while in jan and feb and they said under the data protection act they couldn't give me any details. In jan they said I need to write a letter, then in feb they said I could cancel on the phone then I said that's strange because your colleague told me that I had to write a letter and he was like 'oh yeah you do!'.
Anyway, I went into their store in Wood Green in March and the sales person said you need to call her and write a letter and he called on my behalf and explained the situation and I think he got a ticking off for trying to help me out. The same day my mum called them and they gave her the info and said I had to pay my outstanding bill of x amount by 6/7 April. I paid it by the date and today we have a company called credit solutions saying we owe them almost £300 and they are going to blacklist my mum. I think they are mad because they received the cancellation letter
I am f*****g furious with them right now!!!! I think we should all go down to their headquarters invite the press, watchdog, ofcom etc and have a mass protest.0 -
I have phoned them to cancel today they offered me £5 month for 275 minutes any time amy network & 200 texts with no phone on an 18 month contract. I said I did not want an 18 month contract so was offered the same deal on 12 months. I turned it down even though it seemed a good deal because mu OH uses the phone so infrequently about 5 minutes a month and does not do texting so it would be cheaper on PAYG. I accepted a PAYG sim for £5.99 with £10 credit on and keeping the same number. I was told I do not need to pay the final months £25 line rental so that seemed ok to me. I have had the disconection code and written to the today quoting it. Lets hope thats the end of it.0

rang yesterday and asked for my PAC code was told to send a letter to the Southampton address. Just thought I would have a look on this website before sending it and found out about the DRN number. I rang again today and eventually got a DRN number, she said that there was a note saying I had already been given it yesterday but I definately wasnt. Heres hoping that I get my PAC soon!

I need to send a letter too, and didn't get a DRN number, is that important? If I phone up and they said they already gave me it, i am going to go crazy, cannot be bothered with them.
What did you include in the letter?
Send it by first class stamp or special/recorded delivery?0 -
I think we need ONE step by step "Idiots Guide" on how to cancel via CPW to avoid confusion.
I'd probably mess it up, come on guys - help MSE members out.
