@RelievedSheff definitely some big changes on the horizon re office space / wfh etc. I think eventually we’ll mainly have a hybrid model - some of the week from office / some wfh which is actually what I’ve done for years and is very common in my industry (so is wfh).
Not a bad idea to plan ahead save for the new washing machine. You’re doing great.3 -
Do you have outside space to dry washing? If you do I'd be tempted to go for just a washing machine and if you have room a separate dryer. But if not then I'd still go for just a washer and then perhaps a heated dryer such as Lakeland sell.

We are going to put a retractable washing line in the garden for summer use but that wont do much at this time of year and we don't have room for separate washing machine and tumble dryer.
At the moment we are hanging clothes in the spare bathroom with the extractor fan on and window open which seems to work fine but isn't an ideal solution.
If we could guarantee that this washer dryer would continue working than we would be happy to keep it. When it works it works fine. It just doesn't dry more than it does dry at the moment!0 -

When drying laundry inside on the airer we use a dehumidifier to speed the process up.
If we didn't have the dehumidifier I would get a heated airer.

What is the cost of running a dehumidifier for an hour? Can't really see that it will be much less than running the washer dryer to be fair!
We want the washer dryer for some autonomy. While I am working from home it is fine I can get the wet washing out and hang it outside or in the spare bathroom to dry. But when I am back working in the office and out of the house from 7am to 7pm hanging it outside isn't going to be an option. Which is where the washer dryer comes into it's own. We can have it set to come on and be dry when we get home from work.2 -
£150 paid off credit card 5 today.
Other than the above it will be a no spends day.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be from stores. Breakfast was cereals, the other half has taken his packed lunch to work, I have some of last night's pulled pork left in the fridge, pulled pork wraps for me I think and then dinner tonight is a homemade game pie with chips and vegetables.
It is the first day of Lock Down V2 today. Not much will change for us today. It will just be another typical work day evening. By the time we have had dinner, got showered and changed and sat down to watch an hours TV it will be time for bed!
The other half has taken the dog to work today. Ordinarily he goes to work with him when I am working in the office, but with me working from home it has made sense for him to stay here with me. He has gone to work with the other half today as a bit of a treat. He loves it. Plus it will get him used to the idea that he isn't going to be at home with me forever and will have to go back to work at some point.
Today's jobs include:- working from home
- dusting the house
- wrapping Christmas presents (if they arrive)
- making game pie

We've never had a tumble dryer. We had a good dehumidifier in our flat and ran it almost every day. We paid about £40-50 a month in energy bills. I think they're more cost effective than tumble dryers, but I'd do some research first. I'm actually looking to put my dehumidifier on marketplace as we don't need it anymore!2

Our washer dryer uses 2.9kWh for the full wash and dry cycle.
Energy consumption aside though putting either a heated airer or dehumidifier in the spare bathroom where we dry the clothes would mean trailing an extension cable through the house as there are no 240v sockets anywhere near that bathroom which would also mean the door being slightly ajar and moisture entering the rest of the upstairs which for obvious reasons we are keen to avoid.2 -
I've got a friend who uses a tumble dryer all year round because she thinks hanging the washing outside spoils the appearance of her garden. Apart from that she's completely normal 🤣I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)4
