The first of the month and a busy day on the finances with the mortgage and most of the house bills coming out of the account today. Money in, money out. The bank balance only ever looks healthy for one day of the month in this household
Not a no spends day today. I have been to the shop for a few bits this morning and while the beer was still on offer we have picked up another 6 cases to stick in the garage.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be from stores. Breakfast was crumpets, we have both taken our packed lunches to work and dinner tonight is a nice Dexter steak pie from the farm shop with air fried cajun chips and vegetables.
Tonight's jobs are:- vacuuming the house
- cleaning the bathrooms
- walking the dog
I do wish this cold would go away now though. Ten days in and we both still feel a bit crap with it. It is doing the rounds at work and has downed a few people, so perhaps we shouldn't complain about our dose of it too much!!2 -
Totals looking good. Look at all those zeros 😃 I’ve also noticed the darker mornings and evenings.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)2

You’re doing well as always.Where you went does look incredibly scenic. Did you go in the smallest house? Talking of historic residential buildings if you haven’t visited Mr Straw’s House in Worksop you should, it’s splendid.Certainly looks like it’d be nice in a car but rather you than me in that van going through that bridge ha. Have you still got the Sierra? We are going away in the old cars for a weekend this month it’ll probably be an ‘adventure’ idk. Greece in October then it’ll be Christmas before we know it. Few days planned for then used to hate being away from home can’t get enough rn ha. When do you go to Devon / Cornwall? Beautiful part of the world and right time to be going when no kids are off school.3

Not been in Mr Straws House yet either. Keep meaning to go but just not gotten round to it yet.
Still got the Sierra. It is sat in the garage waiting for when we next get it out. It's not hurting anything in there. Hope you enjoy your weekend in the old cars. Sounds like a nice idea.
We almost always time our two week trip for when the kids have gone back to school. It is so much quieter and the weather tends to be better for walking the dog. Still mild, with a bit of luck, but not too hot.
We are doing a bit of a tour around Devon and Cornwall this time with the van. First stop is Wachet (not Devon I know!) and then we are following the coast around until our final night down there at Portland Bill before heading back North. We are planning on spending just the night in most places, just over half way through we have a 2 night stop planned on a club site just to give ourselves a bit of a break from driving. A different way to how we have visited before when we have been based in one area in a lodge. Hopefully we should see more of the area driving through it more.
Hope you have a good time in Greece again catching up with you family. I know your boy loved that last time.
We are off up to Northumberland between Christmas and New Year. Looking forward to that one.3 -
Not a no spends day today. We have been to pick up the sister in laws birthday present this morning ready for her birthday dinner tomorrow evening.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be from stores. Breakfast was toast, we have both taken our packed lunches to work and dinner tonight is burger with sweet potato chips, onion rings and corn on the cob.
Today's jobs are:- walking the dog at lunchtime
- walking the dog after work
- load of washing to put away (which will hopefully be dry when we get home)

It will be a busy and probably spendy day today. But it has started with a much needed lie in. Can't remember the last time we stayed in bed a sleep until 8am!
Breakfast is a bacon and egg sandwich but we are out for lunch and dinner today.
I need to pop to the farm shop today to get some meat. The freezer is looking a bit bare.
At lunchtime we are heading across Lincoln way to meet up with the dogs brother and his parents. Not seen them for a while. The dog will be happy. We will take them for a good run and then go for lunch.
Then on the way home we need to call to the shops and get some supplies for next doors daughter who is baby sitting the dog for us tonight while we go out to the sister in laws birthday meal.
I do wish our dog wasn't so stressy and could be left alone for a few hours but he isn't so a baby sitter it is!2 -
How good do those balances look? Savings now solid amounts. Debts very straightforward. FWIW I don't see the motorhome debt as 'bad' debt because there is an asset behind it should the do-da hit the fan. Meantime it produces holidays on repeat.
In a fairly grim time overall its great to see good news.

We don't really see the motorhome loan as a bad debt either. But it is still money owed to someone else. The way the time is flying by at the minute it will be paid for before we know it. Can't believe we are 18 months in already!0
