That sounds like the "caring" CPW I know.
:mad:I am NOT a mortgage & insurance adviser - or anything to do with finance, that was put on by the new system I dont know why?!0 -
Just like to say as an update that the cancellation address is still Southampton:
Disconnections
Carphone Warehouse
PO BOX 345
Unit 19
Southampton
SO30 2NR
You do need to phone them up 30-34!!! days before you contract ends
they will give you (lots of grief + never-ending hold music) and a Reference number to quote in your letter.
letter must be send (30 days before) by recorded delivery or it *wont* be received
I would not recommend carphone warehouse to anybody, they really make you jump through hoops if you want out
hope this helps0 -
Actually you still DON'T need to call them to get a disconnection code. That is utter rubbish and a complete lie as I have been stating on these threads for a LONG time. Never believe anything anyone from a cpw company tells you and you won't go far wrong - otherwise you are playing the game by their own purely invented rules. to their benefit and none of yours.0

I'm on an 18month Carphone Warehouse O2 contract (with about 8months left to go) and want to cancel it. I've had enough of CPW and want to get a new iPhone with O2 directly. I'm prepared to pay the rest of my bill off. Do I have to phone CPW or O2? Or write to the southampton cancellation address?
Sorry if someones already asked this...0 -
Aren't you with o2 directly now? (ie After CPW set up your deal, you are now in the hands of the network, not cpw). If so, contact them to give in your notice (they will now accept this over the phone).0

I'm not sure. I had to go through CPW when my phone broke a few months ago. I'll phone O2 and see what they say! Thanks.0

Just upgrade with CPW O2. They offer me the best deals you can get.
£5 per month for 400mins, 1000txts plus a bolton of your choosing. £5 per month after cashback. And never had a problem with getting cashback, especially on upgrade deals.0 -
Hi all,
I hope you can give your valuable suggestions to me.
I am nearing my end of my O2 12 month contract with CPW in 14 days. From the posts I gather that we need to give 30 days notice. I believe now that I can still give notice and I might be charged extra for the one month after my contract ends as I am giving notice just few days before.
However reading through all the posts I am confused about the actual procedure...Can someone summarise please?
From what I see you call them and ask for PAC code. They give you reference no and a address.
You mail the address with the reference code and then you get a PAC code.
Is this correct or have I missed anything?
Can anyone provide the address to which we have to send the letter? Do we definitely need a reference code with it or can I just send without the code?
Also, as someone mentioned above new contracts go to O2 directly? Is this true? Do I lose anything by taking O2 contract with CPW then
Thanks in advance and looking fwd to your replies.0 -
Upgrades stay with cpw. New stand alone contracts go to O2 direct. You need to give 30 days' notice to the Southampton address on this thread and will terminate 30 days after they receive it (not an extra month if you do it now) - don't trust them since you've left it too late to cancel on time - send it recorded delivery. I've never used PAC codes but they are different and MIGHT get you out faster - I'm sure others with specific experience on this will answer that for you.0

I have an iphone coming to the end of its contract, i contactacted carphone warehouse from whom i got the phone and they told me to call 02 directly
I called them up and got through to a guy who specialises in holding back the leavers...
So he asked me why I wanted to terminsate and i explained that data network coverage was not good (ref the ofcom report from july 09)
crave.cnet.co.uk/mobiles/0,39029453,49302921-2,00.htm
and he then went in to sonething about its going to get better, and i commented on the tide of iphone users hogging bandwidth not getting better
so i asked how the pac number procedure worked and asked wether they needed writen confirmation from me - THEY DID NOT NEED WRITTEN CONFIRMATION
but i think the reason I didnt need to send a letter was that I had set up an online profile with them with passwords and security question
Also he didnt tell me that my iphone had to be unlocked by them, so i explcidly asked and he said he would unlock the phone once out of contract - so make sure you ask for it to be unlocked !
to recap
- set up a profile on 02
- ring customer services
- ask for your pac number
- ask for your phone to be unlocked0
