@RelievedSheff MILs plan for Boxing Day is a roast gammon joint. Not sure I could fancy it in a slow cooker though neither my wife nor I seem to get it quite right - tried a few recipes and never taste the same IMO.That’s truly awful re only being 47 when he got ill. Know a fair few people have given me the you won’t make 80 if you carry on the way you have been line - not sure I agree stress can make you that physically ill but maybe don’t want to face risk to my own health, not someone who can settle for what I have so stress part of how I am tbh. Really admire you’ve stuck by him, can’t be easy and again assuming but I imagine he won’t get better.4

Maybe this will start to shape how you're living and some of the current paradigms you live with.5 -
@Working_Mum not sure I want to read about that tbh!Hope you’re sorted now re health.I’ve lived a high stress lifestyle for years full heart tests in A&E but actually panic attacks at various times in my life 100 stress related. Not healthy I know but doesn’t stop me wanting to level up def decided to be more sustainable with the personal money etc though so probably lower stress in a few years. I don’t eat a bad diet and do exercise, not drinking much etc so hope that makes up for it.4

I have no doubt that stress contributes to ill health among many other factors.
On a lighter note. I think I might have inadvertently fixed our washer dryer. Readers of the diary will know that we have had problems with it deciding when it is going to dry and when it is not going to dry, more often that not deciding not to dry.
Well I noticed the other day that the overflow pipe from the sink overflow to the plumbing under the sink looked blocked. Upon taking it off and inspecting it, it was full of debris and what looked like building crap. So I cleaned it out and put it back on. The overflow acts as a vent for the under sink plumbing.
Since then the washer dryer has dried all of the three loads of washing that I have done. So I can only assume that the blocked vent was somehow causing an air lock in the machine or the plumbing which has now been remedied. Either that or the washer dryer is in a very good mood and it will be back to normal service with the next load that goes in there3 -
Hopefully you’ve fixed the problem, fingers crossed 🤞I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)2

I hope so2

Sounds like you've fixed the problem @RelievedSheff; blockages in pipes can be a real pain as can kinks in the pipes.
The gammon sounds lovely. Not tried it in cider but have done it in Tango - that comes out sweet too. The other thing I do quite often is slow cooked whole chicken - it just comes out so soft and tender and as I don't like skin it doesn't bother me there's no crispy skin! Pulled pork is another good SC recipe!

It will be a no spends day today.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner are from stores. Breakfast was cereals, the other half has taken his packed lunch to work, my lunch will be some left over ham and eggs and tonight for dinner we have mixed seafood in black bean sauce with wholewheat noodles and spring rolls.
Todays jobs include:- working from home (only three days left before the Christmas break)
- dusting the house
- sorting out the freezers and moving the Christmas food from the garage freezer to the kitchen freezer
- walking the dog x 2

We have just had confirmation from my employers that our pension scheme as of 1st January will be changed to a salary sacrifice scheme (if we opt in). Having run a few numbers I think it is a no brainer.
I will come out with the a same net pay per month through paying less tax and NI but the contributions to my pension pot will increase by 16.9% as my employers have agreed to pay 100% of their NI savings to our pension scheme.4 -
Wow that sounds great 👍I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)3
