next  few days will be chaotic for lloyds everyone loves abit of free money so expect phonelines to be busy and the application process to be up and down.

i currently use my halifax account as one of my main accounts they do keep asking me to open a second account not sure if they would frown upon opening another account with them and then switching that account to lloyds so soon after opening

I've opened up a few Halifax accounts just to use as donor accounts. Still have two rewards and a normal act that I'll switch over today (to Lloyd's). Also have 3 standard Lloyd's accounts ready for donors. 

They're the easiest to open and are instantly there online so nice & easy to do.

The form worked perfectly for me, around the time you posted. It might just be a temporary blip, and it might be a problem with your connection. No need to panic. You have until November 9.

What's the easiest bank to open a second account with to switch into Lloyds? I got accounts with most high street banks.

Halifax, BoS are instant as is NatWest Select if you're an existing customer. Only thing, you need to await the card to do the switch. But the account is opened instantly.

Pretty much any bank where you're an existing customer would be best. Otherwise Metro, Monzo or Starling are usually pretty quick if they can verify you electronically. I wouldn't make a habit of opening bank accounts just to switch them as most banks don't like it, but for a once off I don't think it's too much of an issue.

At that stage I didn't have an account to spare (and I was also abroad!)
Never had a switch deal from Lloyds and already have a Club L a/c so £100 here I come.
