Merry Christmas everyone. I hope you all have a lovely day wherever you may and and whoever you are with.
The dog is blissfully unaware of the pile of presents in the living room. He will have a surprise soon when we get up.
It is of course a no spends today. A big breakfast this morning and the main event this evening.
Still not sure where we are walking the dog yet. Will play that by ear but it will probably be one of the big local estates. Maybe Clumber or Welbeck.

I hope everyone had a great day yesterday. We certainly did. It was a busy one. We are glad of the lie in this morning.
We ended up walking in Sherwood to see the Major Oak.

It will be another no spends day today. Staying well clear of the shops today.
Breakfast is sausage, bubble and squeak and poached eggs. Dinner later is cold meats, cheese, pickles and crackers. My favourite sort of picky meal.
Today we are heading out walking with the dog again. Not sure where too yet. I fancy up by the golf course. But we shall see where the other half fancies.
Got to get out of bed first and foremost and right now I don't fancy that.1 -

We love the Major Oak. I'm sure it has a tale or two to tell.EssexHebridean said:Glad you had a lovely day - and what a wonderful tree!2 -
I think I have said before that when I as a child the tree wasn't barriered off and you could go inside. If you go down to the woods today you better not go alone.1

We used to go all the time when we were kids and loved it. Not been in years and it’s not far away so you may have inspired me!RelievedSheff said:

@ladyholly am only a fraction of my way through this diary as you see from this quote back at the end of 2020; I have to ask, what is stopping you from following the dogs' splendid example and going back to bed yourself? You'll wake a giant refreshed. @RelievedSheff I'm loving your diary; I'd never have been mad enough to embark on it, given its length, but for the hollies! Unfortunately our Collie is up with the lark (c 6am) putting his paws on the bed and making the jack russel who sleeps there growl at him. This goes on until I get up, then he rushes downstairs shouting to me while I get dressed. The Jack usually stays in bed for a bit but our staffie X wanders around until I go down to get them all breakfast. No rest in our house first thing. I wouldnt mind quite so much but as soon their breakfast and walk is over they all retire back to bed!2 -
The main reason is that I take them for an early morning walk, the staffie X and collie go together but the JRT is separate because at 15 she likes to just have a little wander about the green outside and by the time that is all done plus breakfast I am wide awake but most days i have an afternoon nap which compensates a little. Things have now changed somewhat as our staffie x died in the spring and both our collie and Jack died within 4 days of each other at the beginning of November. We have now adopted a 6 year old collie who needs a lot of training. Great in the house but almost wild when out. We were not told this when we adopted him only that he pulled on the lead. More details in my diary (15 months to debt free) if you are interested so as not to take up to much space in RelievedSheffs diary.Humdinger1 said:@ladyholly am only a fraction of my way through this diary as you see from this quote back at the end of 2020; I have to ask, what is stopping you from following the dogs' splendid example and going back to bed yourself?
