This has been mentioned in passing in the £100 RBS switch offer thread but I reckon the offer does deserve its own thread.

Summary:

By 19/11/2020:
switch a current account to a new Ulster Select, or to an existing Ulster current account
By 31/12/2020: deposit a minimum of £1,500, and log in through the Ulster NI app
By 29/01/2021: Ulster will deposit £100 bonus, provided you have met the terms

Excluded from this offer are those who had a switch bonus from Ulster, Natwest or RBS between October 2017 and 1st September 2020 - - - but NOT apparently those who had such a bonus since 1st September 2020  :). I am sure this must be bad writing but terms are terms, so I would expect them to honour them.

  • I have just attempted a switch to my existing Ulster Bank a/c using their on line form.  However, as an existing a/c holder it states I have to go to a branch to facilitate this.  Just spoken to them by phone and they confirm its not possible to do it any other way... Living in England, that might prove to be a little inconvenient!!!

pistonbroke1 try opening a new Select account? The switch request is part of the application for a new account.

That's what I did. Had fun picking which branch in NI was my nearest :)
Shame they don't have the Rewards like their Sister banks.
Also, the group really should have a Welsh version too ;)

    This is not investment advice.
Your money may go "down and up and down and up and down and up and down ... down and up and down and up and down and up and down ... I got all tricked up and came up to this thing, lookin' so fire hot, a twenty out of ten..."
  • You don't have to login to the app, you can use internet banking through their website.

A word of caution. Ulster Bank offered a market leading savings account in 2017 and many people experienced problems opening the account.

I had one of these. In fact, I still have it, albeit with no money in it. Never had any problems opening or operating it. It proved useful when applying for the current account now, as I already had full online and app access.
  • Thanks for the heads up @colsten - just applied to open one. ;)

loving this free money lately haha!

I am amazed how little apparent interest there seems to be in this offer.

Indeed. It's a painless process and free £100 is still free money. 👏

I think that's the problem. Free money. I'd feel decidedly uncomfortable if I had no intention of using the account as my daily account. Arguing that the banks are immoral, that the T&Cs allow it, that you need the money, that NatWest/RBS is already owned by us, that I'm stupid for having a moral compass, that my moral compass is defective or that morality doesn't come into it just doesn't help.
