So I've now received a letter from Ulster Bank asking to send ID by post. As I don't have a NI driving license, this means sending a passport. Has anyone else had to do this and was a certified copy ok? I don't understand why I have to do this on top of the YooHoo Id verification, especially as I received a confirmation that it had been accepted.

Maybe give them a call on Monday and ask if you can send a certified copy. Everything seems a bit chaotic tbh.

Login www.ulsterbankanytimebanking.co.uk with your customer ID (ddmmyyxxxx) and activation code, your sort code and full account will be displayed.
Make a note as only the last 4 digits will be displayed on subsequent logins.

I'd not touch Ulster Bank.  I had what was supposed to be an instant access savings account with them, in which I had money for a house deposit.  Unfortunately, when I came to withdraw the money (for a house purchase), they told me I needed an electronic secure key generation card to do this, which they'd not bothered to send me when I opened the account.  This took over a week for them to send.  Luckily, I had access to other capital, otherwise I would have needed to visit a branch to get access to my cash.  Which would have meant a trip to Northern Ireland.

They were completely unapologetic  about the fact they'd potentially put me in situation where I would have failed to complete.

When it comes to free money most prolific posters on here couldn't care less. Mention ethics and it's like discussing a moral code with the devil.

This is a non sequitur. @kinger101 has very specific reasons for avoiding Ulster Bank. Nobody has mentioned ethics or any moral code until you now.

This is thread digression of the worst kind.

I don't agree. @kinger101 gave example of why it might be best to avoid Ulster Bank and I responded by saying they won't listen, in so many words. Clearly I was right and my comment is completely valid. I wager there is nothing that could be said against Ulster Bank that would stop many on here going for the free money - unless the issue was they weren't paying out. If it were discovered they were financing the paramilitaries, knowingly contributing to global warming, fleecing the poor, mis-selling various products, it wouldn't make an iota of a difference to those wishing to line their pockets for free.

If you really think this is 'thread digression of the worst kind' you have led a very sheltered life, lol!

False. I'd be even more glad to take money from them.
