i currently use my halifax account as one of my main accounts they do keep asking me to open a second account not sure if they would frown upon opening another account with them and then switching that account to lloyds so soon after opening
anyone any opinions on that ?
Yes, do it. I've opened two new accounts on Lloyds and one with Natwest to use as immediate donors for switching purposes. You'll have to wait for the debit card to arrive (maybe 5 days) as you'll need the long number for the switching service. As you already have an existing account, opening a new account is really quick and straightforward

So to clarify (have read T&Cs), if you already have a Club Lloyds, you can switch in/open another ?

"The offer is available to customers switching an account held elsewhere to an existing qualifying account."
Sorry to be a bit dim. I have one existing a/c with Lloyds (Club Lloyds). Are they wanting me to switch (my Halifax) account TO that, or will they open a new one  to switch to (then I have 2 x Club lloyds)

You just have to fill in the switch form and switch into your existing Club Lloyds account. No account opening required. The online system won't authorise a 2nd Club Lloyds to be opened anyway.

The essence is here: ".. use the ‘Current Account Switch Service’ to switch to a Club Lloyds Account or Club Lloyds Platinum Account .." . No necessity to open a new account.
They will switch into the ac number you give them, so make sure it's the Club one.

No. I am fairly sure you can only have one Club Lloyds a/c.
You will just switch your Halifax into your existing Club Lloyds a/c. And if you already have the 2 x DDs then you get the monthly fee waived. So no nasty DDs to create! (or is it the £1,500 that waives the fee?? & DDs trigger the interest ?)

(The qualifying accounts are Club Lloyds or Club Platinum, so yes you have a qualifier!)

My M&S fancies a switch to Mr L- it's not earning anything now!

Prior posting was a pic which cant be copied and pasted from - so here's the switch offer terms in text, which may come in handy handy for the next few months:

"To qualify for the £100 switching offer (“the offer”) use the ‘Current Account Switch Service’ to switch to a Club Lloyds Account or Club Lloyds Platinum Account between the 09/09/20 and the 09/11/20. The following conditions apply:
    • Use the ‘Current Account Switch Service’ to transfer all the active credits and debits from the bank account that you hold with another bank and close your old account with the other bank.
    • The switch must be into a Club Lloyds Account (£3 monthly maintaining the account fee) or a Club Lloyds Platinum Account (£21 monthly maintaining the account fee & £3 monthly maintaining the account fee) and happen between the 09/09/20 and the 09/11/20.

You are not eligible for the offer if:

    • You open and switch to any account other than a Club Lloyds Account or a Club Lloyds Platinum Account.
    • Since April 2018 you received a switching offer for switching to a Club Lloyds Account or Club Lloyds Platinum Account.
    • The bank you are switching from does not participate in the Current Account Switch Service. To find out more visit www.currentaccountswitch.co.uk
    1. The offer applies to switches received in branch, online or by phone from the 09/09/20 to the 09/11/20. The offer is subject to change and can be withdrawn without notice at any time.
    2. The offer does not automatically guarantee an arranged overdraft and any application will be subject to status. If your account has an arranged overdraft you will not pay any daily arranged overdraft interest for 3 months.
    3. After 3 months, or if you change your account, you will be charged daily arranged overdraft interest applicable to the account you hold if you use your arranged overdraft. Please see the Bank accounts and switching to us leaflet for full details on arranged overdraft interest. You will have been given this when you opened your account, but if you would like another one, please ask in branch or look at https://www.lloydsbank.com/current-accounts/all-accounts
    4. Only one offer is available per customer. Joint accounts will only be eligible for one payment.
    5. The offer will be paid directly in your account within 10 working days of your switch starting and will appear as a cash credit. The offer is not available to employees of Lloyds Banking Group, or if the employee is named on any bank account held in joint names."  eta spaces

The qualifying account refers to the Club Lloyds Account or a Club Lloyds Platinum Account, as opposed to any other account Lloyds offers that you could initiate a CASS switch to which not qualify for the offer. There's no need to open a new account if you already hold one of the above mentioned accounts - you can just initiate a switch directly into that.

And you can always downgrade to a Classic account after the incentive is paid if you don't want to bother cycling money through to avoid the fee...
